Chapter 14 Becoming his personal maid
CHAPTER 14.
\-LILITH-
Later that day.
“Do you know why we are gathered? Do you have any idea?” Becky whispered to me.
I looked around and I'm also as curious as ever, wondering why all the slaves were suddenly called.
I could see fear and panic on their faces and I'm also a bit nervous.
Did something happen? Or did Alpha Damian get so furious for what I did? Am I going to pay the price for being so blunt and refusing to speak about that night?
“I have no idea, Becky”
She sighed audibly.
Shortly, Beta Lucien walked in and everyone stood at alert.
His eyes landed on me and he let out a small smile… I smiled back faintly because I think not returning the smile of someone of such class is pretty offensive.
“Is everyone present? I believe no one is absent”
“Yes. No one is missing. Isn't Alpha Damian joining us?”
Nerida asked.
“No.. However, Alpha Damian wants to make a declaration. Henceforth, a maid will be assigned to serve him. Everything he needs, his breakfast, lunch and dinner will be handled by that maid…”
“In essence, Alpha Damian wants a personal maid?”
Nerida asked, moving forward.
“You can put it that way”
“In that case, there's no need to speak further.. I can be his personal maid. I have been the head maid for so long and you can be rest assured that I'll do a good job”
She suggested, and that would be so great. Looking at all the slaves present, no one would want to serve Alpha Damian alone.
Who would want to have her heads chopped off on a platter of gold?
“Lilith…”
I flinched as I heard my name… All eyes turned towards me and obviously, I was the only one with such a name here.
He was strong directly at me, then smiled softly.
“Step forward, will you?”
I hesitated but knew better than to keep him waiting. I moved closer to him, wondering why he called out my name.. Deep down, I hope it's not what I'm thinking.
“She has been chosen to become Alpha Damian's personal maid..”
My heart dropped..Just like I'd imagined.
“What? That can't happen. She can't serve Alpha Damian”
Nerida bursted out.
“Are you trying to question his decision and order?” Beta Lucien asked… his voice stern and measured.
“No.. I'm not trying to question his order.. I'm just…” She paused, eyed me and continued.
“Look at her. She's inexperienced. She can't handle Alpha Damian in a proper way that I can. Only I can take proper care of him, you know that”
I wish Alpha Damian's decision can be changed… I wished he'd take Nerida instead since she is already volunteering and not me.
Why do I feel like this was done on purpose? Why do I feel like he wants a way I could be close to him?
“The decision has been made, you can't change it, Nerida. And, just so you know…she has been made to receive orders from the Alpha himself. You or anyone else, have no right in ordering her around.. do you understand that?”
Nerida hesitated before responding with a nod.
He dismissed the gathering.. Everyone left, except for me. He insisted I stay back for a while.
When it's just the both of us, he moves closer.. The smile on his face did not waver.
“You must be surprised uh?” He asked.
“I am.. no doubt. But, why would Alpha Damian want me to become his personal maid. Just like Nerida had said, I am inexperienced and she would be the perfect candidate for it”
“Unfortunately, we can't have him questioned. Perhaps, if you have the guts, you could ask him that yourself”
I didn't say a word but just chewed on my lower lips.
“By the way, you know what you need to do. Breakfast, lunch and dinner… You have to tidy up his room and do everything else specifically for his comfort. I believe that's not too hard for you to do, uh?”
I shook my head negatively.
“Have fun, Lilith”
With that, they turned and walked out.. His hands were crossed to the back.
I stared at his fading figure and of course, I found it so hard to believe.
And fun?.. What's so fun about it? If only he knows how much it takes one to serve Alpha Damian. Not to talk about having to do it over and over again.
I turned and walked out, counting kyr steps and thinking about the things I'd be doing for Alpha Damian as his personal maid.
I have to keep seeing him and he won't stop trying to bring that up.
“Hey” I flinched when Becky suddenly popped up on my way.
“Hey.. you startled me”
I held my chest. Feeling the rate of my heartbeat fast.
“Tell me, what did you do to make Alpha Damian pick you? There's Nerida and others who have served him for a long.. But he picked an ordinary slave who just got here a few days from now..”
I rolled my eyes.
“Make? I didn't do anything. I only served him breakfast in your place, remember”
“Then, I guess you are just lucky. Because, right now.. no one can order you around except the Alpha himself. This has saved you from the clutches of Nerida. That way, you'd get to have lots of free time”
‘I doubt that has saved me from Neruda clutches. Didn't you say she has a thing for Alpha Damian? I don't feel so comfortable, Becky…”
She placed a hand on my shoulder, patted me slightly and said.
“Listen, you are only going to serve him. He's an Alpha, that doesn't mean he's going to bite you”
Again, I rolled my eyes.
“Why do I feel like you want to do this in my place?” I asked, teasing her.
She lifted her hands up and said.
“Nope.. I prefer slaving around and working my butt off than becoming the personal maid for Alpha Damian…But, I wish you all the strength my good friend” She says like it's a farewell speech or whatever.
“You're unbelievable, Becky”
“A piece of advice, Lilith… Don't get too close to Alpha Damian if you don't want to get burnt by Nerida. Remember, she has eyes for him”
“I'm not getting close to Alpha Damian, you don't have to worry”
She shrugged and together, we both began to walk towards the slave quarters.
However, getting a stern warning about Nerida brings me to a second thought.
I'm still trying to heal from Sylas’ so, there is no way I'm ready to get caught up in a love triangle or whatever.
Alpha Damian can reject me for all I care. I'm ready to bear another rejection

My gaze lingered on her walking away.. A small smile creeped on my face as I watched her step into the quarters.
It's just like I expected… Things are turning out the way I imagined.
“Bringing you down isn't much of a task… Now, it's obvious who the perfect bait is. soon, she's going to be your perfect little weakness… someone you can't do without”
I let out an hysterical laughter.
“Just a little more push and I'll have everything in my palm. I'll crush you to pieces and Mark my words, you will come begging at my feet”
I let out another silent laughter, feeling good things are working out as it's supposed to be in my favour.
