Chapter 110: The Twist of Events 38
At the International Vice Chairman's Office
He was in a meeting with the director of The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and his team over, Mike Bruce, when he got a call from Mr. Morris.
“Excuse me.”
He announced and picked his father's call at once.
“Hello, Sir.”
Mr. Morris smiled and reasoned that he was not alone and advised.
“Log in and checked the latest news in South Africa.”
“I will do that right now, boss.”
He cut the call and logged in while the General Manager looked at him. He read through the news and controlled his emotions. Likewise, he pushed his phone to Gabriel, and he read through too Then, Ken faced his guests and announced.
“Gentlemen, we have to adjourn this meeting to some other time. I need to be somewhere right away.”
“We got it.”
After they left, Ken showed worries and Gabriel comforted.
“Calm down, Ken. It was only an attempt.”
“What do you think I should do?”
“To visit the country at once.”
“You are right.”
Then, he gave his father a call at once and informed him of his intention.
“That is good. What about Dora?”
“I will take her along.”
“It is all right. Barnabas will join you too.”
“Okay, father.”
(Cut)
Subsequently, he gave Jeff a call. The phone rang until it timed out. When Jeff did not pick, he put a call across to Val, and he picked at once.
“Good morning, IVC.”
He greeted.
“Good morning, Val. What of the Young Chairman?”
“He is inspecting the gold field.”
“It's okay. I will call him later.”
“Okay, boss.”
(Cut)
“Drake.”
He called out immediately. Then, his secretary walked in at once, and he announced.
“I'm leaving for South Africa right away. I won't be long.”
Instead of responding, Drake looked at him with concern and the General Manager, who was aware that he can be clingy sometimes, teased.
“Why are you quiet, Drake? Do you wish to travel with him?”
Drake locked eyes with his boss, and Ken waited for him to answer Gabriel's question. When he was hesitant, Ken dismissed him.
“You can return to your office if you can't answer a simple question.”
“I can answer the question, boss. I wish to go with you.”
They laughed heartily and he sent for Ahmed.
At the Manor
After the call with Ken, the overzealous Leon, who would not take no for an answer anymore, asked.
“When is Mr. Ferguson leaving for South Africa?”
At that point, Mr. Morris and his wife were aware that they could not stop him from going to South Africa.
“Get ready, you will leave with him.”
Mr. Morris announced. In less than an hour, Mr. Ferguson and Leon were airborne to South Africa.
At the Chairman's Office
After ensuring that the fields were secured, Jeff and his team returned to the office. Now, Jeff was tired as well as his team members. He sat on his swivel chair and rested his head on the headrest. Then, he saw a caption that caught his attention on the television and focused on it.
(Dr. Samuel Nkosi attempted to eliminate the Young CEO.)
“Which Young CEO?”
He thought. Then, he looked at Val, and observed that his interest was not on the television. Then, he drew his attention.
“Mr. Noble, did you see that caption?”
At that moment, Val looked away from his phone and focused on the television. When he got the complete picture of the broadcast, he pointed out.
“They are not only into human trafficking, but hired killers as well.”
“Can his Excellency play this dirty?”
“Anyone is capable of anything.”
“You are right. Especially with the compensation.”
Jeff remarked with a silly smile on his face. Val smiled too and hinted.
“That reminds me, the International Vice Chairman called.”
“When?”
Jeff asked enthusiastically.
“While we were at the gold fields.”
“I see.”
He picked up his phone and glanced at it, to his dismay, he had missed numerous calls.
“Oh dear, I never noticed that my phone rang.”
He expressed. Then, he resolved to call his grandfather, who he promised to call back earlier on, first. After all the calls, he worked briefly on other matters. Subsequently after an hour, he yawned and declared.
“Let's go home.”
“All right, boss. We need to beef up security around the Residential Area.”
“You're right.”
Before they returned to the Residential Area, the security around the Area was strengthened.
At the Government House.
The confession of the syndicates came as a rude shock to the Head of the Government. He was yet to recover from the trauma of losing four hundred hectares of gold fields to a foreign country, and now he was faced with the scandal of associating with a killer. He watched the confession over and over again and wondered.
“This man is on the wanted list of the government. How can he say that I sent him to kill the Young CEO?”
With the current circumstances, it was believable that Dr. Nkosi was guilty and culpable. The loss of the four hundred hectares of gold fields and his antecedents gave credence to their claims. What the society failed to understand was that the Young CEO's life was valuable to him than his death.
“What do I do?”
He mumbled. Suddenly, his personal assistant walked in and announced.
“Engr. Jomo and Mrs. Bandile wished to see you, your Excellency.”
He jolted out of his daydream and requested.
“Kindly usher them in.”
“Okay. Your Excellency.”
“Good day, your Excellency.”
The ministers greeted simultaneously after the personal assistant ushered them in. Then, waited for him to speak.
“Kindly take your seats.”
He offered with a gesticulation. They took their seats happily, and Mrs. Bandile reported.
“We are through with the field inspection, your Excellency.”
“Yes. Your Excellency and everyone is happy.”
Engr. Jomo added. Nevertheless, they observed that he was not excited but lost in thought. Then, Engr. Jomo asked with concern.
“Is anything the matter, your Excellency?”
Dr. Nkosi took a deep breath and watched at the television. Then, the ministers turned and watched at the television too, but the program on the screen could not give any clue to his mood swing.
“We shall be on our way, your Excellency.”
Mrs. Bandile announced when she suspected that their presence was a disturbance to him. Likewise, Dr. Nkosi smiled softly and responded.
“It is all right. Thank you.”
