Chapter 600 Transaction

Chapter 600 Transaction

Vincent's eyes narrowed slightly. Paul had told him about the Gray sisters' car accident a week ago.

During this time, he had been holding back, maintaining a facade of calm.

He knew that the more he showed concern, the more suspicious Elizabeth would become.

He had to pretend to be unaware, hoping Elizabeth would leave the Gray family alone.

He was well aware of the animosity between Elizabeth and Emily. Emily had previously refused Elizabeth's request for a medical procedure, planting a seed of hatred in Elizabeth's heart.

Elizabeth's eyes glinted with a cold smile, like a chilling winter wind.

Vincent shook his head slightly, his expression indifferent. "I'm not close to her, so I don't feel anything about it."

Seeing Vincent's genuine expression, Elizabeth pouted in displeasure, plopping down on a nearby chair and crossing her legs. "She's really lucky, managing to snag one of Aestrale's top heirs with two kids in tow. Vincent, do you guys really find her type attractive?"

Vincent's mind involuntarily conjured up Emily's face. Without thinking, he silently admitted to himself, 'Yes, she's beautiful.'

But when he looked up and saw Elizabeth's mocking and malicious expression, his brow furrowed, and his gaze turned icy. He stared at Elizabeth coldly and said, "Elizabeth, you know I don't like you meddling in my affairs. The Watson family has done me a great favor, and that's undeniable."

"So I don't want you to harm any of them. I don't care about their current news, so stop testing me."

Elizabeth was taken aback by Vincent's sudden, stern rebuke. She made a silly face to ease the tension, then quickly hugged Vincent's arm, whining, "Vincent, you promised to take me on a vacation to the island. When are we going?"

Vincent impatiently shook off her hand, burying himself in his documents. "When your wound heals and you can swim, we'll go."

With that, he ignored Elizabeth, circling key mining locations on a map, as if trying to contain the chaos of the world within the document.

Vincent repeatedly called Emily, but the cold message on the other end said her phone was off.

His face twisted with anger, and he slammed his fist on the desk before grabbing his phone and storming into Paul's room.

"Is the news online true? Didn't I tell you to keep an eye on Emily? How could she get engaged to Jett?" Vincent's eyes blazed with fury, his voice seething with suppressed rage.

Paul clenched his jaw, his gaze shifting between the news on his phone and Vincent's enraged face. After a moment of hesitation, he couldn't bring himself to lie. "Yes, it's a deal between Emily and me."

"What deal?" Vincent's voice was low, his anger like an undercurrent in his words, each one laced with ice.

Paul fiddled with a lighter, not looking up. "It's about Ernest. I promised Emily I'd turn him over to the police, and she agreed to marry someone."

Vincent slammed the lighter on the table, growling, "Why the hell would you do that?"

Paul looked up, his eyes filled with helplessness and pain. "Can't you see? You and Emily are in this mess because of your stubbornness."

"I told you before, she's not right for you. Now that you've chosen to return to being Vincent Phillips, you should know your identity brings her trouble."

"Do you think Elizabeth and Mr. Inome will leave her alone? If they find out about Emily and you, or Tina and Craig's identities, Susan and Victoria's fate could be a preview for Emily and the kids."

"You think Elizabeth did it?"

Vincent looked at Paul in disbelief. Paul shook his head in pain. "Vincent, don't push me. I've seen things you haven't."

"What have you seen?" Vincent asked.

"Emily's trip to Lumina was a near-death experience. I saw her car get hit right in front of me." Paul's voice trembled, recalling the terrifying scene.

"Vincent, if you don't love her anymore, at least let her live. She's still Tina and Craig's mother." Paul's voice carried a hint of pleading.

"Who said I don't love her?" Vincent, as if touched on a raw nerve, grabbed Paul's collar, roaring in anger.

Paul, facing Vincent's fury, swallowed hard and asked, "Wasn't it you who had her car hit?"

Hearing this, Vincent realized that both Paul and Emily thought he was behind the accident.

He slowly released Paul, pushing him away, and sighed deeply, leaning on the windowsill, looking exhausted. "It wasn't me."

Paul gave a bitter smile, collapsing on the couch. "Vincent, I wish it were you."

Vincent understood that if it wasn't him, it had to be Elizabeth. Armando had conflicts with Emily but wouldn't kill her. Emily had no other mortal enemies, leaving only the Inome family.

Paul, rubbing his forehead in frustration, said, "I thought she wouldn't agree to the marriage, but the situation was urgent. I thought you didn't love her anymore, wanting to cut ties with your past identity."

"I didn't want her to cling to you, so I traded Ernest's life for her promise to marry within a month."

"I told her to take her time choosing, but I didn't expect her to pick Jett so quickly."

"Vincent, should I call her and tell her not to get engaged?" Paul asked, panicking.

"It's too late." Vincent shook his head, recalling their last meeting when Emily questioned him. He had stubbornly believed in Elizabeth's character, which to Emily, was a sign of his distrust. So she had resolutely agreed to Paul's terms.
