Chapter 88 Almost Swayed

Chapter 88 Almost Swayed
In the middle of the night, holding a glass of wine, William was impotent to find any solace in the room.

‘I put everything at stake, I was willing to lose it all just so she could be mine, I completed my task too,’

Sitting on the sill, his gaze was affixed outside accompanied by unnerving feelings knocking on his hollow chest.

‘All my life, all I knew was losing, all I had tasted was defeat. For the first time I had won in life but why it isn’t as delicious as I imagined it to be?’

His grip on the glass tightened, clenching his jaw when after risking his bond with his siblings, he failed to get Arabella.

After twisting his whole personality, he failed to make her his mindless doll.

‘Why after being labeled as ‘mine’, she is not mine yet? Where am I wrong? What should I do?’

Failing to hold his composure, he ended up breaking the glass, leading it to injure his hand and scatter on the ground.

Creating loud sounds that woke Arabella.

“What the- William?”

In her night slip, her hair was messy, eyes overflowing with exhaustion only to find her husband wide awake.

“What the fuck are you doing? What is wrong with you?” Hissing, she came close to inspect his bleeding hand but he gestured her to stop.

“It’s fine. I will clean it up first and,” He gave no reaction, taking out the shard that pierced, “Do something about it too,”

“Look how badly it’s bleeding. Cleaning can come later. Come, apply something on it,” She scolded.

Watching out from the glass, she grabbed his wrist, leading him back to the room and made him sit on the bed, grabbing the bandages and first aid kit.

“Geez, look at it. What were you doing?”

No matter what, her feelings were always uncontrollable.

And to find a single glimpse of pain inflicted on his bewitching form was unacceptable. She couldn’t permit it and reacted instinctively.

“I was… hungry,” He whispered.

Noticing how her hands were shaking while applying antiseptic, praying it won’t sting too much.

“You have made noodles or something. Oh… Is it hurting too much?”

“No,”

Blowing constantly to lessen his pain one way or another, she carefully wrapped the bandage. She was not surprised at herself.

She knew she was weak in his matters.

Unwillingly, unknowingly, her body would react to his.

“It’s alright, Bella,”

“No, it’s not, from writing, to eating, using your phone, you use your right hand. What will you do now?” She hissed, refusing to release his large hand, a tear pricking in the corner.

“You notice?”

“I know it long ago,”

Tilting his head to get a better glimpse of her beautiful face, he stared intensely with his beats enhancing by each passing second.

For a heartbeat, he remembered the young Arabella that used to panic at his pain, that used to do anything to reduce his ache.

‘How exquisite..-’ He almost swayed but remembered.

‘No, no, last time I got lost in them, she ended up dating my brother. I won’t get fooled again. This means nothing to her,’

He convinced his heart, ignorant of the real reason, breaking the gaze immediately, yanking his hand back, bearing the pain in it.

Taken aback at his abrupt pulling, she called hesitantly, “William?”

Arabella was shocked. William, who desired her warmth, pulled back when she subconsciously provided it.

But, recalling how being intoxicated once led him into heartbreak and being who he is today, he won’t do it again.

“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it. I will clean the wine,” He said coldly, clearing his throat and rose from his seat.

Before she could ask, he left.

“Fine, go,”

Scoffing at his coldness, she didn’t bother to involve herself with him either and went to sleep as he cleaned up the spilled wine while convincing his heart.

‘You must not allow your heart to melt, William. She is Luke’s ex, just a woman needy for love, not your Bella, not the one you loved,’

Filled with disappointment, he took a deep breath and slept on the couch for the rest of the night.

The next morning, Arabella was sleeping, he went to work without breakfast as his hand was hurting and he was not in the mood to cook.

Yet he made breakfast for her, left it on the counter and left for work.

He was working wholeheartedly, using it as a source to empty his worries and focus entirely on his success.

At least he gained a peak in one aspect of life after all.

As he was in his office, his door knocked along with a tempting resonance calling him playfully.

“Hey-”

“This is not your playground, Peach. Wait for me to be done,”

He cut her off without lifting his gaze, engrossed on the screen of his laptop, his computer glasses were slightly off but he didn’t have time to set them.

Glancing at the camera in his home from time to time when Arabella was eating the breakfast he made.

Bringing a feeble smile on his lips.

At the end of the day, she was a source of his tranquillity, the fulfillment of his desires. He forgot the complaint already.

Peach whined, leaning against the door, “You know, you are among the few people who are actually capable of silencing me,”

He didn’t respond, perfectly concealing his smile and continued working as she giggled, pointing her finger at him.

“And I like it. So I am waiting for you, Mr. Grayson,”

“Hmm,”

After being done with work, taking off the glasses and setting his cufflinks, he came to see Peach who was in the lounge.

Humming a melody to herself, she was patiently waiting- a rare phenomenon in her- for William.

“What do you want, Peach?”

She smiled, “I want to meet your wife,”

“Why?” He frowned, against the idea.

“At the party she was wearing a pendant, it caught my eyes, I want to see it again to get myself the same one,”

“What if I refuse?”

“I will bring Luke along and surprise you over dinner,” She winked, pissing him off.

“Come on, William, you know I get what I want and I am asking for that little pendant,”

“Huff, fine,”

“Great! I will see you tonight.”

Grinning, she waved her hand at him and left.

He sighed, along with a thought.

‘Huff, none of this stupidity would have happened if I hadn't brought her into the world. Now bear with this,’
