Chapter 96 Chapter 96: Letting Go
Chapter 96: Letting Go
Darius’ POV
I was busy with the papers when suddenly Vishiea’s aunt entered my room. She bowed to me.
Vishiea is still lucky because she found a great family. I also heard that one of her closest friends named Dylan died during the fight.
The man who hated me too much when I visited their place. I know he likes Vishiea. I can see it but I didn’t mind it since they were there when I wasn’t around. They are always there to help her.
I am happy that she found a family like them and I will always be thankful for them for taking care of Vishiea.
“Mrs. Kennedy,” I offered her a seat and she nodded her head. She looked serious this time and I knew she wanted to tell me something.
“Your majesty, I just want to request you,” she uttered. She held her belly. She’s pregnant right now.
When they came here to ask for help I didn’t hesitate. They were thankful that Vishiea was saved but in exchange a lot of innocent soldiers died.
I let them stay here while Vishiea is under recovery, while I sent my palace guards to their place.
They decided to stay here for the meantime but I already knew that they don’t plan to stay here longer.
“Anything, Mrs. Kennedy, my doors are always open to help you,” I told her. She smiled and let out a deep sigh.
Even if I already had an idea of her request I still decided to hear her side.
“Your majesty, we’re thankful that you let us stay here in the palace while Vishiea is recovering. But then, we know that this is not Vishiea’s place. And I know if my cousin Kiara is still alive she would decide to bring Vishiea back to her dukehome.” She started. I looked away. I already knew she would say that, but I still couldn’t accept it.
It’s really hard to think that she would live far away from me.
Here, I could watch her. I could see her smile, laugh and I could watch her every move. But if she started living there I would no longer do that.
I am already used to her staying here. It’s hard as damn but Mrs. Kennedy is also right.
When she was exiled here in the palace, no one accepted her but only them. They treated her like their own family. They were there to comfort her while I was here sitting on my throne.
They stayed by her side to protect her and give her the best life while I couldn’t do anything.
“I am thankful for everything you’ve done to help us and I will always remember your kindness. But maybe it’s better if Vishiea stayed in her own place. She needs to learn also how to live there just like how she’s been given the chance to live here in the palace,” she explained as she saw me hesitate.
It’s just hard for me to let go of her. I’ve been waiting for this day that she will stay here in the palace, to watch her. I’m already fine watching her from afar yet still knowing that she’s here in the palace.
But in that place I could no longer watch her every day and I am afraid that something would happen to her and I can’t let her get hurt again.
“We would make sure that she’s safe, your majesty. She will be safe, don’t worry. Please, I know it’s hard to let her go but maybe that could be the best thing you could do.” She uttered, trying to convince me. After all, I don’t have the right to decide what’s actually best for her.
Mrs. Kennedy became her mother since the lone lycan who adopted her died.
It’s hard but I have no other choice but to agree. If this is what could help her and the best for her, then I don’t have the right to stop her.
She deserves to live her life peacefully. And I don’t want to ruin it. I once became her nightmare and this time I won’t let that happen.
“Maybe it’s time for you to talk to her,” she said as I looked at her. I shook my head.
I can’t do that. I don’t want her to see me. After everything I’ve caused her I can’t even talk to her.
“I can’t, Mrs. Kennedy. I’ve done such horrible things. It’s all my fault why this happened. I would rather watch her from afar and assure her safety than show my face that once ruined her life,” I told her as she shook her head. She doesn’t agree with it.
“No, don’t say that. We all know that it’s not your fault. You only did what is right, you only chose to do things that you know will make her safe. Don’t blame yourself, son. You should free yourself from everything. Don’t blame yourself for someone’s mistake,” she uttered, trying to convince me.
But if Vishiea wasn’t my mate this wouldn’t have happened. How can I not blame myself for everything? This all happened to her because of my family.
This all started because of my father.
“I know Vishiea would understand everything once she found out the truth, your majesty. I know her. If she could only remember anything right now, I will explain everything to her,” she said but I shook my head.
“No, Mrs. Kennedy. Maybe it’s better if Vishiea doesn’t remember me,” I told her, which confused her.
I know she has a lot of questions right now.
“No, she needs to know who actually saved her. Who’s doing everything to protect her. Don’t do this to yourself, your majesty. You’ve done and endured enough. You deserve to talk to her. Watching her wouldn’t ease any pain.” She uttered. But how am I supposed to do that?
I don’t have the strength to even call her when she’s walking near me. I don’t even have the braveness to talk to her.
“Maybe it’s better if she doesn’t remember my name or anything about me,” I told her. She let out a deep sigh. She looks frustrated right now.
She could live her life without me and I know she’ll be more than happy.
“Your majesty, don’t lose the chance. Or you’ll regret your decision your entire life,” she said and smiled at me.
“When the right time comes—” I started but she cut me off. She stood up and looked at me.
“Time is ticking, there’s always a right time every time.” She said and left.
I rested my back on the chair. Vishiea, I just hope you don’t hate me when you remember anything.
