Chapter Eleven: I need to talk to you
Catherine's face contorted with a mix of anger and fear. She struggled against Sophie's grip, but Sophie held firm, her eyes filled with a newfound strength.
"Let go of me!" Catherine spat, her voice laced with venom.
Sophie released Catherine's wrist, taking a step back. "I don't want to fight with you, Catherine. We're both in a difficult situation, and we need to find a way to navigate it together. But if you continue to attack me, I won't hesitate to defend myself."
Catherine glared at Sophie, her breathing heavy with anger. "You may have Tyler fooled, but I see through your act. I won't let you destroy everything I've worked for." With those words Catherine stopped out but she wasn’t happy at all and mostly angry at the fact that Tyler had to humiliate her just to make Freya happy.
“Ahhhhh, that bitch!!! She thinks she can just come in here and suddenly start claiming a position that doesn’t belong to her!!” Catherine yelled in frustration after entering her chambers as she threw things everywhere.
With a heavy breath and bleeding hands, she sat on the floor with everything around her shattered.
“You think you can just frustrate me so easily after it took me great hard work to execute Sophie now you want to die.” Catherine murmured, cleaning her tears before standing up with a great plan in mind.
By nightfall, Catherine had already cooked up a plan and waited for the right moment to use it,which was during Sophie’s bath time.
As the night grew darker, Catherine's plan began to take shape. She had mixed a potent acid into Sophie's bathing water, intending to destroy her face and ruin any chance she had with Tyler. Catherine's anger and jealousy had consumed her, blinding her to the consequences of her actions.
With a wicked smile on her face, Catherine waited for the perfect moment to put her plan into motion. She knew that Sophie's bath time was approaching, and she wanted to ensure that no one would interrupt her sinister scheme.
However, fate had other plans in store. Just as Catherine was about to pour the tainted water into the bathtub, a loud crash echoed from outside the chambers. Startled, Catherine quickly hid the acid behind her back and rushed to see what had happened.
To her surprise, she found one of the maids, who had accidentally knocked over a tray of dishes. The maid looked at Catherine with wide eyes, clearly terrified by the mess she had made.
Catherine's anger flared, but she knew she couldn't let her emotions get the best of her. She needed to maintain her composure and find a way to ensure that Sophie didn't bathe in the acid-laced water.
"Clean this up immediately," Catherine ordered, her voice cold and commanding. "And make sure no one disturbs Freya during her bath. I want her to have complete privacy."
The maid nodded, her hands trembling as she began to clean up the broken dishes. Catherine watched her for a moment, making sure that the task was being carried out properly, before she turned and hurried back to her chambers.
Once inside, Catherine took a deep breath, her mind racing with alternative plans. She couldn't let this setback deter her. She needed to find another opportunity to carry out her revenge.
So she decided to poison Tyler’s mind as that was her only chance at hitting Sophie where it would hurt.
Catherine prepared herself in a very seductive dress with make up as she stood in front of Tyler’s study room feeling a bit frightened to knock on the door after what he had done to her in the morning but she had courage and was ready to get Sophie out no matter the cost.
Catherine took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come. She knocked on the door of Tyler's study room, her heart pounding in her chest. The door swung open, revealing Tyler sitting behind his desk, engrossed in his work.
He looked up, surprise evident on his face. "Catherine? What are you doing here?"
Catherine forced a smile, her voice dripping with sweetness. "I just wanted to talk to you, Tyler. It's important."
Tyler motioned for her to come in, and Catherine stepped into the room, her eyes scanning the space for any sign of Sophie. And there she was, sitting in a chair by the window, engrossed in a book.
Fear gripped Catherine's heart. She couldn't let Sophie have any more time alone with Tyler. She needed to get her out of the room, away from his influence.
"Tyler, can we speak privately?" Catherine asked, her voice filled with urgency.
Tyler looked at her, confusion evident in his eyes. "Sure, Catherine. Freya, could you give us a moment?"
Sophie looked up from her book, her expression curious. "Of course, Tyler. I'll be right outside if you need me."
As Sophie left the room, Catherine felt a wave of relief wash over her. She had managed to separate them, at least for now. She needed to act quickly before Sophie could convince Tyler of her loyalty.
"Catherine, what's this all about?" Tyler asked, his brow furrowing.
Catherine took a step closer to him, her voice low and filled with desperation. "Tyler, I need you to listen to me.Freya is not who she seems. She's been manipulating you, trying to take everything away from me."
Tyler's eyes widened in surprise. "What are you talking about, Catherine? Tyler has been nothing but loyal and trustworthy."
Catherine shook her head, her voice trembling. "No, Tyler. She's playing a game, trying to win your favor. She wants to be your mate, to take my place by your side. I can't let her destroy everything we have."
Tyler's expression hardened, his eyes narrowing. "I find it hard to believe, Catherine. Sophie has shown me nothing but kindness and honesty. I won't let you tarnish her reputation without solid proof."
Catherine's heart sank. She had hoped that Tyler would believe her, that he would see through Sophie's facade. But it seemed that her words were falling on deaf ears.
Her fears had been true, Tyler was indeed in love with Sophie.
