BACK HOME.
CLARISSA:
It was late at midnight when Jason phoned, and then I realized how much I had missed him all this while. I had not realized that a part of me had been empty until it was filled again. His voice was as smooth as water on a rock, and he talked like he had never left, like we had not been away from each other for almost a month now. Maybe I should have told him of how much Cisca had pined for him that she almost fell sick, there was no need for that anyway, he would see it all for himself. I was also brimming with curiosity, I wanted to know of the things he had been up to while he was away from home —I hoped there had not been another war, I hoped he had not returned broken as he did before, depressed and fully garbed with misery.
“J-Jason! You are back! When did you get back?!” I screamed, forgetting that Cisca and Nolle where fast asleep, good gracious they did not wake up, they did not even stir — they were both so tired of the day’s activities and were both knocked out like corpses.
“Clarissa! You have no idea how much I’ve missed you, I just got back to the city tonight, how have you been holding up?” His voice came through the speakers, he sounded do excited to be speaking with me, as excited as I was.
“I’ve been alright, your grandma is fine too. Everything has just been boring with you away, all we do is work and work. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow. “ I replied, I remembered our last encounter and there was a lump in my throat, Nolle had said we needed some time apart from each other, but that was not true, I still felt like a child. I craved his touch and attention.
“Can’t wait to see you too, Clarissa. And Cisca?” He asked, he did miss Cisca also, there was no denying that, the two of them were inseparable around each other.
“Um, that one has missed you so badly, she might just kick you in frustration the next time she sets her eyes on you, you better come armed to the teeth.” I warned, and as if she could hear her name, Cisca stirred in her sleep again.
“Thank you for warning me, I better get my armor ready tonight, I don’t want to return amputated, she’s a fierce one.” Jason said, in between chuckles.
JASON.
That night I could hardly sleep, and I woke up as quickly like a boy who had successfully asked his crush out to prom night. I quickly took a shower and got dressed, I think I was so eager because I had very little time to spend with Clarissa and my grandma before I needed to go back to my pack again. I had learnt that leaving a pack untended to for a long time caused unexpected things to happen, things like treason and the infiltration of spies. Although my beta, Joshua was really competent the pack still needed it’s leader to thrive and develop in the right direction.
After getting ready, I decided to pay a visit to my grandma before Clarissa arrived. She had always been a pillar of strength for me, and I couldn’t wait to see her smile again. As I walked into her room, she was sitting by the window, knitting a scarf. Her eyes sparkled with joy when she saw me.
“Jason, my dear boy, you’re finally back!” Grandma exclaimed, her voice filled with warmth and love. I rushed to her side and embraced her tightly, feeling a sense of comfort wash over me. “I’ve missed you so much, Grandma,” I whispered.
We spent some time catching up, and she shared stories of her days while I was away. Her wisdom was always inspiring, and I cherished every moment spent with her. As our conversation drifted towards family and the importance of love, she smiled knowingly.
“I see the way you look at Clarissa, my boy. She’s a wonderful woman, and she loves you deeply. Don’t let the hardships of the past cloud your present happiness,” Grandma advised, her words resonating deeply within me. She always had a way of offering guidance without being pushy.
Thanking her for her wisdom, I left Grandma’s room, feeling lighter and more determined to make the most of the time I had with Clarissa. When she arriver, I called her and asked her to leave work early, telling her to dress up for a special occasion. I wanted to surprise her and create new memories together.
CLARISSA:
When Jason called and told me to leave work early, my heart skipped a beat. The excitement in his voice was contagious, and I could hardly contain my joy. I hurriedly finished my tasks, eagerly anticipating what Jason had planned for us. I changed into a beautiful dress, adding a touch of perfume to complete my look.
As I arrived at our meeting spot, Jason was waiting for me with a bouquet of flowers in hand. The sight of him made my heart flutter, and I couldn’t help but feel like the luckiest woman in the world.
“Wow, you look breathtaking, Clarissa,” Jason complimented, his eyes filled with admiration. I blushed and thanked him, feeling a surge of confidence and happiness.
We went on a romantic date, strolling through the park hand in hand, laughing and sharing stories. The world around us seemed to fade away as we soaked in each other’s presence. It felt like time had paused, allowing us to relish every precious moment.
As the sun began to set, we made our way back to my place. To my surprise, Nolle had prepared a feast for us, the table adorned with delectable dishes. The aroma filled the air, making my stomach growl in anticipation.
NOLLE:
Seeing Clarissa and Jason together again filled my heart with joy. I had witnessed their journey, the ups and downs, and it was a relief to see them both happy in each other’s company. I had prepared a feast to celebrate their reunion, wanting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere for their special night.
Cisca, who had been eagerly waiting for Jason’s return, was bursting with excitement. She couldn’t sit still, constantly asking questions and bombarding Jason with her uncontainable energy. He laughed and answered every question patiently, enjoying her enthusiasm.
As we sat down to eat, the room was filled with laughter and conversation. The delicious food seemed to taste even better in the company of loved ones. We shared stories, made plans for the future, and cherished the simple joy of being together.
