"Are you fucking crazy?" Jake yelled.
"Okay….relax now…" Kayla said.
"You drop a fucking bomb on me and expect me to relax? Kayla come on"
"Okay…let me explain"
Kayla then narrated the story of how she met Xavier and how he saved her, how he disappeared for a week only to propose a contract marriage that would last for just three years.
"Three fucking years"? Jake asked.
"Yes..it's just three years, and comes with enough money that could sustain us for a while" Kayla replied as she tried to act unbothered.
"Is Daisy aware of this"? Jake asked again.
"No of course not, but I'm not planning to keep this from her, I will tell her myself tonight or tomorrow" Kayla replied.
"I need some booze to process this"
Jake said as he opened the fridge and grabbed a can of beer.
"So where is the supposed husband"? Jake asked as he passed a can of beer to Kayla.
"Out on a business trip" Kayla replied,
The duo remained in a comfortable silence until Jake broke it
"I know things aren't okay at the moment, I know you feel like you need to handle everything and trust me you are doing so well, bit I just hope that this decision was truly yours and you aren't under some kind of external pressure…well except money, I will support you in every decision you make Kayla I just want you to know that, Jake stated.
This made Kayla really teary as she leaves the couch to hug her best friend, after the whole emotional drama they both ended up watching their favorite Comedy show.
Kayla called Daisy to inform her about the situation of the house and how she moved some of their stuff to Jake's house, so Daisy has to return tomorrow morning.
While watching the comedy show Jake and Kayla dozed off and a certain brown eyes haunted Kayla's dream and thoughts.
Morning came and Daisy arrived from the hospital to Jake's house, but Kayla was already awake.
"Good morning, sis" Kayla greeted as Daisy walked into the door.
"Good morning my baby sis, How are you?" Daisy said in return as she pecked Kayla's forehead.
"It must have been very stressful for you to do the moving," Daisy continued.
"No..it was okay Jake helped a lot" Kayla said.
"Alright"
Daisy proceeded to freshen up and Kayla whipped up breakfast. She was making Omelette and bread as the only ingredient Jake had in his fridge was eggs, vegetables and bread.
After breakfast, Jake decided to head out leaving only Daisy and Kayla at home, he figured that Kayla would need this time to tell everything to Daisy.
Kayla kept stealing glances at Daisy who was really focused on her phone, she had been trying to search for jobs online but they all had a high demand and offered to pay little.
"Is there someone you want to say"? Daisy asked,
"Sis..I have something to tell you, and I need you to just support my decision" Kayla stated.
And for the second time Kayla started to narrate her experiences with Xavier down to the meeting with doctor and her Impulsive decision to just get married at that point to be able to raise money for the treatment,
Daisy pulled Kayla to her immediately she finished explaining, at this point both sisters started cry.
"Is he a good man?" Daisy asked.
"Yes, Kayla said as she tried to wipe her tears.
"Everything will be fine" Daisy said as she consoled Kayla.
Kayla broke down and cried for a solid One hour while Daisy held her while she cried.
When Kayla finally stopped crying she asked Daisy to get dressed as they were going out for shopping.
Daisy agreed and they both got dressed and left the house.
Getting to the mall, Kayla remembered that Xavier had told her to get a new set of clothes and Kayla just did that, they called Jake who also met up with them at the mall,and they did a lot of shopping.
Afterwards they headed for grocery shopping and Kayla bought enough things to last Jake and her as well as her sister when they moved back to their apartment.
Kayla decided she was going to the diner herself to talk to Mr John about her resignation and although Jake tried to convince her to let him come with her she refused.
Kayla got to the diner and it wasn't the rush hour yet, people sat down on various tables while eating steak.
Kayla then explained to her boss that she needed to quit although she didn't disclose the reason why John didn't bother to ask.
John wished her all the best and told her a space will always be vacant for her, she collected her months pay and left the diner.
She had just gotten outside of the diner heading back to Jake's apartment when she got a phone call from Xavier
"Where are you? Send me your address so I can come pick up your stuffs," Xavier said calmly.
Kayla without thinking it over sent the address to him and continued her strolling, when she got to Jake's apartment, there was a black Maybach waiting outside and she figured out it was Xavier.
Before she could say anything, Xavier stepped out of his car and approached her, taking her right hand. He slipped in a ring on the right finger and Kayla remained mute.
