Eighty six

Selene's POV

I turned to look at her, surprised by the confrontation. She soon reached me and stopped in front of standing a head taller than me due to her extremely long and clacking heels. She looked down at me with her nose upturned and eyebrows raised tightly.

She gave me a condescending look as she mouthed, "Did you not hear what I said? How dare you ignore me?"

She looked around her and toward my office before barking, "Where is Linda? Linda!?"

I paused, both confused and utterly speechless as I watched her rave along. Just then, the door to Vivian's office opened, and Vivian stepped out as she quickly walked to us.

When the last saw her, she seemed to grow even more ridiculing as she said to her, "Who is this rude and insolent..."

Before she can finish her words, Vivian cuts in with a flattering smile on her face. "Ms. Clara, don't be angry. Are you here to see the president?"

I looked at the lady as I heard that name, and suddenly, I recalled why she was familiar. She is on the list of the president's girlfriends that were in the file.

I paused, feeling utterly ridiculous and frustrated as I wondered how I had managed to offend the president's girlfriend within today of resuming work and without even doing anything at all.

Ms. Clara didn't seem appeased by Vivian's obvious flattery at all and, instead, glared at her as she barked, "Did you not hear my question? I said, "Who is this...?"

"She's the new secretary," Vivian quickly replied, looking panicked. "She has just resumed for work today, so she hasn't gotten used to the environment. Please pardon her and don't be angry anymore, Ms. Clara."

Ms. Clara looked at me at this time and gave me a once over. "The new secretary?" She paused for a moment, and for a moment, I thought I heard her mumble under her breath; "Why is she this pretty? Is he sleeping with his secretaries now?"

My eyes widened, and I could only lower my head as I pondered on what I heard. Could it be she saw me in thee hallways and thought I was also the president's girlfriend so she decided to cause trouble for me?"

She seemed rather relieved now that she knew who I was, but her condescending look did not decrease in the least. She suddenly said, "I'll give you money. Quit the job."

Huh? What?

I was stunned speechless and could only look at her like a dumb fool.

Even Vivian exclaimed, "Huh?"

She looked at both of us as though she was speaking as a matter of fact. "I am Dominic's girlfriend, and I will be marrying him in the future. I do not like that someone, like you, is around him, so I want you to quit. Take the offer now while I'm being generous, or I'll make sure you're sacked."

I couldn't even wrap my head around what was going on. I had only just resumed for work today. How come I was getting fired again?
