Chapter 18

Kayla headed to the diner and she was early as usual, Kayla started the set up at the bar as she chatted with Jones the bar manager, ever since John handed her over to Jones, before the start of every shift Jones made sure to teach her one or two tricks and Kayla was really smart so she picked on quickly.

Soon the whole place was booming and busy, Kayla was making drinks and she was getting it right this time, but sometimes her eyes would scan all over the place looking for Xavier but she couldn't see him.

Well, Xavier arrived at the bar late but decided to sit at a corner, he noticed Kayla was actually searching the bar and he knew she was looking for him, but he wasn't going to present himself, Not yet.

The diner closed for the day and the tips were shared, as Kayla was about to leave the diner, Jake came in.

"Oh my God Jake, what are you doing here"?, Kayla said as she hugged Jake.

"Decided to walk home with you, you promised to tell me something, did you forget"? Jake asked as he hugged Kayla back.

"Oh that's right", Kayla replied as she turned back to greet everyone goodnight as she left the place with Jake.

Kayla and Jake left the diner as they strolled back home.

"I know Tristan didn't pay you back the money, so spill how did the money come about", Jake questioned.

"Well…. whatever I'm about to say to you Daisy must never find out" Kayla said, it wasn't like she didn't want to tell her sister, but she knew her sister was still reeling from Divorce and coupled with Father's condition, Daisy already had a lot on her.

"You are scaring me, Kayla what happened"? Jake asked.

Kayla then began to narrate everything that happened from when she went to meet Tristan and the Insults Tristan had given her, how he refused to pay her back the money and how his new girlfriend demanded she begged before the money be given to her.

Kayla talked about Bryan and how he helped her get admitted in hospital, to the meals he brought and their chemistry.

She told Jake about everything that happened at his house after he had given her money. She felt like she could only pay him with body so she gave it to him.

Jake was amused, and surprised because Kayla was a rational person and she wouldn't do things anyhow.

Kayla then explained everything that happened afterwards, the meeting with Erica, and how she left Bryan's car immediately.

She felt like the best thing to do was to try to forget about him, so she could focus on her life but that seemed impossible.

After Kayla finishes narrating her story she looked at Jake waiting for him to say something, but he was just looking at her with a stupid smile on his face.

"Oh my God, you like him,"Jake said.

" So that's your take, from everything I had just said seriously Jake" Kayla whined.

"No, no, no, but I'm still trying to process"

"You need not to process anything" Kayla said as she folded her arms

By this time they already arrived at Kayla's apartment.

"Who are you and what have you done with my best friend? I can't believe it Fucking Kayla Thoma had a freaking one night stand, a steamy as a matter of fact" Jake screamed.

"Would you bring down your voice?" Kayla said as she tried to cover Jake's mouth but he was obviously taller than her so it was a Total fail.

Jake promised not to tell Daisy and never bring up the matter again, Kayla offered Jake to come upstairs so they could binge a movie series and Jake accepted.

Kayla and Jake went upstairs and Daisy was still awake,

"Hi there sister," Daisy said.

"You still up? Well that's weird," Kayla asked.

"Have been sleeping all day now I can't even sleep" Daisy said in response.

"You should have gone to Kayla's diner, if you were bored or something," Jake chipped in as he settled himself on the couch.

"Are you sleeping here?"Daisy asked.

"Obviously, Kayla sometimes just wants to keep me around," Jake replied.

"Oh come on it's already too late to go back" Kayla chipped in.

'Sleep already' Daisy said as she turned off the tv.

The goal was to watch movies but Kayla was already tired and she fell asleep immediately after showering.

A week passed and every night Kayla will wait for Xavier to appear but he never showed his face, so she thought maybe he had forgotten about her, and despite the fact she gave him her number he never called back.

But for every night Xavier was present at the bar, he had been following Kayla for a while now, from the hospital to the bar.

Two weeks passed and one fine night, Xavier decided to reveal himself, he walked up to the bar and sat on east across it,

"A glass of neat scotch" Xavier ordered,

Immediately Kayla heard his voice her heart skipped a beat, she turned and her gaze met Xavier's eyes, his blue striking eyes.

"Alright" Kayla replied as she turned a glass of scotch for Xavier while adding the ice.

After passing the drink over to Xavier, she grabbed a glass of water to drink.

"Kayla Thomas" Xavier uttered calmly,

And the glass Kayla was holding slipped from her hands.

Immediately Jones came to meet her,

"What's the matter, Skylar?" Jones asked.

"Oh.. Skylar I mean.." Xavier drawled out..

" Nothing Jones I'm completely fine,the glass just slipped I don't know how" Kayla said as she dried her hands while getting a broom to clean the area,

"Alright" Jones turned around and left.

Kayla gave Xavier a dead stare.

"Why did you call me that?" Kayla asked.
