Chapter 151 150: Chicken, Crush & Connection

Chapter 151 150: Chicken, Crush & Connection
The night air of the human world felt different. Cooler. Quieter. Almost fragile.

"So this is where you grew up," Damien said immediately as both of them were taking a stroll.

Seraphine smiled slightly. "Yep. No floating islands. No magical beasts. Just people trying to survive and eat good food."

Damien raised an eyebrow. "Good food?"

Seraphine suddenly grabbed his wrist.
"Come on."

Before he could protest, she dragged him down the street and into a small roadside restaurant buzzing with laughter and clinking bottles.

A few people glanced at them, mostly because Damien looked like he had just stepped out of a royal portrait but Seraphine ignored them.

She sat down at a plastic table and pointed at the menu on the wall. "We're starting with the most important thing in the human world."

Damien folded his arms. "And what would that be?"

Seraphine grinned. "Fried chicken."

Minutes later, a plate piled high with crispy golden chicken landed in front of them.

Damien stared at it cautiously. "This is... chicken?"

"Yes."

"And humans fry it... like this?"

"Yes."

"And you're sure it's safe?"

Seraphine rolled her eyes. "Just eat it."

Damien picked up a piece carefully and took a bite.

The crunch echoed.

He froze.

Seraphine leaned forward eagerly. "Well?"

Damien slowly chewed. Then his eyes widened. "This is... incredible."

Seraphine burst out laughing.

"I told you!"

Damien took another bite immediately, this time with far less hesitation.

Within minutes he had eaten three pieces.

Seraphine leaned back in her chair, satisfied. "See? The human world isn't so bad."

Damien wiped his hands. "I admit... this may be the greatest discovery of this realm."

Seraphine waved the waiter over again. "And now the second greatest discovery."

The waiter dropped several bottles of alcohol on the table.

Damien frowned slightly as she opened one and pushed it toward him. "What is that?"

"Beer."

He sniffed it suspiciously. "It smells bitter."

Seraphine shrugged. "That's because it is."

He took a cautious sip. Immediately, he grimaced. "That is terrible."

Seraphine laughed so hard she nearly choked. "You're supposed to drink more than one sip!"

"Why?"

"So you get drunk."

Damien blinked. "...What does drunk mean?"

Seraphine stared at him. "Wait... you've never been drunk before?"

"No."

Her eyes sparkled mischievously. "Oh, this is going to be fun."

She pushed the bottle closer. "Trust me. It's a very nice feeling."

Damien looked skeptical.

Seraphine leaned forward conspiratorially. "You should drink like... three or four bottles."

"Four?"

"You're a powerful guy," she teased. "Surely you can handle a few drinks."

Damien narrowed his eyes slightly. "You're challenging me."

Seraphine smiled innocently. "Maybe."

Damien picked up the bottle. "Fine."

He drank.

Then another.

Then another.

They talked while they ate, the conversation flowing easily.

Seraphine told him stories about the human world, school, music, ridiculous trends, and stupid arguments people had over the internet.

Damien listened with amusement. "You humans are fascinating creatures," he said.

"That's one word for it."

After the fourth bottle, Damien leaned back in his chair. "...The ground is moving."

Seraphine blinked. "The ground is not moving."

He pointed at the table. "It definitely is."

Seraphine burst into laughter. "Oh no."

Damien looked at her with unfocused eyes. "...Seraphine."

"Yes?"

"You have two heads."

She nearly fell off her chair laughing. "You're drunk."

Damien nodded thoughtfully. "This feeling is... strange."

"Good strange or bad strange?"

He thought about it. "...Good strange."

Seraphine shook her head, still laughing as she pulled out her phone.

"Alright, dragon-slayer. That's enough adventure for tonight."

She called a taxi.

A few minutes later she was half-dragging Damien into the back seat.

The driver glanced at them through the mirror. "Rough night?"

Seraphine sighed. "You have no idea."

Damien leaned his head against the window, mumbling something about fried chicken being a "sacred human treasure."

Seraphine smiled softly despite herself.

As the taxi drove through the glowing city streets, she looked over at him.

