AUTHOR'S POV
The Next Day
"There has been no response from her still."
Giovanni shook in his rage before palming his face and taking in a shaky breath.
"With every second and minute that passes, there's a risk that Rio is going through hell. There is a chance that he is dying or that he is dead even. How many texts have you sent?" He asked, letting his hands off his face.
"Five texts in total now, sir and there has been no response to any of them"
"I see... Clearly, Rosaline Massimo is just as stubborn and cruel as her uncle. Is there a way I can meet her without Russo knowing about it?"
"About that, I cannot be too sure sir."
"Send her another message. Be pathetic as possible, don't hold back. I am in this pathetic situation right now so don't hold back, I don't need the honour and the pride, I just need my son. I can do with the humiliation this time."
"Yes sir. I will send another text"
"Soon, I won't be the one in this pathetic position. Russo will also feel the pains I am feeling right now. One day, he will feel these horrible pains."

ROSALINE
"Russo" I walked into his study and he looked up at me from his laptop.
The last time I had walked into this study, everything had been so different. Russo had been so cold and I had been cold too, walking in with a letter of resignation.
I almost laughed after my own stupidity now.
"Cara" his voice was warm and I felt my heart glow with same warmth.
"Working?" I asked, about to sit on the chair opposite him but the frown on his face made me stop.
"Come over here"
I suppressed a giggle and moved over to him, sitting on his laps as he pulled me close.
"You looked like you needed the nap after breakfast so I decided to be in here and let you rest" he kissed my shoulder which was slightly exposed.
"Well, I don't know of any woman who wouldn't need a rest after last night" I replied and he chuckled.
"I know you want more though" he made me look after him and I felt my heart skip beats as he looked deeply into my eyes.
I did. I wanted more of last night and I wanted more of... Him, more of this relationship...
'Don't think too far, Rosa. Please' I begged my own self.
"Well..." I tucked my hair behind my ears, feeling my cheeks heat up with a blush.
"The last time I walked in here was to submit my resignation" I decided to change the topic to get those thoughts out of my head.
"Right" Russo chuckled.
"It's not funny" I grumbled.
"Good thing I didn't take the letter to the company. My leave off work is ending today, right?" I asked.
"Yeah it is. You want to get back to working as the manager?" He asked and I nodded.
"Of course. You didn't accept my resignation anyways."
"How about as the CEO, Cara?" He asked and my face pulled into a small frown.
"I know now that everything was a misunderstanding, you don't have to joke about the CEO thing"
"I wasn't joking" he replied and I raised my brows at him.
"Become the new CEO of the company, Cara."
"You are saying this cause you think I still think that you are trying to keep the position away from me" I accused him.
"That's not it, Sunshine. The position of manager is too low for you anyways, CEO suits you better, trust me."
"I don't want to become the CEO" I said firmly.
"I never liked the position. I might not know the details but I know you get your hands dirty as the CEO. I won't be able to do so so I don't want the..."
"I will do all the dirty job for you, Cara."
"You know you call me Cara a lot more, lately?" I asked.
"I do? Well, it's still your name, right?"
"Yeah, I know but you call it a bit more fondly" I replied him, a part of me wishing... Somehow that he would admit something... Rosa! Please!
"I am more fond of you, that's obvious. Will you accept being the CEO?" He clearly avoided the topic.
"No, at least not now. I will think about it though" I replied and he pulled my body closer into his. I threw my head back, letting my head rest on his shoulder.
"Were you really going to harm Rick if I didn't speak up last night?"
"You sure wouldn't have loved to find out cause I sure as hell was going to kill him."
"Russo" I grumbled his name.
"You can't kill my friends"
"You saved him last night." Was his simple response. I was about to reply when my phone beeped with a message.
I pulled it out of my pocket and checked it with a frown on my face.
It was from Giovanni again, asking me to plead on behalf of his son, Rio.
"Russo, who is Rio?" I asked.
"Why are you asking about him, Sunshine?"
"No, answer my question first"
"Rio is the guy from the charity event." He replied and my lips curled into an o.
"Now, why are you asking about him?"
"Here" I showed Russo my phone screen and Russo clearly only read through the first line before laughing.
"I almost feel sorry for this Giovanni" I mumbled with a sigh.
"You can feel whatever you want to feel for him, Cara. That's fine. You do the feeling, I'll do the actions."
"The guy is still alive?" I asked.
"Yes, half alive though but he still screams well." Russo shrugged.
If it was just that night, perhaps I would have put Giovanni into consideration and begged Russo to let Rio go but I knew better.
Rio had done this before and he had escaped easily. If he was freed, he would do it again and next time, he would be more secretive about it, so secretive that the victims would never be heard.
"What are you thinking about, Cara? I am not going to spare him."
"Don't" I gritted the word out.
"Don't spare him. I don't want him spared." I said and Russo smiled before moving a hand to my hair and patting my hair gently.
"You don't have to worry, Cara. He won't be spared and I will..."
"But get rid of him already. I know you, Russo. You must have tortured him so much already, please get rid of him already"
The smile vanished and he sighed before forcing out a smile.
"Whatever you want, Sunshine."
