"What else?" Harper looked at him strangely. "Well. After today, let's quickly get the procedures done. I don't want to delay any longer. By then, you can openly be with your Dr. Smith."
After Harper finished speaking, she turned and walked towards the stairs. Her decisive movements seemed to indicate that she didn't want to stay by Joseph's side for another moment.
Joseph's fingers hung by his side moved unconsciously. But in the end, they fell back to their original position, not grasping anything.
He just stood there, and his eyes was gloomy.
Neither of them noticed that two figures were hiding behind the fire door in the stairwell, both visibly livid.
Mia looked at Henry with concern and asked in an extremely low voice, "What should we do?"
They never expected that Harper and Joseph were silently planning the divorce behind their backs.
"No way." Henry gritted his teeth. "Joseph wanted to divorce Harper. It is impossible!"
But the wedding reception was about to begin.
The couple, who were hiding in the stairwell, even though had just overheard a big secret, could only sort out their complicated emotions and prepare to go out to meet the most important moment of their lives.
When Brian arrived, the wedding banquet was just as starting.
Although he hadn't been back in the country for long, he was quite famous.
As Brian walked in, he was welcomed by many people. He didn't stop walking, just nodding in response to each greeting. Naturally, he had to first greet the main characters of the day.
Ethan followed behind him with a gift, occasionally whispering introductions to the people around him.
Henry saw the newcomer from a distance. His calm and indifferent demeanor was impossible to ignore. Yet he exuded a polite and gentle aura.
Henry walked over slowly with Mia.
"Henry." Brian politely extended his hand to shake Henry's, a slight smile on his face.
"Congratulations to you."
Henry nodded. "Thank you. I'm so glad you could make it!"
He then reached out and patted Brian on the shoulder. "You're young and already so accomplished, more impressive than many older individuals."
"Henry, you are flattering."
Brian took the gift box from Ethan and handed it to Mia. "I hope you like this gift."
"Mr. Lewis, you're so kind." Mia smiled as she took the gift and stood aside, not interrupting their conversation.
At that moment, Henry noticed Joseph coming down the stairs. Although he was still upset about Joseph wanting to divorce Harper, he clearly wouldn't show it in front of others.
He smiled and said to Brian, "Mr. Lewis, my son is about the same age as you. It's a good opportunity to introduce you two. You young people can connect and communicate more in the future."
Brian nodded. "It's my pleasure."
Henry nodded happily and called out nearby, "Joseph, come here. Let me introduce you to the young talent, Brian Lewis."
Joseph came over and stood beside his father. When he saw Brian, a hint of surprise flickered in his eyes.
"What a coincidence."
Brian also extended his hand to shake Joseph's. "I didn't expect to meet you here."
The two stood together, both exuding an impressive aura. They attracted the attention of those around them, who whispered among themselves.
Henry looked at them in front of him and asked, "Do you two know each other?"
Brian replied, "We've met briefly before. But I wouldn't say we know each other."
Joseph nodded. "Yes. I didn't realize that he was the famous Mr. Lewis."
When they met at the bakery, even though they only exchanged a few words, Joseph could tell that Brian wasn't a ordinary person.
Brian looked at Joseph, sensing a feeling of encountering a worthy opponent.
"It's quite a coincidence."
After some casual conversation, the three of them discussed the future collaboration between their two companies.
"This project is our company's main focus this year. You may have to exert some effort."
"Henry, you're being modest. The Lucas Group is an essential partner. I'm just doing my job."
"Exactly. It's a win-win situation."
Henry laughed heartily, then sighed. "I'm getting older now, not as strong as before. Joseph, it would be great if you could come back and help me sooner."
Joseph remained expressionless and didn't say anything.
However, the people around them, having listened to their conversation for a while, understood the news of the collaboration between The Lucas Group and Brian.
"Although Mr. Lewis has recently returned from abroad, his abilities and background are remarkable."
"That's right. With this strong collaboration, it seems that the commercial empire of Seaspring Valley City will be in their hands!"
Harper came down from upstairs. While she was looking for Mia, she heard this exclamation.
After having parted ways with Joseph on bad terms, she didn't want to come down with him and attract everyone's attention. So, she went to the restroom to wash her hands first.
But when she came back down, the focus of the crowd had shifted.
Following everyone's gaze, she saw a tall man standing in the center of the crowd, dressing in a suit and exuding an air of elegance. Even from behind, he seemed to have a striking face.
He was talking to Joseph and Henry, occasionally turning his head to smile.
The golden spotlights cast a warm glow on him.
The more Harper looked, the more familiar he seemed.
A mix of surprise and disbelief crossed her face as she rubbed her eyes in confusion.
Was she mistaken? How could he look so much like her long-lost brother, Brian Taylor?
