Jealous Woman
Chapter Seventy-Two – Jealous Woman
Dominic watched the Butler from the corner of his eyes. He had accidentally slipped that he knew the owner of the wristwatch, still the man shouldn't be interested.
"Lucian, I'd be leaving now. Maybe when you're all awake, you can come to my office so we'd talk." He told the boy, who pouted.
The butler made no reaction as he walked away, Dominic sighed. He wasn't very comfortable with this third party that could be awfully loyal to Mr. Allen but he couldn't send him away.
Outside the room, he found Jamie walking to the room. The young man stopped stared at the young master intently, "Did you know your wife was coming?"
"She sudden called, saying she left her family, with the kids. From what Lucian said, she overhead Allen speaking of killing Bethany." Dominic said.
"Oh." Jamie rolled his eyes. "She just realized that her father was unto her older brother now? Is she that dense?"
It made Dominic wonder.
Truly, Brielle's talks with him felt like she was oblivious to everything, because if she's being a spy for her father, all her questions to him wouldn't have given off anything.
"She truly might have been. Which is a dangerous trait in the kind of business she's in." Dominic replied.
Still, it made him sort of glad that her actions against him wasn't due to plotting with her father but only due to the bitterness of having to raise the kids alone.
It was like he was having a change of heart toward her, but he wanted to be really sure she had nothing to do with what happened to him. It'd mend half of his trust issues.
Jamie had a small smile. "Then, she's definitely easier to deal with if she's dense. Have you two spoken yet?"
Dominic shook his head in the negative. "They are sleep. I'd be resting till they wake. I'd leave then." The two walked to opposite directions.
When Dominic returned to his office, he found Selene still in there, sorting papers. Her daughter only watched her. The work was till plentiful that it made him dizzy.
"Have a break, Miss Case Closed." He said, slumping on his seat. "Can't you take work home? Take these home...."
"Unlike you, I'm a mother. I can't just take work home all the time." Selene interrupted, her eyes not leaving what she was doing.
Dominic frowned slightly, he acknowledged that parenting and working was a hassle but it wasn't like she had more than one child.
And Suzy, he looked at her, wasn't demanding. When he lived with them, she acted like she was capable of taking care of herself almost all the time.
But then parenting was different for everyone so he didn't try arguing, not that he'd win against a lawyer. He laid back, trying to force his body to relax.
Suddenly the door to his office was slammed open.
Selene snapped her head to the door. "Dorian! Move more calmly or I'd exile you to a room."
The little boy shivered slightly, nodding. Dominic smiled but it faded when he saw Lucian, Jake and Brielle at the door. Did Lucian wake them all up after what he said?
"Brielle, good afternoon." He said.
The lady's eyes were on Selene who hadn't notice her.
Selene turned on hearing Dominic say her name. "Hmm, I didn't know your whole family dropped by today."
Hearing the lawyer speak softly while addressing them as his whole family, Brielle had mixed feelings.
Wasn't that lawyer always a brutish rude woman, why was she acting like an angel with that soft tone?
She felt so insecure that Selene had been with her husband all the while she was asleep. Selene was a beautiful woman with nice curves.
Even if she didn't dress in a way that flashed them, any man would know she was an eye candy. Any woman too.
It made Brielle furious knowing such a temptation was with her husband, a retired playboy. He had no reason to be faithful now that she divorced him and it troubled her.
"We need to talk. Could you give us some privacy?" Brielle asked, trying to act soft spoken as well.
"Sure." Selena quickly, agreed, stunning Brielle. "Dominic, you could please take them to my own office. I can't move all these papers."
Dominic nodded, leaving his chair, feeling defeated. Just when he thought he had at least ten minutes to himself, he was torn from such delusion.
"No, leave the office." Brielle insisted.
Her voice tone made Selene and Suzy frown.
"We can move, Brielle. This is something we have been working on since morning. Moving could disarrange it." Dominic explained.
The look on Brielle's face made him realize she wasn't even listening to him. Her eyes were intently on his lawyer, who matched her gaze.
"Brielle, your ex-husband doesn't have all day to deal with you." Selena stated simply. "If you want to talk, you should leave now. He still has work left to do."
What's that supposed to mean? Brielle clenched her fists. Suzy left her mother's side, Brielle's eyes followed the girl.
"Come on, Lucian, Dorian, Jake, let me show you my mother's office. It's even prettier than this one." She said.
The boys left with her and Dominic followed behind them, hoping Brielle would come along. The woman stayed back for a while. Selene ignored her and kept on working.
"My husband is just your boss." Brielle reminded.
"More than that actually." Selene smirked. "We share something more deeper than that. A mission. One you can't do."
She spoke about the plan to catch Mr. Allen and Mrs. Jones but she made it sound suspicious to further provoke the jealous woman.
"More deeper? But of course, that's why you feel his office belongs to you!" Brielle raised her voice.
Selene smirked, then shook her head. "Just get out of here already. Unlike you, I'm a busy and focused woman."
Brielle scoffed, before leaving, swearing inwardly to take her husband back in anyway she could. She entered the office she saw her children walk into.
As she walked in, she noticed Dominic's eyes intently on her. "You took your time." He said.
She immediately grew flustered as their eyes met.
