Chapter 32
Ryan’s POV
“Are you sure this is going to work?” Grant asked nervously.
I would have thought this was cute, but since it was his millionth time asking this exact question, I found it rather annoying. Couldn’t he just shut the hell up already?
“My plan is going to work, okay?” I said, willing him with everything I had to be quiet. “You asked me to help. Have a little faith.”
“But what if it doesn’t?”
This wasn’t the first time he asked that question either.
“Like I said, you asked me to help. Trust me.” Jeez. If he weren’t so cute, I so would have kicked his ass by now.
We were at Rose’s house together, waiting for her to get back so that I could leave the two would-be lovebirds alone. How did we get into her house, you ask? Well, she gave me a key a few years back- not that I ever saw the need in using it until now.
I surprised myself with my own cunning sometimes.
Trent was at a party, and I’d told Rose’s parents to stay the hell away from their house tonight if they wanted to see their daughter happy again. Sure, it was dramatic. But they were following orders so far.
My phone beeped, flashing that I had a new text from the lady of the hour.
Rose: I swear to god, Ry. I’ll kill you when I get back. On my way now.
It was funny how my best friend thought that she even had a chance at being threatening. I mean, I’d bet my bottom dollar that she couldn’t even hurt a fly.
“She’s coming,” I told Grant in my ‘business’ voice.
He took a deep breath, then promptly looked as if he was about to shit himself.