For once, the powerful Damien looked completely relaxed.

Peaceful.

Human.

She gently pushed his hair away from his forehead.

"Welcome to my world, Damien."

The taxi finally stopped in front of the quiet house.

Seraphine sighed in relief. "Thank goodness."

Damien leaned heavily against her shoulder, clearly drunk. His usually sharp, confident eyes were hazy, and a lazy smile kept appearing on his face like he had discovered the funniest secret in the world.

"You know..." he murmured, pointing vaguely at nothing. "The streetlights are... spinning."

Seraphine laughed softly. "They're not spinning. You're drunk."

"I like drunk," Damien said seriously. "You were right. Wonderful feeling."

She rolled her eyes but couldn't stop smiling. "Come on, dragon-boy."

"I'm not a dragon anymore," he mumbled dramatically.

"Exactly," she teased. "So now you're just a lightweight."

She tried to pull him out of the taxi, but Damien nearly collapsed against her.

At that moment, the front door opened. Juna stepped out, raising an eyebrow.

"...What happened to him?"

Seraphine groaned. "Fried chicken and four bottles of alcohol."

Juna stared at Damien. "...Four?"

"He wanted to impress me."

Juna burst into laughter. "Well, that explains everything."

Together, they lifted Damien and slowly dragged him inside.

After a few minutes of struggling and bumping into furniture, they finally reached his room.

They dropped him carefully on the bed.

Juna stretched her arms. "You owe me for this," she said.

Seraphine nodded gratefully. "I know."

Juna glanced at the two of them with a small smirk before leaving the room. "Goodnight, lovebirds."

The door closed.

Silence filled the room.

Seraphine exhaled slowly and turned back to Damien.

He had already half-fallen asleep.

She bent down and removed his shoes carefully, placing them beside the bed. Then she pulled a blanket over him.

His hair was messy now, his shirt slightly unbuttoned, and he looked far less intimidating than the powerful boy everyone feared at Aetherborn.

Right now...

He just looked vulnerable.

Seraphine watched him for a moment before turning to leave.

But suddenly-

A hand grabbed her wrist.

Her breath caught.

"Don't go."

Damien's voice was low and slightly slurred, but sincere.

Before she could react, he gently pulled her forward.

Seraphine lost her balance and fell onto the bed beside him.

"Damien-"

He turned toward her. His eyes, though hazy with alcohol, were filled with something raw and honest.

"I love you."

The words came out quietly but they carried the weight of everything he had never said before.

Seraphine froze.

Damien continued, his voice softer now. "I've never felt like this with anyone."

His hand slowly found hers. "I'm crazy about you."

Her heart started pounding. "I really love you," he whispered. "And I really want you."

Seraphine couldn't look away from him.

"I've fallen for you so much... I don't even know what it would take for you to love me back." His thumb brushed gently against her hand. "But I'd do anything," he said quietly. "Anything... just to be yours."

The room felt impossibly still.

Then Damien leaned closer.

And kissed her.

Seraphine didn't pull away Instead, she kissed him back.

Soft at first.

Then deeper.

The kiss stretched longer than either of them expected, filled with weeks of tension, unspoken feelings, and dangerous attraction.

Damien's arm slid around her waist, pulling her slightly closer.

Seraphine's fingers tightened against his shirt.

The warmth between them grew stronger, their breathing heavier.

Finally, Seraphine pulled back slightly. Her heart was racing.

"Damien..."

He looked at her like she was the only thing in the world.

She swallowed.

Then whispered, "Have me."

Damien blinked in surprise. "What did you say?"

Seraphine met his gaze, her voice trembling slightly but certain. "I want you," she said quietly.

Damien stared at her, trying to process the words.

And Seraphine leaned closer, resting her forehead against his.

"Make love to me tonight."

For a moment, Damien didn't move.

As if he were afraid this was just another drunken illusion.

But then his hand gently touched her cheek.

And the space between them disappeared again as he kissed her, slow, deep, and full of emotion.

Outside, the night continued quietly.

But inside that room...

Everything between them had just changed.
