Chapter 98 Chapter 98: Invitation
Chapter 98: Invitation
Vishiea’s POV
These days I feel like I am empty. I don’t know why. Especially when I am alone. That’s why I focused myself on work. This is the only thing that could ease the emptiness I am feeling.
The people here are also calling me different names. Like in the palace, they call me Vishiea, but when I arrived here, some called me Anastasia. Though I am already used to it, it still doesn’t explain.
Yes, Aunt Kennedy was right. She explained to me what happened in the past and why my name Vishiea turned out to be Anastasia. But there’s something missing with their explanations.
I am confused, but I don’t want them to know that I am feeling this confusion right now. I just don’t want them to get worried.
According to their explanation, I indeed went through a messy situation in my life. But still, I could feel that something wasn’t right.
I am happy with my life now. I have my friends with me and they already found their mates. I have my Aunt Kennedy and her husband, and they treated me like their own daughter. But something is missing, and I just can’t help but think about it.
“Ms. Cullen, are you alright?” Mr. Hon asked me all of a sudden. I nodded my head at him.
Mr. Hon is known in the business world. He visited me today. Though I don’t exactly know the reason, the flowers he’s holding tell me about it.
“Mr. Hon, sorry. I was just thinking about something,” I told him and smiled.
Aunt Kennedy let him in. It’s too impolite if I let him wait outside. I thought it was only because of business, but then when he entered inside and I waited for him to discuss business, he didn’t do it. Instead, he handed me a bouquet of flowers.
“What were you saying earlier? I’m sorry, I didn’t understand it.” I chuckled. He smiled and, all of a sudden, held my hand.
I winced because of what he did. I am not used to this kind of thing.
“I am saying, you’re single and I am single. Maybe we can, you know, try to work things out,” he uttered. I got confused and looked at him.
Mr. Hon is just like me. Maybe he’s just five years older. He’s wearing eyeglasses and weird clothes. I mean, his fashion is really something else. He likes light colors, and sometimes—or yeah, most of the time—it’s not good to the eyes.
I don’t think it will work that way. I know now what he means.
“Mr. Hon, I’m sorry, but I am not interested in that and—” he cut me off. He looked me in the eyes.
“Anastasia, I know there are a lot of men courting you, who admire you, who like you. But maybe, just maybe, you can give me a chance to prove myself, that I am better than them,” he uttered while holding my hands.
I tried to remove his hand from me.
“Look, Mr. Hon. I think you should leave,” I told him and pointed to the door. But he refused.
“No, I will stay here,” he said firmly. But then the door opened and Liliane, together with Cassie, entered.
“She said that you should get out, or else you want us to break your bones,” Cassie said. Mr. Hon looked at them, and Lucian together with Dylan waiting outside. He gulped and immediately stood up, grabbing his things and running outside.
I chuckled because of what they did. They are really always here for me.
“That really scared him,” Liliane uttered and laughed.
“Well, just check that guy if he already left,” Dylan said, and they both left with Lucian.
“They were lined up,” Cassie tried to piss me off.
“Nah, I have no interest in them all. Besides, I don’t want to be with someone who is not my type. I also want to find my mate just like yours.” I smiled at them, but then they became quiet and looked at each other.
“What’s wrong?” I asked them. They just smiled at me.
“Maybe one day you’ll really find your mate. Would you be happy if that day happened?” Liliane asked me. They waited for my response like it’s the most important thing they should hear.
“Of course, who wouldn’t? The most important thing in our life is to find our mate. I’m excited to see him. Is he cute? Handsome? Is he tall? Short? Does he have a cute smile? I’ve been really thinking about this lately,” I told them. They smiled weirdly.
“We’re actually surprised. This is the first time you mentioned meeting your mate,” Cassie said.
I held both their hands.
“Would you guys help me find my mate? I just want to know him.” I told them. They both looked at each other with unsure expressions, but before they could answer, the door opened.
Aunt Kennedy and Mark entered the room. They were holding a red envelope that confused me.
“I have an announcement.” She paused and looked at me hesitantly.
Is this bad news? Mark tapped Aunt Kennedy’s shoulder.
“What is it, Aunt?” I asked her, and she smiled.
Maybe it’s all about the envelope.
“We have an invitation to come from the palace. It’s the king’s birthday tomorrow and we are all invited. Well, we can’t attend the party or—” before she could finish her words, I stood up and grabbed the invitation letter.
“We’re going!” I excitedly said. It’s the king and I’ve never seen his face.
“Are you sure about this?” Aunt Kennedy asked me and I nodded.
“Well, I can’t go because I have a big belly, but Cassie and Liliane will accompany you.” She uttered. I smiled at them and they nodded their heads.
“Of course we will accompany you,” Cassie smiled at me.
“Okay then, I have tons of gowns for the three of you,” Aunt Kennedy said, which excited me more.
It’s been months since I stayed in the palace and I want to visit there. Aside from that, I also want to meet the king.
This will be my opportunity.
I opened the invitation and found his name. It’s familiar.
