Chapter 104 Outing With Her

Chapter 104 Outing With Her
“So, what can this Lady do for you?” Smirking, she leaned against his car, smoking calmly.
Holding his chin, he thought about it for a moment and shrugged, “Do you want to watch a movie?”
She arched an eyebrow, asking teasingly, “Do you want to watch another animated movie? You will love it?”
“I trust your choice. Let’s go.”
“Cool. Let’s go. I will show you another family-friendly, heartwarming animated movie,” Enunciating cheerfully, she stopped at the passenger seat, tapping her foot.
Sighing, he opened the door for her as she sat excitedly and informed her driver to take her car home.
Beaming, she grinned when they left for the movie and to his surprise, Luke liked it once again, even if animated movies weren’t favorite.
With his mood surprisingly lifted, he was about to go home but Peach demanded an ice-cream it should look like an actual ‘date’ after all and he nonetheless complied.
“Ice-cream,”
“Here,”
She pouted, “Not this. Yours,”
“I knew you would say this. Here,”
“Hehe, you know me,”
Exhaling, they exchanged the ice-creams as he was eating her and she was munching on his and said half-way.
“Okay, I want mine back,”
“There you go,”
They exchanged once again and she couldn’t help but to giggle.
“What?”
“You still remember I like sharing food,” She added to herself, “With you,”
“With me only, Yes. This wasn’t necessarily a thing to forget about,” He hummed.
The fact he hadn't forgotten she loved digging onto his plate since their university times, warmed her heart.
“So, when do I prepare for our wedding?” She winked, pinching his cheeks causing him to whine and slap her hand away.
“In your dreams,”
“Oh, in my dreams, we have four children,” She winked, blowing a kiss at him which he blocked by placing the ice-cream in the middle.
“There were three last time,”
“I was pregnant during that. We just welcomed our fourth,”
Frowning, he opened his mouth to scold her but the glimmering delight in her eyes sealed his voice. He wanted to scold her but her cheeriness silenced him.
Staring back at the joyous lady, an unforeseen chuckle escaped his lips, shaking his head in defeat.
“You and your stupid fantasies,”
She laughed as they finished their ice-cream and Luke was dropping her off.
On the way, she couldn't help but to glance at him from time to time with suspicion. Everything felt surreal, a lie, or fake consolation.
At first Luke ignored it but soon it grew uncomfortable and he cleared his throat when they stopped at a red signal.
“What? Why are you looking at me like this?”
“You look suspiciously calm after meeting her? What did she tell you?” She asked, narrowing her eyes with doubt.
She was curious at what he heard that such questionable serenity was plastered on his features.
What must have happened?
Loosening his collar, Luke's gaze cascaded down to his hands, tightening his grip on the steering wheel, a hesitation brimming.
“Peach,”
“Hmm?”
Luke contemplated the situation, his utter defeat where he gained nothing but heartbreak, doubts and becoming a worse person.
He took a deep breath, “I think I understand what you meant by ‘Destroy what ‘I’ can’t have’”
She couldn’t help but to frown at the enunciation, disliking where he might lead this path and what terrible result it might bring.
“What? Are you going to ruin your sister-in-law’s life?”
He chuckled emptily, "Destroy what was never mine?”
“What do you mean?”
“You were… right. Her and William looked like a couple because she cheated on me with him, she loved him from the start,” Luke informed, letting Peach know with hollow eyes as well.
The love she confessed after it became a burden on her soul, after carrying for years had become agonizing for Luke. It pierced his soul.
Averting her gaze, this did not surprise her at all. Deep down, she anticipated this.
“I don’t know why I am NOT surprised. The way she looked at him-”
He hissed, “Like only he exists for her huh? Like he is her world, right?”
“Yes,” Averting her gaze, staring out of the window, she mumbled.
Scoffing, he rolled his eyes but noticing his discontent, she smirked dryly.
“So shall I assume she cheated and said was drunk but you wanted to confirm if she was or not?”
He nodded unwillingly, “...Yes. And she was sober,”
“So since when was this going on? Since when did she like him?” She asked casually.
“Since she was 15,”
“Holy shit! 15!?”
She almost screamed as this age was not anywhere in her mind.
She thought it wouldn’t be long, that it won’t be a devilishly long journey but to her shock, it was longer than she perceived.
‘No wonder she looked at him like he is her world,’ She thought but knew if she said it to his face, it might infuriate Luke.
“Then why did she get into a relationship with you!? How did she even convince her heart to love another man!?” She snapped.
Wrath rose in her heart on how she could possibly agree to be with Luke when she adored William for so long.
She disliked it too much.
“So I am the other man in her story now?” Luke asked in disbelief.
She hissed, slamming her hand down, “Of course! Now is she what? 24? 25? Ten years, dammit!”
“Nine. She is 24,”
“That’s too much! I can’t even-”
Realizing what she was about to utter in a spur of rage, she sealed her mouth quickly, lowering her gaze and hearing it made her sting.
“That you?”
“Nothing… It just infuriates me when you love one so much yet go for another… What type of love is it? How pathetic,” She muttered.
He hummed, not correcting her either and continued the drive as they stopped outside her place and she asked.
“Is that why you are calm? Why be heartbroken for what was never yours?”
“Hmmm… When she never chanted my name then how could I possibly imagine a future?” He nodded emptily, trying to conceal the ache.
“I see. And if that’s the case, you should leave them be. There is no place for you,”
“I know But, how will I convince my heart? It stings. A lot,” Luke whispered sincerely, clutching his heart to display his pain.
“I can understand but don’t forget, Luke,”
Inhaling sharply, she flashed a deeply grieved yet beautiful smile, reminding him of the reality she had carved into her soul.
“Love isn’t the only painful thing in this world after all.”
Before Luke could argue or reject this premise, she concealed her true emotions behind the frontage of grace and left for her home.
