Chapter 60 Chaos Before Divorce

His hair was a bit disheveled, probably really drunk. At this moment, his face showed a hint of impatience with unclear and hazy eyes.

"Are you okay?"

Harper shifted her gaze away, not daring to stare at him.

"How did you come here?"

Joseph frowned as if he didn't expect her to come. He seemed different from usual, looking a bit dazed. Harper couldn't help but smirk. "Just let me in first."

He stepped aside. After walking in, Harper closed the door behind her and took her bag off her shoulder.

"Eric said your hand was injured, so I brought some medicine. You should disinfect it first."

Joseph's gaze stayed on her, staring at her motionlessly as if trying to distinguish whether this was a dream or reality.

Feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, Harper pulled him to sit on the sofa.

Noticing glass shards in the man's palm, Harper couldn't help but gasp. "How did it get like this? Don't you feel pain?"

"I don't know."

His voice was soft, showing no concern for his wound, his narrow eyes fixed on her in front of him.

Harper frowned at him, then earnestly started to tend to his wound.

"Be careful. Don't touch water again. When you go to the hospital tomorrow, clean it up again."

As she put away the disinfecting tools and was about to get up, her wrist was grabbed by him in front of her.

"What are you doing?"

Although Joseph was drunk, he looked sincere at this moment. Harper felt captivated.

"Harper."

His deep voice sounded, making Harper's heart race. He seemed quite drunk, calling her by her name like that.

"I didn't mean to hurt you. Can you forgive me?" Joseph spoke, his breath getting closer to her.

Realizing he was referring to tonight's incident, Harper hesitated for a moment. As she saw him approaching, her face blushed. She gradually lowered her voice. "I'm fine. I'm not mad at you."

"Really?"

"Yes."

Joseph smiled, his gaze unfocused. The next moment, he lifted the girl and sat her on his lap.

Harper's heart tightened!

With his chin against her neck, Harper was stunned, not daring to move.

Joseph closed his eyes and exhaled. His voice was husky. "Let me hold you for a while."

"When I first saw you that year, you were so small. Why haven't you grown up now?"

"I'm not that young anymore. I'm 24."

At this moment, Harper blushed to the base of her neck. The man's breath, mixing with the scent of alcohol, tickled her skin.

Joseph chuckled lightly, agreeing with her statement. "Yes. You're not young anymore. You're married."

She was his wife.

Harper pursed her lips, feeling a strange ambiguity in their conversation.

"Harper." Joseph's muffled voice came from her hair.

"Don't be with other men, okay?"

His gentle and patient inquiry made Harper feel captivated.

"There's no other man."

Though unsure of whom he was referring to, Harper's heart raced.

After a while, she whispered, "You have always been my only one."

Like a bombshell, this sentence exploded in Joseph's already drunken mind.

He raised his head. His eyes now was a deep crimson, filled with a different kind of affection. Harper, looking at him, couldn't help but be drawn in.

When he kissed her, she didn't flinch but trembled, closing her eyes.

Joseph's kiss was gentle, making it hard to push him away.

The warm scent of alcohol mixed with his unique masculine fragrance. His lips lightly grazed hers, one after another, his kisses landing on her heart.

"Who am I?"

"Joseph."

"Do you love me?"

"I love you."

Joseph paused, his slender fingers caressing Harper's head gently.

Harper looked at him, feeling a bit intoxicated herself.

She faintly felt that the man in front of her, with eyes full of deep affection, had loved her for a long time.

Driven by her emotions, she reached out, hooked her hand around his neck, and leaned in to kiss him.

Joseph's eyes darkened, and his hand on her head moved down to her nape, gently pressing her towards him.

Breathing heavily, the air in the room grew thin.

Finally, he stood up holding her, causing Harper to instinctively hold onto his waist tightly.

Before she could even cry out in surprise, his lips covered hers, gradually engulfing her.

"Joseph..."

Entwined in the soft bed, Harper looked at the man above her, unable to resist reaching out to touch him.

"Harper. Don't be afraid."

In the following moments, she trembled all over, her fingernails leaving marks on the man's back.

After their intimate moments, Joseph held the woman in his arms, feeling extremely tired.

"Harper. Be good and sleep."

He kissed her forehead gently, then closed his eyes, leaning to the side, completely unconscious.

Harper watched the sleeping man, smiling silently, unable to hide her sweet feelings.

Would they still need to go through with the divorce tomorrow?

They were now truly husband and wife. Joseph must have feelings for her, right?

Lying in the crook of the man's arm, Harper couldn't help but reach out to trace his exquisite features.

At that moment, a notification sound from Joseph's phone on the nearby sofa caught her attention. Harper glanced at it.

"It's so late. Is there something going on at the hospital?"

She looked at Joseph, but there was no response.

He slept peacefully. His face still showed signs of intoxication, furrowing his brows uneasily.

Just as Harper was about to get up, a sense of discomfort swept over her.

It was her first time, and the experience was really hurt ...

Finally, she reluctantly walked to the sofa, picked up Joseph's phone, and lit up the screen, but the next moment, her body froze!

Olivia: [Joseph, I'm heading to the hotel now. Do you want me to bring you some food?]

Harper looked at the message on the screen, feeling shocked, unable to recover for a while.

Did Joseph call Olivia to the hotel?
