Chapter 67 The Lost Pendant
After their euphoric moment, she was staring at the man sleeping next to her, only in his trouser, revealing his desirable body.
Her lips quivered, shrinking her eyes, tracing her fingers on the side of his face, endless words she wanted to speak at the edge but she doubted it could do anything.
Because his obsession had blinded him.
But, she believed- Who knows? One day, he might… be how he used to be?
Still- “Am I ever going to be beyond that?”
Whispering, she found no answer- No, in fact, she didn’t want to hear the answer.
William had already answered- He gave up on love and this obsession was his only string of sanity.
She just didn’t want to believe it.
“Hmm? What?” William groaned, rubbing his eyes when he saw her staring at him.
“Did you say something?”
“Nothing. The jug is empty, fill it, I am thirsty,”
She changed her words and no matter how groggy he was, he simply obeyed, picking her jug and filled it.
The next day, feeling abashed, Arabella was sneaking glances that Williamm noticed and got playful.
“What? Why are you looking at me like this?”
“I…” She bit her lower lips, “I feel ashamed,”
“Why so? We are married. What is wrong with wanting each other?”
“Still…”
Sighing, he stopped before her, brushing his knuckles on the side of her face to reduce her distress and reassured her.
“And besides, lust is a natural element too. If I won’t fulfill your needs, who will?”
“I guess…” She muttered but then a mischievous question popped in her mind. He was about to pull away but she held his wrist, arching an eyebrow teasingly.
“So it won’t bother you if ‘I’ use you for my physical needs or materialistic demands?”
He laughed melodiously. Baffled, her mouth left hanging as he kissed her hand affectionately before announcing.
“You can use me ‘however’ you want, Bella, it would be nothing but my privilege,”
A blush rose to her cheek, leaving him immediately to which he smirked. Getting embarrassed, she moved back and hugged herself.
“You should leave,”
“Sure,”
Winking, he blew a kiss at her before grabbing his things and left for her after inducing a strange sensation in her.
William was at work, engrossed in it until the news of Luke’s arrival came.
Amused to hear it, he leaned back on his seat as Luke came with a deadpan expression and threw the pendant on the table.
No matter how much he praised him with Peach, his wrath with him was constant and he refused to melt until he would apologize or express any guilt for his actions.
“My, my, what brings you here when you didn’t bother to see me at the party?”
William smirked impishly at the deadpan man who entered and didn’t bother to take a seat as well.
“I might have if you had left your woman’s side,” He scoffed, curling his hand in a fist, resenting mentioning it.
It tightened his chest, it made him feel horrible.
And today, standing here, he could feel even though William was smiling poisonously at him, a wall had been built between them.
“So what brings you here?” He asked nonchalantly and taking out the pendant, Luke threw it on the table rudely.
“Your bride left it at the party, here,”
William tilted his head to the side suspiciously, Arabella said she didn’t meet him and to find him holding the pendant made him confused.
“Did you meet her?” He asked monotonously, picking the pendant and putting it back in his pocket.
“Yes, I asked her why did she leave me and marry you, she said she misunderstood- No, someone caused it,” He hissed, placing his hand on the table.
“I see. And who is it?”
William continued smiling while he could feel his heart pounding madly from him, professionally hiding the lingering dread of being downgraded from Luke’s gaze.
He prayed hopelessly that Luke hadn’t come to know about it.
No matter how selfish he intended to act but to attain his abhor was distasteful.
In the end, he couldn’t imagine it.
Luke enunciated, “I will find out at all cost,”
“And does she want you to find out? Or want you back?”
“Who knows?”
Taking a deep breath at the determination, William rose from the seat, holding his emotions back and walked up to Luke who stood assertively, placing him gradually over his shoulder.
“Luke, my dearest brother, I had given you everything you have pointed your finger at,”
His breaths hitched and stopped right near him, he whispered in a threatening tone.
“But, not my wife,”
His jaw clenched, removing his hand because the woman he regarded as ‘his wife’ was the girlfriend he lost due to a misunderstanding.
“For now, I don’t want her either. I want the motherfucker who ruined my relationship, William,” Luke muttered, making his foremost intention.
“Who do you doubt?” William smirked, leaning against the table with a challenging gaze.
“Everyone. You too,”
“Here, let me give you a hint,”
“She came to me and was willing to marry me,”
And no matter how twisted it was, it was the truth because William left after showing her those things and later she accepted his proposal.
And he portrayed another side of the truth to his advantage,
“And that is my question, why did you agree to marry her?” Luke growled and stole words from his tongue.
His eyes overflowing with desperation, “Didn’t you know how much I loved her? Didn’t you know I was going to marry her?”
And returning Luke a cold face, William folded his arms at his chest.
“It isn’t as complicated as you think,”
“I couldn’t resist, I couldn’t stop myself.”
To his cold words, Luke’s lips quivered, he became extremely miserable but controlling his scattering emotions, he whimpered.
“Again, huh?”
He nodded, “Again,”
“I see….”
Lowering his gaze with anguish filling, his steps retreated and walked away, scarring their bond, their silence was gobbling them.
That's not how they perceived the outcome of their bonding.
But, William had enough of them, he had chosen this path of destruction himself.
Despite the fear, he had enough of it and the second Luke was gone, curling his hand in a fist, he slammed his hand on the table, scowling under his breath.
‘You damn woman, you think you can hide it from me?’
