Chapter 168 Coincidence
Chapter 168: Coincidence
Golden stayed silent all through the sibling exchange. She listened to Lindsay throw subtle shades at her, but she didn't react.
She would have reacted when Lindsay called her a bitch but Xander didn't give her the opportunity to. He immediately stood up for her and demanded an apology.
Golden felt her heart swell with pride and love. She didn't love the wrong guy this time around.
The nerve of Lindsay to call her a bitch when she was fully aware that she had something going on Allan from the very beginning.
Although Allan had most of the blame because he never made things clear to her, she still couldn't excuse Lindsay of the part she played in the whole thing.
“Tell me one thing Lin, were you aware that Golden and Allan were in a relationship?” Xander asked, still trying to give his sister the benefit of doubt.
“Well I wasn't.” Lindsay rushed to answer.
“But you just said they were in a relationship.” he countered.
“I. I. I didn't know initially” she stammered. “He never told me they were dating.” she tried to defend herself.
“So how did you know they were dating?” he asked. “You know what, scratch that. It's not important anymore. Tell me one thing though, did you or did you not know that Golden and Allan were in a sort of relationship before you went about flirting and kissing him?”
“I don't understand Alex? What are you talking about?” Lindsay asked confused. How did her brother know so much? Had Golden said something to him? She looked at Golden.
Golden was equally shocked. She had not exactly told Xander the things that happened in her relationship with Allan.
How was it that he knew so much? And what was with the look that Lindsay was giving her?
“Don't look at her Lin. Just answer the question. Did you know something was going on between them? Or did you not care, as long as you had Allan?”
“He never told me they were in a relationship okay?” Lindsay said stubbornly. She wasn't going to admit to anything.
“He never told you, but you knew Lindsay and still went ahead to make out with him at his siblings birthday party. Do you want to deny it? Or would you rather I give you the details of what you did that night?” Xander asked a little disappointed.
“You told him?” Lindsay turned and asked Golden. “You walked in on us that evening didn't you? And you told my brother about it.”
Golden was equally shocked that Xander knew so much, but she wasn't going to let Lindsay play the victim card.
“Come off it Lindsay. Until tonight, I didn't know you and Xander were siblings. Besides I have never told your brother the details of my relationship with Allan.
You may not believe me, but I'm also surprised he knows so much.” Golden said with a straight face.
“It doesn't matter how I know so much Lin, but I'm disappointed that you would stoop low to go after another woman's man.” Xander said to his sister.
Lindsay screamed and ran out of the room. She ran back downstairs to her room and banged the door.
Her brother hadn't scolded her in a very long time. Everyone indulged her and she always got what she wanted.
Although her brother was the only one who was usually strict with her, he loved her and often pampered her.
Now because of Golden, he had scolded her. So what was the big deal if she had gone overboard board with Allan?
She knew him first. She had been there before Golden ever showed up. If anything, Golden was the one who came in and took what should have been hers.
“Don't you want to check on her?” Golden asked Xander. She was happy he had stood up for her, but she didn't want them fighting because of her.
“No. Not now. I'm still mad at her.” he knelt in front of Gigi, his voice softer now. “Gigi I'm sorry about what Lindsay and Allan put you through.
I promise, she really isn't a bad person. She's been in love or obsessed with Allan for years. Initially I dismissed it because he was never man enough to come for her.
I felt he didn't deserve her so even though I knew she was in love with him, I never did anything about it.”
“How do you know so much?” Golden asked the one question in her heart. “I never told you about them.”
“The night you caught them in the act, I was on the beach. I was in the hut next to yours and I heard your conversation with Linda.
I didn't mean to eavesdrop. I was actually sleeping when you guys started talking. I really wasn't paying attention until I heard your name. Then I heard everything.
I didn't think for a second that the Lindsay that had partly caused you pain was my own sister. I'm sorry Gigi.” Xander apologized.
He was scared that Golden would hold it against him. He was scared that it would affect the relationship that just started.
His sister after all cheated with her boyfriend, not once. He just hoped she wouldn't judge him for the mistake of others.
“Why are you apologizing Xander? I'm not a fool that cannot distinguish right from wrong. Although a wrong was done to me, you weren't the one who did it so why should I be angry with you.
If anything, I should thank you. You stood up for me and defended my honor, not minding the fact that the other person involved was your sister.
You've proven that you are not biased and that I really mean a lot to you. When I first saw Lindsay coming out of the bathroom, I thought the universe was playing a cruel joke on me.
Then you introduced her as your sister, and didn't let her insult me. Thank you for not breaking me.” Golden pulled him up and kissed him.
“Thank you for not judging me by another's mistake. Thank you for not breaking up with me Gigi.
