The Coup 3
They greeted. It was understandable if Val and co were outside for security reasons, but what about Drake? Then he teased.
“Drake, why are you here? You don't even have a catapult.”
The team laughed softly and looked at Drake, who was speechless. Then, Ahmed continued.
“If there's any security challenge, how would you defend yourself?”
Drake looked at him and requested.
“How would I know if you don't tell me?”
Then, Mr. Ahmed got a revelation and resolved that every staff members of the organization needed to be trained on security tips and how to defend themselves. After the attack by Mr. Donald the Chairman and the Young CEO, he trained everyone close to Mr. Morris, especially the International Vice Chairman and the Young CEO, on how to handle weapons of all kinds. Then, he began to teach Drake the theoretical aspects of the operation of weapons while they kept watch on the Residential Area. Soon, they noticed that a vehicle stopped at the vestibule, and they decided to take a look. To their surprise, Leon just arrived and Mr. Ferguson left with Mr. Wesson. After, Ahmed took Leon to Jeff's room, he returned to the courtyard and continued with his tutorial with Drake. A few minutes after midnight, to their amazement, they heard the martial music from his device.
At the Government's House
After the meeting at the Defense Headquarters with Gen. McPherson that afternoon, they agreed to take over power from the present leader. Meanwhile, they had not chosen a date for that, but it would not be long before they struck. However, with the arrival of the International Vice Chairman, who allegedly came with fully armed men and the arrival of another private jet from the headquarters, Gen McPherson and his men were intimidated. Although, did not verify the claim of the fully armed men associated with the International Vice Chairman. They believed that there was no smoke without fire. Then, he sent a signal and they swung into action. The soldiers at the government house, like every other soldiers, were trained to do just one thing; to obey the last order. Meanwhile, after the martial song, General McPherson's announcement was broadcast live.
(Fellow citizens, it is very pertinent that the military step into power to salvage the doom that the present government, led by Dr. Samuel Nkosi had plunged us into. You can agree with me, fellow citizens, that it had never been recorded, in the history of this country, that the Head of the Government will be insensitive to the health and welfare of his citizens. This negligence had led to the death of innocent citizens during the outbreak of the influenza. May God repose the souls of the dead. Shall we observe a minute silence for the dead?)
Now, Gen. McPherson paused and that earned him the love of the masses, especially those who were mourning their loved ones. After a minute, he continued.
(Never in the history of this country had foreign companies, which had supported our economy, employed our young graduates and above all, came to our aid when we needed them, been embarrassed. Not only that, a murder attempt on the Young CEO is unacceptable. I apologize to the Cherry Fields Oil and Gas Group on behalf of our dear nation and regret any inconveniences that this have caused you. Nevertheless, all political, cultural, tribal and trade union activities, together with all demonstrations and unauthorized gatherings, excluding religious worship, are banned until further notice. I assure all foreigners living and working in this country that their rights will continue to be held in high regards. All treaty obligations previously entered into with any foreign nation will be respected, and we hope that such nations will respect our country’s territorial ethical codes. In the meantime, all boarders remain closed… Thank you for listening. Gen McPherson. The minister of defense.)
At the Residential Area
“He promised to investigate the allegations and get back to me and not to topple the government.”
Ahmed mumbled after listening to the broadcast. Now, his colleagues were confused.
“Why the sudden coup?”
Val inquired.
“It is their business. We will get to the root of the murder attempt.”
Ahmed emphasized.
“You are right, boss.”
Now, he got off the garden and walked into the main house. Then, he gave the International Vice Chairman a call. When he did not pick, he walked to his room and pressed the doorbell. Nevertheless, the sound of the bell startled the couple, who were deeply asleep. Apart from Jeff and Ahmed, Ken was aware that no other person would disrupt his sleep, especially at that time of the night. He sat up from his bed, and his wife did the same.
“Who is that?”
She inquired.
“I will find out.”
Then, he picked up his phone and attempted to walk to the door. Suddenly, his phone, which was on silent mode, vibrated, and he looked out for the caller at once.
“It could be, Ahmed.”
Now, his wife got up at once and sat on the bed.
“What's up, Ahmed.”
He asked after he picked the call.
“Good morning, boss. A military coup just took place, and I wish that you should know.”
“What!”
He exclaimed before he opened the door and let him into the suite.
“How did you know?”
“We were at the garden and suddenly, heard a martial song and subsequently, the live broadcast of the minister of defense.”
Then, he suddenly remembered the discussion he had with his father recently and asked in apprehension.
“Leon! He is on his way. What do we do?”
“He has arrived. He is in the Young Master's room.”
Ahmed strengthened out in his usual calm manner. Now, Ken breathed down and continued
“That's good. We will not relent in our efforts to get to the root of the murder attempt on Jeff, coup or no coup.”
“You are right, boss. I have the same opinion.”
“Even the Chairman has the same way of thinking. He wished you to interrogate the syndicates again and find out how they planned to execute the order of the Head of the Government.”
“That is a good idea. I would like to interrogate Dr. Nkosi too.”
“That would have been nice, but, by now, he must have been arrested and imprisoned by the military.”
“I know. I will request the minister to take me to his prison.”
“That is a good idea. I'm interested in his perspective.”
“I got it.”
