The Twist of Events 37
Meanwhile, the security officer was through with them and only watched them after he took his seat. There were no visitors at the gate as it used to be due to the lockdown; therefore, it was easy to monitor them. After a few minutes, Mr. Bricks' phone was in the hands of the ICT Manager and his security guards joined the arrested members of the team.
At the Gold Field.
Before Jeff and his team arrived, the ministers were there already waiting with a few people, ranging from their staff members and some military personnel. They were taken aback when they saw the two helicopters landing. To their trepidation, within a jiffy, armed military men surrounded the environment.
'Such sophisticated weapons just to acquire a field!'
Mrs. Bandile exclaimed. Then, Jeff got off his helicopter and the two ministers walked up to him.
“Good morning, Engr. Jomo and Mrs. Bandile.”
He greeted cheerfully.
“Good morning, Mr. Israel.”
They responded simultaneously. Meanwhile, Engr. Jomo was perturbed. Although, he was not the military commander of his country, but he was aware that his country did not possess such sophisticated weapons.
“This company can wipe out our military within a twinkle of the eye.”
He thought. Then, Mrs. Bandile spoke.
“Shall we?”
“Certainly.”
They walked towards the entrance of the field. Meanwhile, Val and some military men followed behind.
“This is the entrance.”
The Mineral Resources Minister announced. Now, Mr. Smith, who came prepared, mounted beacons to keep trespassers out of the land.
At the Gatehouse.
Mr. Bricks was aware that they were under surveillance, and he could not do otherwise. The three men only looked on without communicating among themselves. After an hour thirty minutes of waiting, an unfriendly looking officer walked into the waiting room.
“Follow me.”
He announced without any courtesy. They looked up at once and were startled with his size, which could be best described as a descendant of Anak. Then, the boss asked courageously.
“If I may ask, to where?”
The giant turned and walked out without a word. Then, the officer, who received them, asked.
“Are you not here to see your nephew again?”
As a matter of confusion, the three had forgotten the reasons for their visit, especially with the arrival of the giant.
“You are right.”
They responded and got off the couch. Now, the giant had turned on the ignition of his operation vehicle, and the three got in silently. Likewise, he drove off and shortly, they were at the underground.
“Get off.”
They obeyed at once and got off. Without further comment, he walked them to the reception of the underground. Like a bolt out of the blue, forty-two members of the syndicate were at the reception. Before their arrival, they were interrogated differently, and they gave different responses to the same questions, which implicated them.
“Oh, my!”
“Aaaah!”
“My goodness!”
They exclaimed inwardly when they saw their colleagues. Without wasting time, they were ushered into the interrogation room one after the other. Now, Mr. Clinton Bricks was aware that his end had come, but did not wish to go down the drain alone. Then, he implicated the head of the Government, who had made life unbearable for him.
“I'm not here to pick Mike Bruce.”
He responded with a killing intent written on his face. Now, the interviewers and the media team were taken aback. His personal assistant had confessed that he was there to pick Mike Bruce on the boss' instructions.
“If you are not here to pick him, what are you here for?”
One of the interviewers asked with awe.
“Dr. Samuel Nkosi, the Head of the Government, sent me to kill the CEO.”
The panel of interviewers looked at each other before another interviewer asked.
“What is the CEO'S offense?”
“He was angry that he ripped his government off four hundred hectares of gold fields.”
Nevertheless, the boldness on his face could not contradict his claim. At that point, the Head of the Media Department reasoned with the security personnel, and they concluded that he was in his right frame of mind and would not be dishonest. At the end, they broadcasted their findings with the videos of the suspects' confession and photographs.
At the Morris Ancestral Manor.
It was 4:43 am. Mr. Morris and his wife were relishing their early morning love when Leon, who was bodily in Toronto, but his mind was in South Africa, pressed the doorbell. They looked at each other and Jessica spoke.
“That must be Leon.”
“Why is he up so early?”
“We have to find out.”
“Jeffrey's absence is giving him sleepless nights.”
“No doubts.”
They laughed softly and dressed up.
“What is bothering you, Leon?”
Mr. Morris asked when he opened the door.
“Good morning, Mr. Morris. Good morning grandma. I saw this.”
He explained as he showed Mr. Morris his phone. He collected his phone and glanced at the headline of the story.
(Dr. Samuel Nkosi attempted to eliminate the Young CEO.)
He took his seat beside his wife and read through the broadcast while the two looked at him. Nevertheless, Jessica walked to the room and returned with her husband's phone.
“Take.”
“Thank you.”
He returned Leon's phone to him and turned on his phone.
“Have you attempted to contact Jeffery?”
“Yes. He is at the gold fields.”
“Huh.”
Madam Jessica snorted and remarked.
“Don't tell me that you have been awake, Leon.”
Then, Mr. Morris gave Jeff a call. When the line connected to Jeff, he picked.
“Hello, grandpa. Can I call you back later? The service reception is poor in the field.”
“It is all right.”
Then, he gave the Head of the Media Department a call, and he picked at once.
“Good morning, boss.”
“Good morning, Richmond. Tell me more about the publication.”
Mr. Richmond Wesson narrated all he knew about the syndicates arrest and their confession, and concluded with.
“The broadcast was to be proactive. We are waiting for the reaction of the accused.”
“It is all right. What about the administration of the vaccine?”
“It is going on smoothly.”
“Good. Keep me informed on any progress.”
“It is noted, boss.”
