Chapter 36
Aldeia Restaurant.
Lilian decided to have dinner with her family for the first time in the countryside at this restaurant because she was too lazy to go out, even though it doesn't snow in the countryside of São Paulo, the cold was freezing everyone.
The restaurant was in the hotel, and after making a reservation an hour in advance, they walked there, and surprisingly, the restaurant was so crowded that there were almost no seats available. In fact, there were only a few tables available, and she was grateful that she had made a reservation in advance.
They enjoyed a light dinner while chatting, and Lilian told Theo and Anna about visiting her grandfather's house tomorrow, and Anna and Theo were surprised to hear this, especially Theo.
“Mom, is that true?” Theo called her in a voice that sounded like a child's, but his expression looked like that of a surprised adult.
“Yes, dear...” Lilian replied cheerfully, and when she saw that he had finished eating, she continued. “Do you need more food? Do you want Mom to order another steak?” Théo shook his head slightly.
“I'm not going to eat anymore, Mom. Actually, I'm just curious about something.” Lilian was stunned, because normally her son asks for more food because he likes to eat.
“What is it, dear?” Lilian asked as she put down her cutlery and paid more attention to him.
“Mom, you said before that great-grandpa was in a coma and hospitalized, right? But why did he come home?”
Lilian was amused by the way the little boy spoke.
“Your great-grandfather was immediately healthy when I visited him, so tomorrow we don't need to go to the hospital to visit him, but we'll go to his house...”
“Wow, really? That's great to hear, Mom. I can't wait to meet my great-grandfather...” Theo was so excited that he couldn't help but smile.
Lilian gently ruffled Théo's hair and let him enjoy his chocolate cake, then asked Anna to pack up their things, as they were going to move to her grandfather's house before returning to the capital.
“Yes, ma'am!” Anna nodded to Lilian, who was happy to finally be able to return to the old house where she had lived before following Lilian to the city.
“Oh, I forgot to ask, son.” Lilian turned her gaze back to Théo. “How was your day with Uncle Daniel? Did you play with him today?”
Although Lilian had heard what they were doing for Daniel, she wanted to hear it directly from her son's mouth.
“Uncle Daniel took me for a drive around town, and we also stopped at a restaurant. After that, Uncle Daniel also bought me some Lego as a welcome gift, and then...” Theo paused, trying to remember. “Mom, I forgot what happened after that... What I remember is that I woke up in my room, I think I fell asleep in the car.”
“So you didn't say goodbye to him?” Lilian asked, and Theo shook his head in disappointment.
“Mom, please call Uncle, I want to talk to him. Please, Mom...” He asked as he blinked his beautiful blue eyes, making Lilian smile.
“I'm sorry, Théo, I can't call him right now because your uncle is working!” Lilian replied.
She wanted to call him too, but in the last message she received, he said he was boarding, and also mentioned that he probably wouldn't be able to use his cell phone for an indefinite period of time, and seeing the disappointment radiating from Theo's eyes, Lilian could only smile weakly.
"Okay, let's go back to the room. We need to pack our things. "Lilian deliberately changed the subject to distract her son's attention and stop him from asking about Daniel.
After a few minutes, Lilian left the restaurant, and a man in a black hat looked around worriedly before getting into a black van parked behind the hotel and handing a black bag containing used cutlery and glasses from one of the restaurant's customers to a man standing next to him.
“Here's your payment!” The man handed a thick brown envelope to the man in the black hat.
“Sir, I won't get in trouble, right?” asked the man in the black hat after putting the envelope in his coat pocket.
“Man, everything will be fine, don't worry!”
The man in the black hat sighed with relief. It was actually an easy job for him, but if his bosses found out what he was doing, they would fire him immediately. However, he couldn't refuse someone who offered him two thousand reais just to pick this up, as he needed the money to pay his mother's hospital bills.
“Well, I'm leaving now!” The man in the black hat bowed his head slightly before getting out of the van.
After the man in the black hat got out of the car, Ethan's assistant Julian took the bag and looked at Harry, who was sitting next to the driver.
“You covered our tracks, right?” Julian didn't want anyone to realize they were there, especially Ethan's men.
“Don't worry about a thing!” Harry said calmly, then looked at the driver. “You can go now.”
At the same time, when Lilian and the others arrived at the suite, her cell phone rang, and it was Antony who called, asking Theo to play with Anna before entering the room to answer the call.
“Hi, Antony...” Lilian greeted him cheerfully, only to hear his cold response.
“I thought you had forgotten about me again, Lilian,” he said.
“I'm sorry, boss, I've been a little busy these days and I forgot to call you,” Lilian laughed lightly, ignoring his irritation.
“I'm glad to hear you landed safely!” Antony's voice became warm, and it made Lilian smile as she walked toward the large glass window, watching the busy street below while talking to him.
“Thank you, Antony.”
“It's no big deal...”
“You called just to ask me that?”
“Of course not, actually, your assistant has arrived in the capital, and she'll take care of your business at the office before you start work...” Antony explained.
“You sent someone from headquarters?” Lilian asked in surprise.
“Yes, and she's perfect for your needs!” Antony said in his not-so-affectionate tone.
“Who? Do I know her?” Lilian was curious because her requirements for a personal assistant were quite complicated.
Lilian just wanted to cause trouble for Antony because he forced her to come back when she wanted to enjoy life without working. She plans to receive the dividends from the joint venture, but her plan fails because of him.
