Chapter 95 Chapter 95: Cemetery of Memories
Chapter 95: Cemetery of Memories
Vishiea’s POV
I suddenly got lost. I just walked out of the palace, and I didn’t know this place. I just wanted to wander around because there are places I haven’t seen.
Then I stumbled and fell on the ground. When I raised my head, I saw a gravestone. Not only one, but hundreds of gravestones.
There were also medals on their gravestones. I stood up and started to walk while looking at them, reading their names.
Then I stopped at the biggest gravestone I saw. I walked closer to read it.
“Knight Nathan Nightshade,” I murmured its name. I felt like there was a needle piercing my heart after reading the name.
What’s with this feeling? Why do I feel like crying? Tears started streaming down my cheeks while looking at the gravestone.
I didn’t know what was happening. I wiped my tears.
“Vishiea!” I was startled when I heard someone call my name. Then I saw Liliane and Cassie worriedly looking at me. They hurriedly walked towards me.
Their foreheads knotted when they saw me crying.
“Hey, what happened? Are you alright?” Cassie asked me. I wiped my tears and pointed at the gravestone.
“I don’t know, I just cried when I read that name,” I told them, and they both looked at the gravestone.
They became speechless, and Liliane covered her mouth.
“Sorry, I’ll just wait for you outside,” she uttered and ran out of the place. Cassie’s eyes were welled up with tears.
What’s happening to them? Is that really the effect of seeing this gravestone?
My heart was so heavy, and I couldn’t even breathe properly.
Nathan Nightshade. Cassie held my hand and pulled me out of the place.
I could see that they were sad right now. We left the place and sat near the fountain.
“What’s wrong? You’re crying like me. Is there something wrong with that name?” I asked them. They both looked at me. Liliane cleared her throat and smiled.
“Vishiea… that’s a cemetery for our soldiers. They died, and their bodies were placed there. And that name you read earlier—he’s my cousin.” Her voice cracked, and Cassie immediately caressed her back.
I didn’t understand what she meant.
“Nathan is a great knight. He’s a hero. You met him already before,” she continued. Maybe that’s why I felt pain when I saw his gravestone.
“How did he end up there?” I asked her. She was silent. Cassie held my hand.
“Maybe it’s better if you don’t know, Vishiea. Let’s just go back to your room.” Cassie said. I agreed, and I looked at Liliane. It seemed like that man was so important to her.
She also told me that I already met him before. I wonder what he looks like. Is he handsome? Is he tall? He’s a knight, that’s why he’s strong, but how could he die that easily?
I had a lot of questions in my mind, and I just wanted to find out why.
“Vishiea,” Aunt Kennedy called me. She’s back. I immediately ran towards her and hugged her, but then I got confused when I looked at her.
“Aunt Kennedy, are you pregnant?” Liliane asked her. She smiled and nodded her head.
I looked at her, confused. She’s what?
“Oh my gosh! Congratulations to the both of you. We’re so happy.” Cassie hugged her excitedly, yet carefully.
“Congratulations, Aunt Kennedy!” Liliane also hugged her. They were so happy while I had no idea what being pregnant meant.
“What’s happening? Why are you guys so happy?” I asked them. They chuckled and looked at me.
“She’s having a baby, Vishiea,” Cassie explained to me. My eyes widened, and I hugged her.
“Aunt Kennedy, I—I’m happy for you. Congratulations,” I told her. She hugged me back.
“Thank you, Vishiea,” she kissed me on my cheeks.
We then celebrated in my room.
“We were just so sad earlier because of what we saw, and now we’re happy because you’re having a baby,” I told her. She got confused and looked at me.
“What do you mean? Where did you go?” she asked me. Should I tell her? She just told me not to leave the palace or go out without anyone beside me.
“I just went to a place, but then I saw a gravestone. And I read the name Knight Nathan Nightshade. I don’t know why I cried, and when my friends saw me, they suddenly felt sad,” I explained to her. She was shocked when she heard me say the name. She looked at Cassie and Liliane.
I got confused because of their actions.
“I—I don’t know how to explain it to you, Vishiea, but Nathan is a great friend of yours. He’s a great and kind guy. He’s a hero,” she told me. Aunt Kennedy also knew him.
They explained to me that I actually lost my memories back then. And I know they were telling the truth because I couldn’t even remember myself when I woke up.
Even my name I couldn’t remember. I didn’t even know about them before.
If Nathan is my friend, maybe he’s also important to me. I feel bad that he’s dead.
“Why? I mean, why is he dead?” I asked her, but Aunt Kennedy stood up and grabbed a plate, placing it on the table.
She was silent for a moment. Even Cassie and Liliane didn’t say a word.
I’ve been asking my friends about it, but they couldn’t answer me. Maybe they don’t actually know why.
“Vishiea… I decided that it’s time for you to go back to our place.” Aunt Kennedy said. I got confused because of what she said. What place? I thought this was my place.
“She’s right. And since we are your friends, we are coming with you. We also want to visit your place,” Cassie cheerfully said, but I could see she was sad.
“Really? When? I’m excited,” I told them. Aunt Kennedy smiled.
“Maybe it’s better if you stay in our place.” She murmured. I confusedly looked at her.
“What do you mean?” I asked, but she just smiled.
“Let’s just eat first and let’s talk about it later, okay?” She uttered, and I nodded my forehead.
After we ate, they left. I followed them, and the three of them were talking on the balcony.
“Did he really know about Aunt Kennedy?” Cassie asked. I hid in the curtains.
What were they talking about?
“What did the king say?” Liliane also asked. King? The king of this palace?
“Yes, we already talked about it,” Aunt Kennedy uttered. I got confused. Are they hiding something from me?
