The Coup 2

As expected, there must be interrogations and counter ones. Besides, the Honorable just drove out.

“Is he expecting you, your Excellency?”

Now, his Excellency appreciated the hurdles that the citizens pass through to see their leaders. To be on a safer side, he admitted positively.

“Yes. I sent a message to him a few hours ago.”

“I see. In that case, you may have to give him a call and let him know that you are around.”

Now, Dr. Nkosi showed anger but realized that the security guard, just like his men, was only doing his job. Then, he asked.

“Is he available?”

“Not at all, your Excellency.”

At that moment, he had reached his limit and would not continue to be treated like a commoner in the country where he is the head. Then, with slight anger, he said.

“Thank you.”

Now, he turned on his reverse light and the security van behind him reversed and subsequently, they left. He looked at his wife who sat silently on the passenger's side and inquired.

“What do you think, Diana?”

“I think he is deliberately avoiding you.”

“That is the truth. I will have no choice than to formally invite him to my office tomorrow.”

“That is a good idea. You can also invite the diplomats of other countries too. That would make it more authentic.”

“You have a good point.”

He admitted. They drove on quietly in anticipation for the next day, which may never come.

At the Chairman's Lounge

After the Honorable left, Ken joined his wife in the bedroom and to his delight, he met her sleeping. He walked back to the parlor and gave Mr. Morris a call.

“Hello, son.”

He greeted the moment he picked.

“Hello, father. How is mother?”

“She is fine. How are Dora and Jeffrey?”

“They are good.”

Furthermore, he gave him an update on the rescued citizens, the administration of the vaccines and the murder attempt on Jeff. Then, Mr. Morris, who was disturbed with his explanation and the nonchalance of the Head of the Government, inquired further.

“Where are the syndicates?”

“They are still in our custody.”

“That is good. Let Ahmed interrogate them again and find out how they planned to execute the order of the Head. That would help in our security alertness.”

“You are correct, father. He will do that in the morning.”

“It is all right. Leon and Barnabas will arrive any moment from now.”

Now, Ken giggled and exclaimed.

“Leon! What is he coming to do in South Africa when Jeff would be leaving tomorrow?”

Then, Mr. Morris heaved and pointed out.

“Since Jeff left, he had not given me a moment of rest. I permitted him to visit lest he wears me down with his worries.”

“I suffered the same thing when you were at the hospital. He only wished to remain in the hospital with him and do nothing else, not even going to school.”

They laughed happily and Mr. Morris concluded.

“Let's leave the sworn brothers to relish their relationship.”

“I agree with you, father.”

“It's all right. Good night.”

“Good night, father.”

After the call, Ken meditated on the Head of the Government standpoint and mumbled.

“Why didn't he debunk the allegations against him? Does it mean that he was not aware of the syndicates' confessions?”

After brainstorming and unable to arrive at a good excuse for his indifference, he concluded.

“We shall see the end.”

Then, he joined his wife in the room and slept off.

A few minutes to midnight, Mr. Barnabas Ferguson and Leon arrived at the Chairman's Lounge. Meanwhile, before they boarded, Mr. Ferguson gave Mr. Wesson, his South African colleague, a call and informed him of his proposed visit. Then, he volunteered to pick him from the airport and host him. Now, after they arrived, Leon gave Jeff a call, but he did not pick because he was fast asleep.

“Young Master, sleep tight. I will speak with the International Vice Chairman tomorrow.”

Mr. Ferguson elucidated when they got to the front of the Chairman's Lounge.

“It is all right, Mr. Ferguson. Good night.”

Leon responded and waved at them. Now, Mr. Ahmed and his team were attracted to the car and walked up to them. Then, he saw Leon waving happily and called his attention.

“Leon.”

He turned to the direction of the voice and greeted.

“Good evening, Mr. Nura.”

“Good evening. How did you arrive?”

“Mr. Ferguson brought me.”

“I see. Where is he?”

“He left with Mr. Wesson.”

Now, they were in the parlor and Ahmed spoke.

“I see. Welcome to Johannesburg.”

“Thank you. Where is big brother's room?”

“Does he know that you have arrived?”

“I don't think so. I tried to reach him, but he didn't pick.”

“I see. Come with me.”

He walked him to Jeff's room and he boldly pressed the doorbell.

“Big brother, it is me. Open the door.”

Now, Jeff, who just slept off out of mental, emotional and physical exhaustion, jolted from sleep. He laid still on the bed to be sure that he was not in a dream land and listened attentively. Then, Leon knocked instead of pressing the doorbell, and he got off the bed at once.

“Leon.”

He called out as he walked briskly to the door and opened it.

“Leon. I can't believe this.”

He remarked. Then, Leon stepped closer and gave him a hug.

“Good evening, big brother. What's up?”

Now, Jeff saw Ahmed standing and watching them.

“Thank you, Mr. Nura for bringing him.”

“You are welcome.”

He walked back to meet his colleagues while Jeff ushered Leon into the room.

At the Courtyard.

Prior to Leon's arrival. Although, the security at the Residential Area was beefed up, but Ahmed was not unguarded. Besides, it was a few minutes past 10 PM and Gen. McPherson had not gotten back to him.

“Why has he not gotten back to me?”

He mumbled. Then, he got off his room and walked to the courtyard. To his surprise, his orderly, Val, Ralf, and Rowland were sitting in the garden.

“Good evening, boss.”
