Chapter 60

Chapter 60
"Go, don't keep Mr Williams waiting." Charlotte gestured.
Bella nodded and left. Charlotte stood up and returned to the working room. Just like she promised Bella, she worked for an hour before taking her bag. She went to find Bella.
"I'm leaving."
Bella nodded and stood up. "I'll see you out."
"No," Charlotte mumbled. "You go on with your work."
"Did you come with your car? Do you want me to..."
"Melvin is here to pick me up. I called him."
Bella nodded. "You take care of yourself." She hugged Charlotte. "And thank you."
"You're welcome."
"What about Jade and Mia? Are they leaving with you?"
"No, they are not. I don't know when they will leave." Charlotte stared at her phone. "I have to go. Melvin is calling."
Bella nodded. "Goodbye."
Charlotte left the working room. She met Mia on her way out.
"Leaving already?" Mia said. "Melvin must be here to pick you up. I saw him outside."
"Yes, he's here to pick me up."
"Goodbye, then," Mia said. "I'm still here until late at night."
Charlotte nodded. "See you around. Take care of yourself." Charlotte waved, and then left.
On her way out of the academy, she met a few workers who greeted her.
"You seem popular here," Melvin said, opening the car door.
"I guess I am. Did you go to see Liam? Is he back home?"
"He doesn't want to come home yet," Melvin answered. "He said you're busy with his godmother, and he doesn't want to disturb you."
Charlotte raised her brows. "He said that."
"He did," Melvin answered. "So I had to leave him."
Charlotte was surprised. Her baby had grown up.
She entered the car. "Who entered your car?"
"Matthew? Is there a problem?"
"It's not Matthew, Melvin," Charlotte said. "I can smell a female perfume."
"Oh, that," Melvin mumbled. "It's Matthew's girlfriend."
Charlotte stared at him suspiciously. "Matthew doesn't have his car? He decided to take his girlfriend in your car?"
"No," Melvin answered. "He..." He groaned.
How is he supposed to convince Charlotte that Matthew took his car to pick up his girlfriend because his car wouldn't start and they were running late?
Charlotte frowned. "You don't know what to say?"
"No, I..."
"I'm done having this conversation with you."
Charlotte came down from the car and returned to the Academy. Melvin was confused.
She wouldn't even let him speak.
He didn't try to go after her; he didn't want to create a scene. He called Bella instead. Bella picked up at the first ring.
"Hello, Melvin."
"Hello, Bella. Have you seen my wife?"
"Did she not leave with you? She..." Bella saw Charlotte walking toward her. "She just walked in. Did something happen?" She said in a low voice.
"She thinks I'm cheating on her. I tried to explain, but she won't let me."
Bella sighed. "I will speak to her."
"Thank you, Bella."
Bella shook her head. "Don't thank me yet. I need to speak to my friend. What she says will determine if I can help you."
Melvin sighed. "I heard you. Whichever way, I still want to say thank you."
Bella ended the call and stood up. She walked up to Charlotte.
"Come with me."
Charlotte followed her to the relaxation room and burst into tears when they were behind closed doors.
"He's cheating on me."
Bella didn't say anything to her. She only hugged her and let her cry her heart out. When she stopped crying, she handed her a tissue and helped her sit on the bed.
"Do you want to talk about it now?"
Charlotte nodded. She went ahead to explain everything.
"Maybe he didn't cheat, and I'm just being emotional," she said.
Bella sighed. "You're not being emotional, Charlotte. You're only worried someone is about to take him away from you. And that's normal. That's because you love him."
Charlotte stared at her. "Really?"
Bella nodded. "Yes. You did the right thing. But now I want you to listen to his explanation. You really need to know if you're the only one in his heart."
"What if he lies?"
Bella smiled. "Do you think he will?" Charlotte shook her head. "Do you think he will cheat on you?"
Charlotte shrugged. Maybe he won't. Aside from Alexia, they haven't had any issues concerning any other woman.
Bella smiled. "You don't believe he will cheat. That's the main reason you should listen to his explanation."
"And if he cheats?"
"We file for a divorce and make sure he leaves the marriage with nothing. Not only that, I will make sure to send people to beat him up."
Charlotte smiled. "Isn't that too harsh?"
Bella shook her head. "Of course not. Who asked him to cheat on my bestie?"
"Thank you," Charlotte said with a smile. "You just lightened up my spirits."
"I'm glad I did."
Charlotte stood up. "I'm leaving." Bella nodded. "I'm sorry I took your work time."
Bella shook her head. "You did not."
Charlotte smiled. "Good night. Hopefully I won't come back."
"You won't," Bella said.
Charlotte left the relaxation room. Bella placed a call to Melvin.
"Did you speak to her? How is she?" Melvin asked.
"She's fine. I spoke to her. She's already on her way to meet you. I don't know if you cheated. I want to believe you didn't. I..."
"I did not," Melvin defended.
"Then explain that clearly to her."
"I wanted to, but she wouldn't let me."
"That's because she was emotional, which is okay for her condition. You just have to speak to her calmly and make her understand."
"Thank you, Bella."
"I'm glad I could help."
The call ended, and Bella returned to work. Melvin came down from the car and waited for Charlotte. When he saw her, he rushed to her.
"I'm sorry," he mumbled. "I should have explained better."
Charlotte nodded. "You should have. And I hope you will now."
Melvin nodded. "I will."
Charlotte entered the car; Melvin did too.
"I'm all ears," Charlotte said. Melvin went on to explain everything. "Is that what happened?"
"Yes. I can call Matthew if you want me to."
Charlotte shook her head. "There isn't any need for that. Let's go home."
"Have you forgiven me?" Melvin asked. "You are no longer angry, right?"
Charlotte nodded. "I'm not."
Melvin sighed, smiling. Finally.
"I'll take you home," He said, driving off.
Charlotte brought out her phone and texted Bella, telling her the issue had been solved.
'I'm happy to hear that,' Bella sent back.
Charlotte returned her phone to her bag and rested on the chair. It wasn't long before she fell asleep.
Melvin got to the house and stopped the car. He didn't wake Charlotte up. Instead, he came down and carried her into the house.
Charlotte opened her eyes when he dropped her on the bed.
"We're home?"
"Yes, we are," he answered.
Charlotte sat up. "I need to take my bath."
"I will go and prepare the bath," Melvin said.
Charlotte nodded. Melvin went to the bathroom and then returned a few minutes later.
"Your bath is ready. Do you want to eat something?"
"Something light," Charlotte answered, heading to the bathroom.
