Chapter 50 Such Desperation?
“William, wake up!”
Gasping, William found himself back in the room that he had the nightmare about that time again.
But, unlike before, he was woken by Arabella who shook his shoulder as his forehead was sweaty.
Coldness evoked some shivers from within as he rubbed his arm, hoping to remove the pain but it was not there, merely in his nightmare.
“Huh…?”
“You have been grunting. What happened?” She asked, scanning the distressed man.
He swallowed hard, “Nothing…”
Her hand almost touched him for comfort but she hesitated.
He saw through, but not letting the opportunity to slide, he nonetheless rested his head on her shoulder in order to obtain the stolen serenity.
Her hands almost ripped him off but unable to do so- for the sake of humanity, perhaps?- her finger slowly twirled around his locks.
“What happened?” She asked softly, pulling away from him slightly, wiping his sweat with her fingers.
“It’s nothing. Sorry for disturbing you,”
Giving him a strange look, not wanting to extend his pity further, she turned to the side and his eyes stared at the woman beside him in mesmerization.
‘Love makes you weak, love is for the cowards, it hurts. It creates restrictions, and nothing I feel for you should be weak.’
Kissing the strand of her hair, a smile came to his lips, pressing the strand into his cheek for comfort and solace.
‘It should be so strong that all the power of this world won’t be able to break it,’
His eyes closed, falling back into a peaceful slumber, hoping to obliterate all his previous confrontations and sole focus on attaining what he desired.
‘I am glad I no longer have to love you… Now you are mine… all mine without any shackles…’
The next morning, Bella was frowning constantly at him while he was pretending nothing happened and got ready for work.
“What happened to you last night?” She asked sternly.
“Just a nightmare,”
Cutting the talk short, he left, once again leaving her in the place where nothing but her own apparitions were gobbling her.
From the picture on the wall, to the scent scattered in the air, all of it was nothing but suffocating for the caged woman.
Days passed outside but for her, time had frozen.
She was imprisoned within the wall that screamed the result of her wrong choices. That showed her over and again- ‘Your William is dead,’
Thinking with inexplicable perturbation, pacing around the room, holding her sides, her lips were quivering, glancing at reflection in her mirror.
‘What have I done to myself? Where did my life lead me? I promised… then why am I here? Wasn’t this supposed to end two years ago?’
With anguish stacked in her chest, she fell on the bed.
“If.. If I stay here, I will go insane too, no, no, I can’t stay here,”
Her hair was messy, her eyes had bags, exhaustion plastered on her face and she resented her state which was spelling her circumstances explicitly.
“I will submit… I know I will, I will… give myself up to him over, and over again. Each time he will seek a chance, I will provide him,”
Shaking her head in denial, she swallowed hard, uncaring if she was wearing any shoes or not, how she was looking while searching for some money but found none.
Clutching the locket he gifted her, the one she hadn’t worn off after their marriage, she was about to rip it off but couldn’t.
“The fuck is wrong with me!?”
Shouting at her powerlessness, she was determined this time and without thinking twice, when he wasn’t here, she ran out of the apartment without any intentions of returning there.
Since it was time until William would return, she attempted to unlock the emergency door and to her surprise, it was unlocked today.
She checked it everyday continuously but for the first time, it was unlocked, believing fate was on her side, she smiled.
Wholeheartedly thanking the employee who did it, she smirked hysterically.
“That’s it, I won’t stay here. Fuck him and his obsession,”
Pushing her hair behind, she started sprinting down the stairs from the fortieth floor with a glimpse of hopes creeping, a twinkle of expectations growing.
‘Just a little more, Arabella… a little more,’
She was panting, her feet were aching too much from the dashing as all other doors were locked, rendering her unable to seek help.
‘You can do it, Arabella…’
Motivating herself, all on her mind was to search for the nearest police station and seek help from authorities.
Rushing down, she didn’t realize and ended up in the basement parking, smirking when sunlight penetrated through the egress window.
“Hahaha,”
Chuckling to herself, ignoring the looks she received from the residents there and with her dirty condition, ran to get out of the basement.
But-
“Absolutely, It would be an honor in fact- What?”
Having the worst luck, she bumped into a muscular and dominant figure that purloined life within her feet, replacing her two moments of victory with appall.
‘No, no, no, no, please my fate, don’t be so cruel to me…’
And recognizing the scent, tears began to steal her sight, immobilizing her whole being when before her was none other than William.
One hand in his pocket, holding his assertive aura, cutting his talk off when his gaze cascaded to the petite yet frightened woman.
William and his partner turned only to find the trepid, perturbed and messy woman whose whole being submerged in dread.
“Huh? Who are you?” His partner asked in disgust. The sweaty, chaotic condition made him scoff.
William stared at her for the next few seconds, raising both his eyebrows handsomely, flashing a devilishly glimmer that stole strength right from her core.
While his partner was confused and repulsed about who she was.
To say Arabella was scared would be an understatement, gripping onto his coat with a hopeless gaze sensing the murderous aura.
The fury behind his pretty smile made her whimper and shut her eyes in horror.
“Ay, what are you doing? Leave him-” His partner called when William didn’t push her away.
Cursing her luck, shivering, before she could lose her composure and shatter, William broke into a peal of laughter without a warning, bewildered everyone in the parking space.
“My, my, Bella, such desperation?”
