"I don't care what I lose or what I win! As long as I got you by my side, I'm always winning!

Kathleen watched as he gazed at her intently, lips parted slightly as he looked at her like she is the most beautiful person on earth. Kathleen blinked and she was surprised by his sudden odd behavior. Kathleen's heart was pounding faster than it usually does.
"Umm....hey", she stammered and snatch away her hand from his hold.
"Hey", he greets her with a small smile.
"So, what are you doing here?", she stuttered and she scold herself for asking such a stupid question. She knew people come here only to attend the ball. There was no reply from the other side.
"Um...maybe I should get going... I'm in the middle of something", she mumbled and try to move but he catch her wrist again. Kathleen gulped audibly.
"What?", she scan around to check if anyone was noticing all these.
"Hey....I have something to say", he said nervously.
"Can't you do that later? I have to go", she uttered in a hurry. He shook his head saying a 'no'.
"I'm not sure how you are gonna react to this but just listen to me without cutting in", he stated. She just nodded and she knew something was inexact about him today.
"Hey, umm..... I don't know ....how to start.... umm.....", he stammered rubbing his temple. Kathleen found it fishy and laughable at the same time. But she doesn't want to laugh and humiliate him and his thoughts that he is about to split out.
"Ahm.....it's just.....from the start......actually.... I thought.........", he stuttered.
"Hey, what's wrong?! Come on, you can tell me anything", she assured and he nods taking a deep breath.
"I have been thinking about this for a very long time, especially from the day I met you. At first I thought all this feelings for you is not gonna last long and I was pretending that it was nothing but a fascination. But it was not actually", he explained and Kathleen was confused and a frown forms on her face.
"As days goes by, my feelings for you is getting stronger. I can't wait any longer and lie to myself. Look into my eyes and you'll see that my feelings are true.
That day near the fountain you were lost in your own world, I looked at you with your eyes closed and the little upwards curl of your smile and I saw the sun, the sea and the whole world beaming back at me. And at that moment I knew I loved you.
I just don't know why I love you, but I just know this for sure, I can't stand to see you with someone else other than me. So I say this again, I love you", he confessed.
Kathleen was shocked, she felt like she was hit by a thunderbolt. She went numb and her legs trembled on hearing? those words. She didn't see this coming, she never expected him to say all these things.
"What...??", she gasped.
"Yes, I'm serious about this and about us. You can think I was just flirting with you but no that's not true. I have never felt something like this before, I never had this feelings towards any other girl I have so far been this. Take your own time and I don't expect you to say anything for now but Barbie, I love you so much", he confessed with a smile.
Kathleen couldn't blink, she was froze and her mind was left corrupted. She couldn't believe if it was Robert saying all these words to her. She knew he liked her and he was a obvious flirty, the whole campus knew it. But this side of Robert was something new to Kathleen and she doesn't feel anything towards him at all.
"I think someone is looking for you. I'll catch up with you later", he stated, staring at someone. Before Kathleen could say anything, Robert left the place. She turn around to see what Robert was talking about.
"Come on, we completed the hunt. Let's report it to the members of the committee", he said, dragging her towards the podium.
Before she could react to the situation with Robert, the next incident happened without a break. EJ looked stunning in those black suit and grey mask. The suit cling into him perfectly and all the girls were drooling at the sight of him but not Kathleen.
Her male partner was EJ and Kathleen couldn't say if her day can get any worse than this. She was still shocked and surprised. At this rate, she could get a panic attack for sure. She tried to process things slowly and gradually.

