Chapter 17 Uneasiness
CHAPTER 17
\-LILITH-
The special guest is none other than the popular princess of Shadowcrest pack. She's known for her bravery all round the packs.
I have always heard of her bravery, defeating rogues alongside soldiers of the pack.
However, I'm still in shock seeing her here in the Blood moon pack. I've been constantly stealing glances at her, admiring how beautiful she is.
Everyone is seated at the dining.. Alpha Damian, his mother and Princess Rivera.
Nerida and a few other maids were present as well but I focused more on serving Alpha Damian.
But, that doesn't mean I won't take orders from Alpha Damian's mother or princess Riviera if they need anything.
This is a formal dinner and I have to be cautious.
“You over there, pour me a glass of water” Princess Rivera pointed at me and I obliged.
I moved closer to her and began pouring out some water for her.
“Son, I believe you already know who Princess Rivera is. You two used to be childhood best friends until she left..”
“I know, Mother. But, what I don't know is why you suddenly invited her over when there's no occasion” Alpha Damian responded.
“Do I need a special invitation to be here?” Princess Rivera asked, gulping down the water and passing the glass back to me for refill.
“On a special note, yes..”
“Then I guess your mother has the perfect answer”
“Mother?..” He called out.
“Well, Son… I have decided to get you and Rivera engaged”
I heard a loud bang in my head… My hands trembled and I accidentally spilled water on Princess Rivera.
“What in the world?” She sprang up with full force while I trembled in fear of committing the biggest mistake.
“you little twart..!” She thundered, landing an ear deafening slap on my cheeks.
It sent me to the floor and in the process, I bruised my arm.
Rather than thinking about the pain, I immediately went on my knees.
“I'm sorry.. I'm terribly sorry, I didn't mean to” I apologized in a low tone, fighting back the tears that were threatening to spill from my eyes.
“What incompetency… Is this how you train your maids, Alpha Damian?”
“That's enough, Rivera. I won't have you insult my maid without any specific reason”
Alpha Damian growled loudly.
“Without a specific reason? She ruined my dress”
“That doesn't give you the right to hit my maid”
His voice was laced with anger.. I could tell.. I could feel it.
“I'm sorry, this is all my fault” I apologized again generally.
“All maids leave… Right this instant”
Alpha Damian's mother ordered and everyone scurried out to avoid more problems.. Problems I created because of the sudden news of Alpha Damian getting engaged to Princess Rivera.
I didn't see it coming and that's why I acted way out of control.
I don't know what I felt at the moment, but I was uncomfortable with the idea.
How can hisother get him engaged when he has a mate? But, who am I to worry?
I'm nobody but just an ordinary maid. He's an Alpha.. A well respected and feared Alpha of Blood moon pack.
His mother might not even approve of it.
Tears rolled down my eyes.. I have no idea why I'm crying. It's probably because his mother is making plans to get him engaged. Or, maybe.. because I ruined their perfect meal together.
Or better still, I'm just in pain from the slap and bruise I got.
As for Alpha Damian, he had a cold look on.. His hands balled in tight fists and I can't tell what she feels at the moment.
He's probably so disappointed at me for ruining breakfast.
I feel really bad.. so bad that I think I've gotten on not just his bad side, but also that of his mother and Princess Rivera.
“Look who's on the verge of having her head chopped off”
Nerida showed up, walking towards me with a proud smirk on her face.
She looks like she just won a lottery.
This time, it wasn't her doing but a silly mistake on my path.
I wiped the small tears off my face and turned away.
I'm really not ready for her blabberings.
“What? cat caught your tongue now? you can't say anything after ruining Princess Rivera’s dress? And there you were earlier, all confident and even throwing warnings at me about all sorts of things… Now look where all that landed you. ..”
She paused and shared a laugh with her minions.
“You know what? I know you would be no good for Alpha Damian. Look how you ruined things out there”
“Can you just let me be, Nerida… I have no time to exchange words with you”
“Of course… Take all the time you need because I'm pretty sure you won't be getting any more time”
I wanted to react when Beta Lucien's voice came right through.
“What is going on here?”
“Nothing, We were only trying to reprimand her for being so careless” Nerida responded.
“I don't remember the Alpha giving the right to reprimand his personal maid. Did you forget the law? No one has the right to say a word to her except Alpha Damian himself”
“I know that, beta Lucien.. but”
“Leave, Nerida” He interrupted.
One more evil smirk at me, she left with her minions and it's just Beta Lucien and I.
“Are you okay?” He asked calmly.
“I ruined their meal.. I guess I should await a terrible punishment right?’?”
“Only Alpha Damian has the right to answer that. I understand none of that was your fault, but you don't have to be scared..”
I sighed deeply.
“By the way, Alpha Damian demands your presence. He's up in his room and wants to see you” He informed me.
Fear washed over me as I thought of what he's going to do. Rain insults and say that I'm incompetent.. I honestly don't want that.
I looked at Beta Lucien.. straight into his eyes, searching for nothing.
“Is everything okay, Beta Lucien? What about the meal?”
The questions rolled out of my lips before I could stop myself.
“Alpha Damian got furious and left.. Now, he's demanding your presence. Go Lilith, you don't want keep him waiting”
I left hurriedly, heading back into the palace and towards his room.
But, my hands trembled… My feet felt light against the ground but I managed to drag myself up to his room.
“Oh, Lilith… We are so doomed” Lena cried out in my head, leaving me with more worries.
