Chapter 137 The crew is back
Chapter 137: The Crew is Back
“Honestly this is the best surprise ever. I already thought today was unusual seeing that we are all free at the same time. And then you guys showed up.
You know what's even more crazy? It's founders day celebration on Monday so it's kind of a free day for us too.” Golden said.
“Perfect! You wouldn't mind spending the weekend in London then, would you? I can bring you back to school on Monday evening.” Varney said.
Alex looked at Golden expectantly. It was better than the plan they originally had.
They had planned to spend the day with Golden in Northbridge and then return to London for the celebratory dinner.
“Do you even need to ask?” Golden said with a smile. “But can my friends come along too? Kayla's twin brother works for your company V and I'm sure she wouldn't mind seeing her brother again.” Golden asked pleadingly.
“Of course they can. The more, the merrier. I will just place a call to HR to send me more invites.”
Varney stood up and went to the dining area to place the call. He couldn't refuse Golden anything.
He had been worried about how her life in Northbridge would be, but thanks to these girls, Golden had settled in properly.
Looking around at their apartment, he knew that they had made an effort to make it homely. So although he would have loved to spend some quality time alone with just Golden and Alex, he didn't mind having a few other guests.
“So what do you girls think? Are you up for a weekend in London? Kayla I can finally meet Kyle. And Grace, a good break away from this environment would be good to recharge before we have to get back to saving lives.
Elsa, you more than anyone else deserve this break. You don't have to look at diagram or think about what drug would be effective for toothache.”
Golden tried convincing her friends to go with her to London.
“Well, what the heck! Let's go to London! Northbridge will be here when I return.” Grace said, rising to her feet and putting away the game.
“I guess we are going to London then.” Elsa said.
“Kyle is going to be shocked out of his socks seeing me at his company's party. Now he would believe that I actually know the owners sister.” Kayla said.
The girls went into their individual rooms to pack a weekend bag. Alex followed Golden to her room and watched her put some things into a small suitcase.
“You know that you don't have to pack anything right? You are going home.” Alex said to Golden.
“Yeah I know. But I still need to pack the essentials, like my cosmetics. I haven't been to the Manor in over 6 months.”
“Your friends are quite loveable. And I'm so glad you have them. You know I was a bit worried at Christmas and have been wondering how you are truly coping here.
But coming here and meeting the girls in person, I am relieved. I can't wait to get to the Manor, there's so much to talk about.” Alex said with a warm smile.
They soon set out. Golden had told the girls not to bother with packing too many things because they would shop for what they needed when they got to London.
Immediately they arrived, they went shopping for evening gowns. Varney dropped the girls off at the mall and rushed off for a meeting.
He had communicated with one of his drivers to meet him at the mall while he was enroute to London from Northbridge.
The driver was going to stay and take the girls around, while he went for his meeting.
The girls went about shopping and Alex was able to pull the girls in and make them loosen up a bit.
Varney had given her his card to cover the expenses and she made sure they got more than just evening gowns.
“Relax guys, we have money to spend. The first time I met Varney, he offered me a million dollars to be friends with Gigi, so the guy has money.
Don't be shy. We are going for a corporate event. We are honored guests of the Nixons and we represent the CEO. We can't turn up looking basic.” Alex said to the girls, trying to get them to relax.
“Besides we owe you. You made our girl feel at home in Northbridge. What's a little money compared to what you girls have done?”
“Please don't say no guys. This is our way of showing our sincerity to you. Besides, Alex wouldn't take no for an answer.” Golden said pleadingly to her friends.
They finished shopping and went to a restaurant to have lunch. It was fun and they all chatted like they had known themselves for ages.
Alex ever the life of the party told them stories about Florida and about their experience in school.
It was 2 pm by the time they finally got to the Manor. The girls were amazed by the grandoise view of the Manor.
They stepped into the Manor and were equally astonished by the modern nature of the inside, which was a complete opposite of what the outside looked like.
The Manor was a definition of technology meets vintage. Sitting on the couch, drinking juice, and watching a movie, was the last person Golden expected to see.
“Hey bestie! You miss me?” Fab said to a shocked Golden.
“Nerd! When did you get here?” Alex asked Fab equally surprised. She didn't know he was coming.
“Well it isn't only you that is capable of giving surprises. I planned with Varney to surprise you guys.” Fab said as he went to hug Alex.
“Hello my love,” he said as he hugged Alex and gave her a peck on the cheek.
He pulled Golden in for a bear hug. “I've missed you baby” he said into her shoulder.
He broke the hug and spun her around. “Girl, you've lost a lot of weight since we saw you at Christmas.
What are you now, a size 14? You look damn good. We should have sent you to Northbridge a long time ago.” Fab said scanning Golden up and down.
“Girls, you've met Alex. This is Fabulous Lawrence, my other bestie. Fab, these are my friends, Elsa, Grace, and Kayla.” Golden did a quick introduction.
While Golden and the rest were chatting, Alex briefly sent Varney a message.
Alex: “You didn't tell me Fab was coming.”
Varney: “He wanted to surprise you guys.
Alex: “You are my man, you shouldn't keep things from me.
Varney: “Sorry my love. Wouldn't do it again. I see the crew is back together again.”
Alex: “Yeah. Feels good to be together in one place.”
