Ch 166 Sasa's Place

Sasa spent the spring and summer months with her children. She needed to help prepare Ragnar for the collage he was going to pick. Leo needed to be enrolled in school. Come to find out he had never gotten a formal education, so Sasa had to sign him up for special classes to get him caught up. His age was fibbed as well to give him time to catch up. Astrid was still heavily involved with her ballet and even started joining sports. Swim, Soccer and Archery with Ragnar kept her out of the house almost as long as normal school days did. However once school started again in the fall and the days grew shorter, Sasa announced she was going to Norway. Dagrim or Sköll wanted to accompany her, but she refused. She would check in every morning, midnight, and evening, but she wanted to go alone. She knew her moods would be wild and ever changing and she didn't want to hurt anyone. Also, she needed them to watch Leo. He was half vampire and she wasn't sure if he would feel hunger as he got older like she had. Sasa knew she had to take care of Leo as well, but Fenris was her first priority. She needed to see him. It had been way close to two years since last she saw him.

Leo told her all he knew. He taught in a collage in Norway, he was pretty sure it was in in or around Oslo, but he wasn't certain. Dr. White had talked about doing contrary to what Sasa had asked and send him somewhere faraway from either of his homes. Sasa soaked up all his information, as little as it was. Once she had it all she packed light, three regular outfits, one formal and a set of pajamas. Just for optimism's sake she also packed a set of Fenris's nice clothes she liked to wear, and one of his favorite outfits, his best heavy furs included. Leo had also saved the green coat Sasa had gotten for her Halloween costume that awful night. Sasa had taken it to the tailor and had it repaired so it was good as new. It was the last thing Fenris had gotten her and she wore it nearly every night, no matter how she was teased for it. She had hidden Fenris's wedding band in it as well. Now she wore it on a chain around her neck that she kept tucked under her clothes. Packed and ready, Sasa kissed all her children good bye, and told them to call her if they needed anything. She'd call them often and check on them.

Starting in Oslo, Sasa checked the staff listing of every collage there. Luckily, she saw Fenris's name and signed up for the latest class he taught. During the fall and winter, she had no problem staying awake as she listening to him lecture and pick on students that didn't pay attention. She always felt happy to see and hear him, but she tried her hardest to be invisible so it maddened her she never got to speak with him. By spring she realized the time she got to see him would shorten as the sun lasted longer as midnight sun approached. Thinking out of the box Sasa went to the person in control of the school and requested a position in the staff. Using her allure stung, but she needed it to get a job she had no qualifications for.

Sasa was happy when she found out the class room next to Fenris's was open and now hers. Their offices were even next to one another. She taught Art and how it shaped history, or how history shaped it. It was something she could share and that she knew a lot about. It was also a class that if she was too distracted, or preoccupied with the moon, she could just assign art projects. She still sat in on Fenris's classes when she could, but having her own class kept her busy. One night after class with Fenris, Sasa stopped into the teachers’ lounge to grab some coffee and fruit and she saw Fenris in there flirting with some of the other teachers. Turning red from being embarrassed by catching him flirting with other women. Sasa shoved a muffin in her mouth to keep it from doing something stupid as she made her coffee. Before she knew it Fenris was standing right next to her. She had been trying so hard not to focus on him he had snuck up on her. He was looking at her with a look that said he was expecting something. All Sasa could do was look up at him blank and confused. She couldn't think of what he wanted.

"I asked, aren't you a student of mine? What are you doing in the teachers’ lounge?" Fenris repeated.

Sasa pulled the muffin from her mouth and chewed quickly. Giving a small curtsy Sasa responded, "Yes, sir, I am, however I am also professor Onisagira. I teach an art class next to yours that involves how history has or has been shaped by art. I apologize if we get a little zealous sometimes. I'm not a traditional teacher, and most my students aren't orthodox learners," Sasa said as she tried really hard to hide her American accent from her words as she answered him in her best Norwegian. She was so grateful Fenris and Marith had taught her so much of their home in Norway, even if most of it was outdated.

The teachers he had just been flirting to whispered crossly against her for her curtsy. They felt she was just showing off, and that she was too young to even be talking with him, or too scrawny, or too short. Sasa just smiled inside at their remarks. She knew she was Fru Dragonheart, and if she couldn't show off to her husband, no one could.

"You're the quiet one in the back of the class who never volunteers with answers, aren't you?" Fenris asked as Sasa straightened back up.

Nodding Sasa admitted, "Yes, sir,"

"Do you know the only reason I keep such a shy little mouse in my class?"

"No, sir," Sasa answered full of worry.

"Normally I kick the students out who don’t participate; however, you know all the answers. You can write flawlessly in the elder futhark and your enunciation doesn't seem too bad either. Onisagira, you never sign with a last name, do you have one?"

Sasa shook her head. "Not one most are familiar with. I am Onisagira, daughter of Dagrim. I come from a very traditional family that never took a family name,"

"I wondered, are some of those notes on your papers hieroglyphics and cuneiform?" Fenris asked, Sasa nodded. "Alright, then I will just have to call you Onisagira,"

"If you liked, you may call me Sasa, Professor Dragonheart," Sasa offered timidly, "That is the name my friends and family use. My cousin teased Onisagira sounds too formal. Only my father uses it now when I am in trouble or he wants to comfort me,"

"How can a name he uses when you're in trouble comfort you?" Fenris asked.

"Oni means wanted and Sagira means little one. Together it makes me my father's wanted little one," Sasa said with a small smile.

Fenris smiled at Sasa with that charming flirtatious smile of his as he stroked her nose, "Then I shall still call you Onisagira Dagrimsdöttr. I'll see you in class tomorrow and you better start answering in class or I'll have you moved elsewhere. Good night to you, Onisagira,"

Sasa dipped her head again as she repeated softly, "Good night, Professor Dragonheart,"

As he left the room a wave a sadness slapped her in the face. She watched him leave and stared at the door longingly. There was no recognition when he looked at her, but she found it silly that he was still going to charm and flirt with her. Such a womanizer.

"Know your place," one of the teachers he had been chatting to said as she walked over and bumped Sasa away from the coffee maker.

"Yes," Sasa said with a smile as she just took her muffin. "Learn yours as well,"

Sasa giggled to herself as she felt the anger roll of all three women as she left the room. She may never be welcome in the lounge again, but it was worth it to talk to Fenris. Her class went great that night as she felt gay and higher than a kite.

What she hadn't expected was the next evening in Fenris's class he called her out and moved her to the front of the class. Turning her full shade of red Sasa picked up her things and quickly moved as she was told. Once she sat back down, she thought the embarrassment was over, but it wasn't. Fenris called on her for almost every other question and made her answer as many in old Norse as possible. Sasa had never tried so hard to speak correctly. It was slower than she normally talked, but she was not going to let her mate be disappointed in her. Most of her past whining was just for attention and a need to be difficult. Secretly the words she really had trouble with she practiced with Marith and Kemma behind Fenris's back so one day she could surprise him by being as fluent as any of them. By now she spoke his language as well if not better than English.

The rest of the spring and into the summer Fenris kept calling on her and picking on her. There was only a hand full of other students who had chosen Nordic history as their major that got called on as often as her. Sasa was torn by the attention. On one hand Fenris was noticing her and talking to her. On the other she had to talk in front of nearly two hundred students. Also, as the days grew never ending with summer, Sasa couldn't hide nipping off if she sat in the front of the class. Luckily, Fenris only caught her once so far, but it was only time before he caught her doing it nearly every night.
