Chapter 17

Kayla had tried to hide her face when she saw the guy raise his hands to slap her, she waited for the slap but it never landed.

"It's very rude to hit a lady mister" she heard someone say as she tilted her head to see who it was,

Her gaze was met with striking blue eyes, her savior had a slim pointed nose and a refined jawline, he had jet black curly hair which fell backwards.

While she was still looking at the man who had come to her rescue, John arrived at the scenario.

"Lad.. I have been looking for you at the bar, why are you here? What's going on here? John asks as he pulls Kayla aside.

The guy who had been misbehaving with Kaylar tried to say something,

"This bitch slapped me!" He retorted.

"Now don't lie, you misbehaved with this lady over here, you touched her inappropriately" the guy who had stopped the other man from slapping Kayla interrupted.

"Yes, that's true," Kayla added,

John called over the bouncers and they threw the other guy outside after giving him a serious beating.

John apologized to Kayla and escorts Kayla back to the bar, Kayla tried to thank the man who had saved her but he left immediately.

Kayla headed back to the bar and continued serving drinks, gradually the place became empty.

Kayla was drying up the glasses, when the handsome stranger who had saved her approached her

"I love what you did there," he said calmly.

Kayla almost dropped the glass she was holding as she raised her gaze, it was the same striking blue eyes.

"Thank you for saving me back there," Kayla said.

"It's nothing, what's the name"

Xavier asked.

"Why..? Kaylar replied, as she arranged the glasses she just cleaned.

"That's the least you can do, tell me your name" Xavier asked again

"Skylar" Kayla uttered,

"Hmmm… Skylar" Xavier replied.

"Nice name" he added,

"Yeah.."

Few people still hanged around the bar, but Xavier and Kayla were having a good conversation.

Soon John walked up to Kayla and informed her it was time to close, that was when Xavier realized he was the only customer left, he paid his bill after getting Kayla's contact which took a great difficulty.

Xavier left the diner and as usual the workers gathered around to eat the leftovers steak while sharing tips and gisting.

After that everyone left the diner and decided to stroll home instead of taking a cab, she took her time as she walked home humming her favorite song, as she reminisced on her conversations with Xavier.

She got home in a matter of time and as she opened the door she realized it was empty, that means Daisy decided to sleep over at the hospital.

She showered and decided to call Daisy, after two rings she finally answered the call

"Hello Sis, are you back?" Daisy asked.

"Yes, why didn't you come back home, you need to take care of yourself daisy and let the nurses do the job, I know you worry about Father's condition but you can't neglect yourself as well." Kayla replied at a go.

"I'm really sorry I lost track of time"

Daisy apologized,

"Alright" Kayla replied

The duo talked on the phone for a while as Kayla told her about the night incident, although she missed out the after conversation with Xavier, she didn't just feel like sharing that moment with anyone,

That's the reason why she couldn't tell her sister about her experience with Bryan neither did she want to share this one too.

Kayla dozed off while Daisy kept on talking, when she realized that Kayla wasn't responding again she ended the call with a chuckle and sleeps off.

The next morning arrived but Kayla was still asleep till noon, Daisy returned from the hospital and also joined her to sleep.

But on the other side of the city, a certain someone couldn't stop thinking about Kayla or Skylar as he thought.

Xavier pondered on the conversation they had last night and he was able to draw out facts that Kayla was really educated and exposed,

She was charming and kept the flow going, he could feel the chemistry between them and he knew she could feel it too.

It was the faint blush in her cheeks that gave her away.

Immediately Xavier called a private investigator and demanded they bring to him everything about Skylar.

Xavier was ready to seize this opportunity, he needed a wife to subdue the pressure his parents were putting on him, and Skylar seemed like the right person for that.

When morning came, The investigator who Xavier had called sent all the info about Kayla to Xavier, he found out that her real name was Kayla, and about her father's condition, and the financial predicament she is in presently,

He decided he was going to charm his way into Kayla's heart as her background info looked clean, no love interest or rival and that will save him the time he thought to himself,

Xavier concluded that Kayla was the one for him and he was going to make her his, matter what!

On the other side, Bryan's search for Kayla was interrupted as one of his companies was facing serious crises,

Hence he had to leave the country.

Kayla and Daisy both slept for a long time and they woke up really late. Daisy wanted to rush to the hospital but Kayla stopped her, so they decided to do laundry together.

After the laundry was done Kayla decided that they should go out to eat instead of cooking that way they could save groceries and shop some other things they needed

Kayla was really prudent with her earnings with every tip she earned she kept aside a percentage for her Father's Medical bills, the money wasn't much but by the time month ends she would have gathered enough.

Both sisters strolled around the neighboring town mall after eating a late lunch, picking out a few things that were needed from the house.

Daisy really wanted to go to the hospital but Kayla convinced her otherwise, Kayla decided to go to Satisfy Daisy, after which she will head to work.
