Chapter 127 A Shadow Lurks Around

Chapter 127 A Shadow Lurks Around
Dustin's POV
I was sleeping peacefully when I heard some rattling sound. I looked around but saw no one. Then I felt like I saw a shadow from beneath the door, then at the window, I could see a shadow standing.
I pulled the curtains, but nothing. I opened the window, but could see no one. As I turned around, again there was a shadow beneath the door. I went over to open the door but nothing.
"Dusitn? What's the matter?" Derek asked, concerned.
"Did you also see a shadow?" I asked, confused.
"Shadow? Dustin, we're the Shadow Walkers, since when did a shadow bother you so much? Anyways, must be the guardians." Derek said, explaining.
"No, the shadow made me feel uneasy. It's not of anyone we know or anyone harmless. Okay, go back, Isabella and Deryl are alone." I was still confused about what I saw.
The next morning was our weekend breakfast. The Alpha leaders and Luna's would eat the day meals together, and discuss any matter.
As always we all sat together and the omega's began to serve.
"Dustin, what's the matter? You seem distant." Julia asked in a concerned voice.
"No--"
"Dusitn, we grew up together. I can tell." Julia said in a frank voice.
"Julia, I've been asking him since morning. All he says is, "It's nothing. Derek is also clueless." Jenna said in a frank voice.
"Gabriel, you too, what's the matter with you both?" Julia asked, concerned.
"What? Him, I understand, you grew up together, but how do you know about me?" Gabriel asked, confused.
"You and Dustin aren't blood brothers for no reason. Wade?" Julia asked in a concerned voice.
"I'm the same as Jenna, clueless." Wade said in a frank voice.
"Actually, I saw a shadow, first at the door, then at the window, and I don't know how to put it--"
Gabriel cut my words, continuing my sentence, "The shadow was definitely not a friendly one. It gave me chills."
"Wait a minute, does this shadow have something to do with you both?" Claude asked in a confused voice.
"What?" Both Gabriel and I said in a confused voice.
"I mean, you both are from Shadow clans." Claude said, explaining.
"Why didn't I think of that? (Rudi was one of the omega's serving) Rudi, can you go and ask the Shadow Walkers, and Outlaws, if anyone saw a shadow?" I asked anxiously.
"I'm right on it." As Rudi leaves, Claude says, "Okay, till she comes back, let's eat."
As we were eating, Rudi came back and said, "Alpha, yes, a few from both clans said they felt something, and some said they saw something, but they aren't sure."
"Can I suggest something?" Blake said as he was holding his spoon.
"Blake, I'm saying this for the last time. You're the leader of Demonbite, so that means you're an alpha. And, now you're part of Ashstone Forest. You don't need to suggest, just tell." I said in a frank voice. "And that goes for all leaders."
"Well, then I was saying, why not set up beds in the hall, and all Shadow members come under one roof. Then we all can protect you all, and perhaps find out who or what this shadow is." Blake said what was on his mind.
"I agree with Blake. Rudi, were only males who saw, or females as well?" Gabriel asked in a concerned voice.
"Females too." Rudi said replying.
"Then, I definitely agree with Blake. We males can fend, but the females--"
I cut Gabriel's words, and said, "Okay, then let's set up the beds after breakfast."
After breakfast, we went over to the community hall and with the help of the omega's, we set up beds for every Shadow member.
"Okay, we set the beds for Shadow members, but what about you all?" I asked in a confused voice.
"That way, we'll keep guard at night in shifts." Blake said smiling. "Of course, the idea was mine, so me and the Demonbite--"
"Blake, not only Demonbsite, but we all will take turns. And, I don't think we'll be able to capture this thing in one day." Claude said smiling.
"Okay, then let's begin. First of all, let's have dinner." Dane said, smiling.
A big buffet was organized as all packs were eating together. Just then a female Shadow Outlaw screamed.
"There! Run!" A guardian from Wildmane said as he and some other guardians ran towards the direction they saw the shadow.
We followed them behind.
One guardian managed to capture it, but it escaped as soon as another guardian came over to help him.
"That shadow had a mass?" Dane asked, shocked.
"Yes, alpha. I caught it. The body was extremely slender. I dare say it's a female." The guardian said, confused.
"Dusitn, apart from you and Gabriel, are there any other Shadow packs?" Denis asked in a curious voice.
"Wolf, no Vampire--"
Gabriel cut in between saying, "No, we're the only Shadow clan. Rest, if some vampire found some way to use their shadow, I mean if you can get the Elixir of invincibility, then becoming a shadow won't be hard."
"And, where can you get it, and who knows about it?" Denis asked in a concerned voice.
"From the cathedral over at Court Cathedral. And, it appears only once a month. No fixed date, so you have to go there every night, lest the coyotes leave you alive." Gabriel said in a frank voice.
"Looks like this being not only managed to save itself from the coyotes, but got the elixir as well." Denis said, sighing.
"Gabriel, this elixir, can anyone get it?" Dane asked in a curious voice.
"No, the cathedral only allows vampires to enter. So, it's not possible for other beings." Gabriel said in a frank voice.
"And no other being knows about this. The Cathedral is sacred and known to only vampires." Nelo said in a frank voice.
"Then what do you all, we should do?" Claude asked, confused.
"Simple, first a group will go and find out if it's true, about the elixir. Then we'll know what to do next." Gabriel said in a frank voice.
