Chapter 18 — Andrew's POV
My father once told me: there is no winning against a woman you love. A man could never count how many times he has said the word 'I am sorry' to a woman. Whether you are wrong or right, just say sorry and all is well. Because a man that really loves his woman will value the relationship more than being right. To date a woman, a man must be ready to accept the baggage that comes along with it. For a relationship to survive, you have to be the man and take responsibility.
I didn't want her dressed in a short body gown that barely covered her ass. But if I persisted, it'd only make her cry and throw tantrums. Christiana gets emotional easily and loves being pampered so I made sure to give her just the right attitude.
She believed I wouldn't get jealous. Big lie. Another thing I learned from my father was: everyone gets jealous, but how you handle it matters a lot. Though I want to get possessive, I try to avoid unnecessary arguments about trust issues. But it always put a smile on my face whenever she got jealous, I love seeing her possessive side.
I refused to dance with her because I was pissed off by the fact she hung out with another guy while I was going through stress in Barcelona. Yet she put all blame on me.
When she asked me to dance with her, I wanted to, but I wanted her to seduce me more. But before I knew it, she asked a guy who I didn't know of to dance with her.
She didn't even try to persuade me more before asking that jerk to dance with her, and he held her in a sensual way, making me mad. I felt like going to her that moment and pulling her back with me, but I refrained myself from doing so by occupying my mind with other thoughts.
I stole glances secretly every time she wasn't watching. I was indeed pissed off. Who the hell was he and how could she let another hold her the same way I hold her?
"You could have just danced with her instead of sticking to your seat." Adrian chuckled, earning a smirk from me.
I knew I could have but I did not, and now a man has his hands around my woman; a woman whose body was special and mustn't be touched by anyone who isn't me.
"I really like her you know," he added but I was busy staring at the both of them dancing.
"She is really trying to get to you." Andrew said and I felt the urge to scoff. I noticed her looking at me every now and then but before her eyes would meet mine, I'd quickly look away. I didn't want her to think she was winning at all.
"Well, it's working!" I spat out. I was aggravated. I hated her with other men who looked at her the same way I do, but at the same time, I have to be the bigger person and avoid fights that would lead to more issues.
I chuckled lightly. "You know, if she had seen me with another girl, she would have created an entire scene on the spot." Knowing Christiana well, she wasn't one to bottle up her feelings. She would tell you just as how it was to her but not without making a scene. She would yell and cry and before you know, she would begin to think negative.
"All ladies are like that--or should I say, most ladies. They want all the attention from their man. You wouldn't wanna mess with Hannah," he sighed. "I can't count the numbers of times we broke up this year." He chuckled.
"Really?" I asked him.
"I could say the same, but the problem is, Christiana always assumes I want to break up with her whenever we are in an argument."
"Should I tell you the funniest part? Whenever she sees me with another woman, she breaks up with me, calling me a cheater and a liar. Then she shows up the next day, enraged at me for not calling her. She whined calling me a fool ... trust me, those are her favorite words"
Women!
"When she shows up, she goes around my house, checking the rooms and bathroom searching for a woman that does not exist. Then she starts crying, saying I treat her badly. That I am never satisfied," he chuckled.
"Ladies are a headache and babies all at once." I muttered more to myself. The ladies you consider tough suddenly do otherwise once you are boyfriend. She shows a different side of her you have never seen and the reason most guys believe all tough ladies just put on that act, they are not really tough once you get to know them.
"I know right. Christiana is worse I tell you. We don't break up, but she locks us in a room telling me she won't give me a chance to leave and meet another woman."
We both laughed at the issues we had with our girlfriends. I missed my best man, Adrian. We tell each other everything.
When she came back to the VIP lounge, I immediately took her away. If that jerk looked at her ass one more time, I would have punched him in his face.
I restrained myself from answering any of her questions because I was aggravated.
All through the drive she brought up small talk, but I wasn't after that. I had work and some files I had to tend to. When we got to the room, she brought up the topic I wasn't interested in.
"Were you jealous?" she asked me, smirking as if it wasn't that obvious that I was.
I scoffed. "I don't get jealous over irrelevant stuff," I tell her, trying to shrug the topic off, but I could see a hurt expression on her face She scoffed. "Irrelevant?! So I'm just irrelevant, right? Always getting jealous over irrelevant things? Ugh!"
"I didn't say anything like that and—" She cut me off.
"Of course you didn't, Andrew the Great,” she said and walked away.
I rubbed my forehead and sighed. Anything I say right now would be used against me. That's Christiana for you. When she came back, I tried to settle the matter.
"I never called you--" She cut me off again.
"Save your breath! I'm just the crazy girlfriend that tells her boyfriend to stay five feet away from his ex-girlfriend right!"
Didn't she just tell me to save my breath?
"Can—"
"Just save it. He looks better than you, anyway."
I shake my head and clench my fists. I am short-tempered and she knew that. Though I tend to avoid violence, if I had stayed in that club, I would have hit that jerk.
"Since he looks better than me, why don't you date him." I spat out and walked away.
Vanessa point of view.
I want Andrew.
I've always wanted him. He was mine to begin with, all the way from kindergarten to high school, it was the both of us.
He adored and worshiped me. It was the two of us, having to do everything together. He was my first kiss and the man I lost my virginity to. Maybe I changed a bit back in high school and wanted it all, but Andrew was mine, he wasn't allowed to be with another woman.
The fear of losing him made me never date him. I made our relationship simply base on sex because we had a lot of time ahead of us. I didn't label us but everyone around us knew it was the both of us and I knew I broke him the day I left without telling him.
I returned back to the States after five years only to see him with another woman and not just any woman but a woman with a status far lower than mine. The fact he looked at that girl the way he never looked at me aggravated me.
Those looks showed true love and adoration and that annoyed me. The girl wasn't worth it, and I promised to fight and get him for myself at all means. Andrew's mother has always been in support of Andrew and I and she assured me the night of Andrew's welcome party not to worry that he was mine alone.
I hated how he protected that girl, how he held her in his arms and how he adored her. I hated how he looked at her and how he defended her. I hated how he paid no attention to me or gave me a minute without bringing up her name in our conversation.
I feigned a smile acting as if I cared about his relationship but deep inside of me all I wanted to do was kill that girl. Get rid of her and have Andrew adore me just like he used to.
