Chapter 27
They walked into the room. Larry put their bags down on the floor and put his arm around Rebecca. "Close your eyes."
"Do I have to?"
"Please?"
Rebecca closed her eyes. "What did you do, Larry?"
Larry led her down the hall to the bedroom. He opened the door and they went inside. Larry led her to another door. "You can open your eyes now."
Rebecca opened her eyes and looked at the door. She slowly opened it. "It's a huge closet."
"Yes, it is quite large, but I am sure we can fill it up rather quickly."
Rebecca walked into the closet, turned around and walked out. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her lips to his. "Thank you, Larry. I love it."
"You're welcome," Larry said. "I am going to talk to Duane and then I will come back and help you put your clothes away."
"I love you."
"I love you." Larry kissed her. "I'll be back shortly."
"All right." Rebecca let go of Larry. He walked out. Rebecca walked into the closet and looked at all the shelves. She sunk down onto the floor and put her head on her knees. She wrapped her arms around her knees.
Larry called Rebecca as he walked into the bedroom a short while later. He looked in the closet and saw her. "Rebecca, are you all right?" Rebecca didn't say anything. Larry walked into the closet and squatted down in front of her. "What's wrong, baby?"
Rebecca raised her head and looked at Larry with tear filled eyes. "It's so much."
"It's just a closet, sweetheart."
"It must so big and so much."
"It's not a big deal. You needed a closet and now you got one. Yes, it's a little large, but it's how they built it," Larry said. "Rebecca, I love you. This closet doesn't come close to showing you really how much."
"I love you, too. I wish I could give you something to show you." Rebecca said as she wiped her eyes on her shirt.
"Just be happy. That's how you can show me," Larry said. "I hate seeing you cry."
Rebecca smiled. "It could just be my hormones on the fritz."
"It could be. Why don't we get out of this closet.”? Larry took her hand. He got up and pulled her up. They stepped out of the closet. Larry pulled her close. "I love you. Please don't cry anymore."
"I'll try not to. Did you take care of everything with Duane?"
"Yes. He left," Larry said. "I know you asked me not to spoil you but this isn't really spoiling you when you need it. I want you in my room with me. I want you all the way here in my bed, in my home, in my life and you are definitely in my heart."
Rebecca looked up at him. "You are going to make me cry again."
"Do you want to move your clothes over?"
"No. I just want to hold you and be with you. I can do that tomorrow."
"All right," Larry said. "I'll go shut off the lights and get some drinks. Then we can watch a movie."
"All right." They walked out of the room.
Larry woke up to Rebecca moving in the bed. He put his arm around her and snuggled closer. "Where do you think you're going?"
"I was just going to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back."
Larry released his hold. "I'll be waiting," he said. Rebecca got out of bed and hurried to the bathroom. She came back to bed a few minutes later. Larry pulled her close. "What do you have planned for today?"
"I think I am going to work on the advertisement for a while. I also want to go to the grocery store sometime."
"If you make a list, I can have someone get what you need."
"I'd rather go myself. You don't have to go with me."
"I guess I can have someone take you."
"I can take the bus or a taxi. It's not a big deal for me."
"I know, but I would feel better if someone took you."
"Maybe I can wait until tomorrow. My stuff will be here today."
"You don't know what you want to do, do you?"
"I wanted to make you dinner, but I need to go to the store. I guess I will just wait to see how things play out."
"You don't have to make me dinner," Larry said. He felt Rebecca take a deep breath. "Especially with everything going on today. You can make me dinner tomorrow maybe."
"All right. Maybe I can find my recipe books by then."
"All right."
"What time do you have to be at the office?"
"Whenever I get there, I guess."
"Well, then you have time for breakfast." Rebecca said then rolled over to face him. "What would you want?"
"I don't know. Surprise me."
"All right." Rebecca said then kissed him. She got out of bed. She walked out of the bedroom and to the kitchen.
Larry came out a while later dressed for the office. Rebecca poured him a cup of coffee and set it down on the counter. "I was going to make you something, but there isn't anything here. I called downstairs. It should be here soon," Rebecca said. "Larry, I really need to go shopping. Your cupboards are bare." Rebecca said as she opened some doors.
"All right. I'm sorry," Larry said. "I'll leave you some money and have Duane take you."
"It doesn't have to be now. It can wait," Rebecca said. "Your refrigerator is stocked, but nothing else."
"I usually eat sandwiches here. I only cook when I have to. And that doesn't happen often."
"I know, but now I am here, so you better get used to your kitchen being used."
"I'm looking toward to it."
"Good, because I like being in the kitchen. It's relaxing for me and I know I have someone to cook for."
"Yes, you do," Larry said. "You can also go down to the restaurant and get what you need until we can get to the grocery store."
"All right," Rebecca said.
"We will get there when everything is settled."
"I know. I hate not being able to go and do things by myself, but I know that if I try to get my license and other cards, the detective could find out where I am. I'm just going to try to be patient a while longer."
"I promise as soon as we can, we will get your paperwork done."
"I know," Rebecca said. "I've never been a patient person. I am doing my best."
"It doesn't bother me how impatient you are. I actually think it's kind of funny."
"Thanks. Now I'm funny," Rebecca said. The doorbell rang. "That should be breakfast."
"I'll get it." Larry jumped up. "You're not dressed." He hurried to the door in front of her.
"I'm covered. Nothing is showing."
"Barely." Larry said then opened the door. "Hey, Carl. Thank you."
"You're welcome sir."
Larry brought the cart in. "What did you order? It sure smells good."
"A little of everything, I guess." Rebecca said then came over and took the cart. She pushed it to the table. She unloaded the food onto the table. "Come on, let's eat." She said then sat down. Larry picked up his coffee and joined her at the table. They ate their breakfast.
Shortly after they got done, Larry's phone rang. He pulled it out and looked at it. "It's the office."
"You better get it then. You don't want your dad to ground you." Rebecca teased.
Larry answered his phone. "Hello?" He said. "Yes. I am about to leave shortly. Yes, what else is new. Tell him to calm down and wait. I am on my way." Larry said then hung up. "I guess I should get going. Breakfast was good." He said as he got up.
Rebecca got up and stood in front of him. She straightened his tie. "Have a good day."
"I'll call you when the truck is almost here."
"Great." Rebecca leaned up and kissed him. "I love you."
"I love you, too," Larry said. "Don't work too hard."
"I won't," Rebecca said. "I'll see you when you get home."
Larry picked up his jacket for the back of the chair and walked to the door. He walked out.
Rebecca pulled the flash drive out of her laptop and picked up her phone. She walked over to the door and opened it. She walked out.
Duane came from the stairwell. "Morning, Rebecca."
"Morning Duane. What are you doing up here?"
"Just doing a security check. Someone does it every day."
"Oh, all right. I'm going downstairs to print somethings out. Larry's computer is password protected and I need a printer. Shelly said I could use the one is his office downstairs."
"I'll walk with you." Duane said as he pushed the elevator button.
"Have you heard from Brian lately?"
"Yes, they left a couple of hours ago."
"Larry said he would let me know when they are close but I haven't heard anything."
"It takes longer with a truck than a car."
"I know. I'm just impatient."
"Don't worry, they will get here soon."
"I know they will," Rebecca said. The elevator doors opened and they got on.
