Chapter 35
“I'm sorry, Daniel, but I can't!” Lilian said firmly. "I would like your parents to accept me and my son sincerely, without any conditions.
She didn't want to repeat the mistakes of the past by marrying someone from a toxic family like the Legrand family, and Daniel sighed softly when he heard her answer.
“Have you given up?” She stared at him for a moment, teasing him as she heard him sigh deeply.
Daniel sat up straight again and leaned forward slightly to see her face clearly.
“Lilian, giving up is not an option for me, and no matter how difficult the road may be, I will pursue my goals.” He said firmly.
“I like your enthusiasm, Daniel, so you have my support!”
“I hope so!” Daniel patted her gently on the top of her head as he smiled, but his smile faded when he remembered that he wouldn't be able to see his parents anytime soon. “Lili, I'm afraid you'll have to wait a little longer.”
“What do you mean by that?” Lilian asked, confused.
“I have to fly to the Middle East tonight, and it's a mission I can't discuss with you.” Daniel said apologetically, before smiling. “I don't know how long I'll be there...” His voice trailed off as he realized he was saying too much about his secret mission. “But I promise I'll try to get in touch with you if I get the chance.”
Daniel said this to prevent Lilian from getting upset or worried, even though he knew he wouldn't have the chance to do so because, during a secret mission, he couldn't contact anyone, not even his family, because if the enemies found out, they would attack them.
Lilian tried to contain her shock, knowing they would be apart for a while.
“Daniel, I understand your situation, so don't worry about me, and I'll wait patiently for you here.” Lilian smiled to make him feel better. “So, can you tell me how long you'll be on the mission?”
“Yes, I can, although I'm not quite sure at this point, I'd say about six months. But the possibility of it taking longer is also still open...” Daniel let out another long sigh.
Daniel had never felt this way before, as he was always excited about his mission. But now? He felt terrible for the first time.
It's awful when a woman promises to give you a chance to have her heart, but you can't do it right away because you have to go on a mission. What a shame!
Meanwhile, Lilian's heart sank when she learned they would be apart for so long, thinking he would only be gone for a few weeks.
“It's okay, I believe you know how to take care of yourself, but still, always be careful, Daniel.” She tried her best to hide her shock as she said it casually.
“Thank you, Lilian, and I'll definitely come back for you and Théo!” His eyes sparkled even more when he thought of someone waiting for him.
Daniel was very excited and happy, and he held Lilian's warm cheeks delicately with both hands as he looked into her eyes affectionately. Then, slowly, he leaned in and pressed his lips gently against Lilian's warm lips, leaving her stunned, but she didn't resist the kiss.
Lilian felt the warmth of his tongue dancing in her mouth, and instead of resisting, she returned the kiss with equal passion, while hugging him around the neck.
She felt her blood boil with this passion.
The air in Lilian's chest was almost gone, and she wanted to breathe, even if she had to pull away a little. However, in Daniel's tight embrace, she couldn't move.
Several times, soft moans were heard coming from Lilian's lips when Daniel's hand gently touched the back of her neck and deepened his tongue into hers.
The gradual lack of oxygen weakened Lilian's limbs, and in the end, she tried again to push his chest away.
“Daniel...” When Lilian felt she was going to die from lack of oxygen, Daniel finally gave in and continued kissing her.
The tip of his warm tongue gently brushed her pink lips as he smiled lovingly, looking into her eyes.
Seeing her mouth open slightly as she inhaled deeply seemed to awaken his desire to devour her again, but he restrained himself.
Daniel could only smile at her as he brushed her lips gently, their eyes still locked.
Getting fresh air again, Lilian gasped like a drowning person and quickly hid her face in his firm chest when she saw his eyes burn with passion.
Lilian was afraid she wouldn't be able to control herself if this man wanted to do more than kiss, something she wanted so badly, but her rational mind was holding her back.
Daniel hugged her and smiled broadly, satisfied with the passionate kiss. He would cherish that kiss forever. Now he had to hurry back to the capital to find his parents and convince them to accept Lilian and her son as part of the family.
For a few moments, Lilian enjoyed the embrace in silence, but soon after, she heard Daniel tell her what he would do before leaving on his mission and what he would do when he returned from his mission and found his parents.
Lilian said nothing, but deep down she prayed that Daniel's parents would be much better and kinder than Ethan's and accept her unconditionally.
“Daniel, you said before that you knew Ethan! Is that true?”
“Yes, I know him by sight, but I'm not close to him. Actually, he's closer to my father. Why?”
Although Lilian wanted to ignore it, she couldn't, because she needed to talk to Daniel if she wanted this relationship to work.
“And how are you going to deal with Ethan? I mean, when he finds out that Theo is his son, he's definitely going to give me trouble!”
The look of happiness on Daniel's face disappeared, because he had planned to meet Ethan today before flying to the Middle East, but that plan couldn't be carried out today because he was already late and needed to return to his base immediately.
In fact, he imagined himself talking to Ethan about his plans to marry his ex-wife, and thinking about it made him uncomfortable, but he would do anything for the woman he loved, including ignoring his pride.
“Lili, trust me, I'll take care of Ethan, and you don't have to worry about him.” Daniel smiled warmly, but his dark look seemed to betray him, and Lilian noticed, but pretended not to notice.
“I trust you!” she said as she snuggled into his warm embrace once more.
They hugged until Daniel had to say goodbye and return to his base.
After Daniel left, Lilian rushed to the presidential suite. Suddenly, she felt sleepy and exhausted after everything that had happened that day.
The family's rude reception and Daniel's sudden confession left her emotionally drained, and she needed to recharge her batteries before facing her son, or her brilliant son would read everything in her expression.
