Chapter 129 My Mother Called
Chapter 129 My Mother Called
Dustin's POV
"Julia! Julia! Come back here!"
Blake's frantic voice woke everyone up.
"Jenna, go check on the kids. I'll go check what's going on." I told Jenna as I came out and saw Derek.
"Heard Blake?" He asked, concerned. "I told Isabella to check on the kids, let's go." Derek said as he led the way.
As we reached Julia's cottage, Blake was literally in tears as he was calling out to Julia, who was nowhere to be seen.
"Blake, what's going on? Did you both have a fight or something?" Wade asked, concerned.
"Nelo, take a few with you. Follow her trial and bring her back safely." Gabriel said in a pleading voice.
"Yes."
"Blake, relax, and tell us what's going on? Julia will be safe, and back." Wade said in a warm voice.
"Actually, we were sleeping. Suddenly she started saying, "No, mother, I didn't mean it. No, mother, don't leave me. Then she woke up screaming, 'Mother', and ran out. Her force was beyond my ability to hold her back. I..I--"
"Blake, she must have had a bad dream about her mother, that's all. Nelo will bring her back. Don't worry." Denis said in a concerned voice.
Just then Nelo came back carrying a fainted Julia in his arms.
"She was on the ground in front of the altar." Nelo said, handing Julia to Blake.
"Okay, everyone go back, and let's see in the morning." Gabriel said as we all went back.
But I was restless the whole night.
The next morning over breakfast, the girls were hovering over Julia as they were concerned.
"Girls, thanks, but I really don't know what happened. But it was my mother, she called me saying Julia, why did you, why didn't you. I was...it felt like I committed a crime, and her soul was calling out to me.
"Mother, you would if you had one, or ever saw her." I said in a frank voice.
"What? What do you mean by that? Dustin, everyone has a mother. And, even if she didn't see her mother, that doesn't mean--"
"Blake, you're forgetting she grew up with me." I said explaining. "Actually, at that time, I was six years old. We and a neighboring pack were at odds. Our guardian pack was at the border round the clock so we set a healing camp for them. Julia's father was the assistant. He had been at the border for five months. When the troupe came back, they said he was missing in action. He came back after three months holding Julia. He said a kind couple took him in, treated him, fed him, and one day, when he woke up, there was no sign of them. No robbery, no attack, but they were gone and they left the baby. So he took the baby and came back. She was barely two months old. And, Julia's father showed her his demised wife's photo, who Julia has been believing is her mother. So, that mother will never contact her, and he raised her a warrior." I said in a frank voice.
"Yes, and all these years, I was content that I was my father's daughter. Who I am, never came in my mind. But that lady, her voice, it was...secudtive." Julia said recalling the voice.
"Julia, Nelo said he saw you fainted at the altar, do you remember anything?" Jennifer asked, concerned.
"Altar? Really? Can he vow that?" Julia said with pinched eyes.
Gabriel gave a signal to Rudi.
"Lady Julia, you called. Regarding last night, you were indeed at the altar." Nelo said, replying.
"But, Nelo, I went following the voice to the south forest and entered a cave, then--"
"Lady Julia, the south forest lies behind the mountain. I daresay, the cave you entered was a passage. What do you recall?" Nelo asked in a concerned voice.
"I walked in a little as the voice kept saying, 'We're almost there. But then I--"
"Fainted." (Julia nodded) Nelo spoke requesting. "Prince, allow me and some guardians to go check the cave. Maybe we might find something."
"I think that's a good idea. I'll go with you." I said as I got up.
"Dustin, Nelo is going isn't he, and Jenna, aren't you going to stop him?" Claude says concerned.
"Claude, Dustin is her pack brother. He'll be able to sense her and perhaps the voice as it may contact him too." Jenna said, explaining.
"With him? Why would she talk to him?" Claude said in a confused voice.
"Claude, It's obvious she's not her mother. Maybe what the daughter couldn't see in the cave, the son might." I said in a frank voice.
Then I took my leave with Nelo, and we soon arrived at the opening of the cave.
"Okay, Dustin, are you sure we should go?" Nelo said in a frank voice. "I mean--"
"Nelo, don't worry. You're an immortal, and I'm the Alpha of Shadow Walkers. Nothing can harm us. Let's go." I said as I stepped inside of the cave.
As I and Nelo came out on the other side, we stood before the altar.
"This is where I found Lady Julia fainted." Nelo said, sighing.
"She recalls having entered, but not coming out. According to her, she fainted midway in the cave. So someone must have brought her out, but who?" I said as I kept pounding over this thought.
"Dustin, didn't you feel like someone was with us?" Nelo asked in a confused voice.
"Yes, but like I said, I'm the alpha of the Shadow Walkers, and you're also from Shadow Outlaws, so no being can harm us. Now, let's go and meet the being and find out what's going on." I said as I realized what's going on.
We entered the cave again, but found no presence this time.
"Okay, let's head back. At least we know there is some being here. Now we just need to find out what and who, and also put security on Julia's home. Follow her, if she is called again. Maybe we'll catch the being then." I said as we walked back.
"Don't worry alpha." Nelo said in a soft voice. "We know Julia is a sister to you as well. The concern is mutual.
