Chapter 13 The Fight
Adrenaline rush into my veins as I receive a punch from my opponent. The metallic taste of blood fills my mouth instantly and I spit it out quickly dodging another punch he throws my way.
“Stay still let me kill you, little flea,” He says, his eyes filled with the intent to kill and it makes me smile.
He is indeed a worthy opponent. I should definitely thank Tan later.
Without wasting much time, I send a blow to his face, the satisfying sound of his nose being broken on impact makes my grin even wider.
This time I wasn’t seeing a man. I saw every bit of mistake, lies and resentment that I have been carrying.
I didn’t let him recover from that before punching him over and over again, channeling all my rage into my hands, not giving him any space to land a hand on me.
Hearing his groans seems to calm my inner demons as I inhale and exhale deeply. He throws a weak punch my way and I swivel, going to his back and landing a blow with my elbow on his back earning another satisfying crunch.
He definitely didn’t see that coming. He buckles to his knees, his groaning growing louder and the crowd cheers growing wilder.
“Come on. Stand up, we don’t have all day,” I said, stretching my fingers which felt sore but it gave me a sense of serenity. “Except you would like to yield.”
“I won’t yield!” He growled, standing up, curling up his fists but before he could touch me I sent a fatal blow to his head and he fell on the ring unconscious.
The referee walked towards him and bent low to check his pulse. I stood up right as he announced me the winner. The crowd shouts and cheers roar around me, a visible smirk formed on my lips.
I looked up ahead at the VIP lounge and our eyes met. Instantly, my heart skipped a beat, my brows furrowed in surprise and is it guilt as well?
What the fuck is she doing here?
I tried to push through the crowd to get up there but I could see that she was sprinting away towards the door. My heart sank in my chest.
What did she think of me now?
I ran my fingers through my hair frustrated and I ran up the stairs pushing everyone in my way. I opened the door and I scanned the whole room. Tan walked towards me but before she could speak, I stopped her.
“Where is she?”
Tan’s brows shot up. “Barth, you just won. We need to go collect your earnings and stop worrying about irrelevant stuff.”
My hands flew towards her and I grabbed her, shaking her violently that she squirmed with a painful expression in her eyes.
“Where the hell did she go!?” I growled.
“She… she went downstairs.”
My eyes scanned the room. Everyone was standing, staring at me with shock.
“Who brought her here?” I asked.
No one gave me a response. Cindy pursed her lips avoiding my gaze. Muller ran his fingers through his hair, exchanging glances with Ryan who looked unbothered.
My gaze went back to Tan.
“I asked a question. Who brought her here?” I said in a low voice.
“Ryan did,” She replied.
Pushing her away, I walked towards Ryan. My fury growing slowly by the minute. He stared back at me, jaws up. My jaw tightened.
What was he trying to prove?
Not only had he gotten closer to Yvonne, he brought her here!
“Why did you do that?!” I asked, curling up my fists.
His eyes glanced down at my clenched fists, swallowing as I saw a trace of fear in his eyes as he looked back at me for a second. He straightened his shoulders in defiance.
“I thought she had to see who exactly she had as a brother,” he said with a visible smirk on his lips.
Suddenly, a red mist covered my eyes. I couldn’t think. I couldn’t breathe. My fist moved before my brain could stop it.
Bang!
He flew to the floor under the impact of my punch.
“Stay away from her!” I warned.
I sprinted downstairs hoping Yvonne hadn’t gone far. I felt the need to explain. I felt the urge to know what she thought about me now, I had told myself I never cared before but I lied.
I had lied to myself.
I cared.
Finally, I got a glimpse of her in her friend’s arms as they tried entering a taxi.
“Yvonne!”
They both turned back but she shook her head and entered inside. Before I could reach them, the taxi zoomed off. I saw her crying eyes through the window and I felt my world shatter before me.