"Hey Gerald!! Hold on", yelled a female voice from a distance. Gerald was walking towards the conference hall, returning from the cloakroom.
He turn around to look at the person, he glanced at her trying to find out who it was. She was wearing a black glittery strapless dress. It was hard for him to find out who was that, as she was wearing a mask but he senses that she was someone very familiar.
Gerald wait for her to reach him as she was finding it hard to walk with her large fluffy embellished dress. The closer she gets, Gerald exactly knew who she was. It was Doris.
"What you want Doris?", he asked her with a frown.
Gerald was a soft hearted person and he never supported the idea of hurting other people. He never liked violence at all. Even when EJ does things that Gerald hates, he just stay away from him. Doris and her friend have did some horrible things to Kathleen, that Gerald can never forgive about her.
"Baby.....I'm so....", she tried to act like some lost innocent kid but Gerald was not ready to hear all this.
"Stop it, okay. I don't want to hear anything from you", he grunted and she remained expressionless. She walks towards him and all of a sudden pounced onto Gerald. She crashed his lips with hers and locked him tight with her hands.
In the meantime, Rachel and Melissa captured this in their mobile phones. They stood there with a evil smile and Gerald tried to push her away, but she was forcing herself onto him.
"What the fuck Doris?", he growled pushing her away hard this time.
"Baby I want you, I'm the one who loves you truly and not that Janice", she hissed.
"You are sick", he huffed and moved away from that place rubbing his lips. Doris walks back to her friends who showed their wicked smiles.
"Did you capture it?", she asked with a smirk.
"Yes", Melissa showed the picture to Doris and it looked like they were kissing passionately and not like Doris was forcing him.
"Well now this is enough to separate that bitch from my man", she smirked her gaze fixated on the picture.

"And the winner of the scavenger hunt is Ethan Jones and Kathleen Williams", announced Elizabeth winters and not even the sound of applause could bring Kathleen back to her senses. She wasn't aware of anything that happened around her. She stood there like a robot with life.
"And it's time for the dance and I ask the other pairs to join along with Kathleen and Ethan on the dance floor", stated Elizabeth winters.
"Hey, what's wrong?", whispered EJ and that made her flinch. Before she could say anything, EJ asked for her hand. She hesitated for a minute but she knew it was a part of the tradition and she couldn't say a no infront of all these people. Though she is not in the right mind state to dance, she had to do it for the sake of others.
And the music begins eventually, EJ and Kathleen move towards the dance floor.? All pairs of eyes witnessed this, few cheered for them, few applauded and the other few envied them.
We were both young when I first saw you......
I close my eyes and the flashback starts......
I'm standin' there
On a balcony in summer air
See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns
See you make your way through the crowd
And say, "Hello"
Little did I know
That you were Romeo, you were throwin' pebbles
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet"
And I was cryin' on the staircase
Beggin' you, "Please don't go, " and I said
Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes"
So I sneak out to the garden to see you
We keep quiet, 'cause we're dead if they knew
So close your eyes
Escape this town for a little while, oh oh
'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet"
But you were everything to me
I was beggin' you, "Please don't go, " and I said
Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes"
Romeo, save me, they're tryna tell me how to feel
This love is difficult, but it's real
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess
It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes"
Oh, oh........
And the song came to end and EJ was holding her waist, kathleen remained lifeless throughout the dance and EJ was wondering was gotten into her suddenly. The other pairs continued to dance while EJ took her out of the dance floor.
"Hey, what's happened?", he asked her lifting her chin. For the first time in the evening, she has looked directly into his eyes, she looked worried.
"Robert....confessed", she mumbled, it was almost like a whisper.
"Robert confessed", she said. He was shocked and he went pale on hearing this. He moved away from her with a frown but she grabbed his hands before he could leave her alone in the dance floor. She was confused, she wanted someone to be there for her, listen to her and tell her that everything is alright.
EJ averts his eyes away from her and he doesn't want to look at her right now. His frown bigger every second, he was angry but Kathleen doesn't understand his sudden change in behavior. He gritted his teeth and tried to suppress his raging fury. He snatch away his arm and walks away leaving her alone.
In a minute or so, Laura and janice scurried towards her side. They gently rub her back and whispered it's okay.
"We were watching every single thing that happened between you and EJ, what's wrong kath?", muttered Janice.
"It's......", she began to say something but the hall went silent and they heard gasps and whisper. All the students were looking at the entrance and someone entered making every jaw drop to the floor.
"Fuck, she is back.....", whispered a girl standing behind Kathleen and her friends. Kathleen, Laura and janice wondered what they were talking about. They fix their glances towards her. She was breathtakingly beautiful with a perfect body structure and had a attitude of the queen. She walked like she owned the place.
"Who the hell is she?", mumbled Kathleen.
