CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR
CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR
Chills ran up my spine as I remembered the incident from the last party I went to, it was electrifying, and haunting.
But this girl —Sarah— wouldn’t even let me fear in peace.
“Let’s go over to that corner, there are lots of good-looking men there”, she whispered, dragging me along before I could object.
“Oh lord, Sarah… please” I groaned, laughing unwillingly.
“Sip the wine with Steeze”, she continued, posing dramatically like a Bollywood diva.
We laughed loudly although the music overshowed our voices.
“Why are you dancing like you are at some nineteenth-century gala, shake that ass!”, I teased Sarah.
“Arghh… me? Ok hold on”, she answers with a wicked smile, keeping her drink on the counter and placing her hands on her thighs as she drops low in a seductive squat.
“Now watch how I do it, let me teach you how to twerk”, she said, backing up her words with a finger-licking ass-jiggling performance.
“Go Sarah, go, Sarah, go Sarah”, I hailed, clapping and hailing her, as ironically, I just couldn’t do the twerk dance after teasing her.
In a short while, we had company, I looked around, “damn… Sarah’s small dance has attracted a lot of fans indeed”, I giggled.
Sarah’s eyes observed nervously, “And it’s all your fault”, she whispered, ending the dance with a nervous freeze.
“No no no!, don’t do that!” A tall man from the spectators stepped out, romantically grabbing Sarah by the waist “let’s finish this dance”, he added, leading her away in the flash of light, just before my eyes.
I blinked again in disbelief as my smile faded— and there went my company.
“Oh lord, I’m going to kill her when we get home”, I cursed in disappointment.
My energized demeanor faded into thin air.
I took a seat on the stool by the bar, “one glass… fine wine please”, I ordered the bar tender with a forced smile.
I turned on my phone to keep me company, my only resort.
“Here you go”.
I smiled, as I received it.
What do I even do on my phone now, I can’t concentrate here, I’m even nervous.
I swiped right, and left, and up and down.
With a loud sigh, I gave up, loneliness hugging me like my lover.
Just as I began brainstorming ideas to save me from boredom tonight, a knight in shiny armor came through for me.
His eyes locking in a seductive gaze with mine like a magnet as he walked directly to me in a slow and precise movement, like a model on a runway— work of art.
“Hi”, he greeted me with a deep sedative voice calm and washed with honey.
I’d like to CLAIM the stool beside you, is it… VACANT?” he asked, sensationally with the voice of a gentleman.
I blinked, how could I refuse? It’s just what I was wishing for, how could I sit alone in such a filled place, I’d look… heartbroken.
“Yes sure”, I replied with a smile.
He sat.
His eyes observing me like an army work.
“I saw you and your friend light up the club from nearby”, he hinted, pointing to the far corner of the room, I couldn’t place if his accent was British or French right now.
“Wooo… near indeed”, I chuckled, ignoring the eyes of a few men fixed directly at us.
I was with this man now, and there was a little bit of safety and assurance.
Maybe.
“I’m Gold, a VERY dangerous man”, I could smell the danger in his voice as he spat the words with a strong French accent.
Immediately my eyes darted around the room searching for Sarah.
“I hope she is safe”, I prayed silently.
“A… And… I’m Anna…”, I replied, adjusting my posture.
“AND I LIKE TO PLAY WITH KNIVES”, I smirked as my bulldozer spirit took control immediately.
“Wooo…” he leaned in amused, his golden eyes gleaming in the dim light like his name implies, with that angle I could see a good image of him, his masculinity peeking out of the half-buttoned shirt seductively.
“Let’s go deeper, like… what do you do? Where did you school as you look quite familiar? And… how much do you have right now? You know… I could double it, and lastly… why do you like knives”, he chuckled, his voice echoing and lingering in my mind.
My cheeks flushed red, I threw my face to hide my blushing only to find Sarah that I was worried about the celebrity of a table, both ladies and gentlemen listened keenly as she spoke.
I couldn’t tell what she was talking about, but surely it’s something informal and funny to make those people laugh so much and disregard their pride.
She was thriving and here I was… surviving.
I smiled, proud of how she could mix up with others so easily.
But sadly that Not every has that ability, I mean… look at me. I laughed slightly and turned back to my one and only company.
Was cringe but is all I have.
I turned back to Mr. Gold, “I’m answering none of that Mr. gold, maybe you should put a ring on my finger first then you’ll have the right to know them ”, I replied nonchalantly.
“And maybe you should stick to an accent, I can’t place if you are French, British or even Mexican”.
He started with a mischievous grin, like the devil himself, “well, you don’t know who I am around here, do you?” He asked raising a brow.
I swallowed hard.
a shiver running down my spine, that was very true, I was scared of Sarah’s safety, but right now I’m alone with this man who spelt it to me that he was dangerous while Sarah was sitting on a good humorous table.
I swallowed hard, now it got to my brain, clubs and night parties aren’t for me after all. And I won’t be making this mistake again.
“Yooo… why do you have that look on, I only said you don’t know me, I’m not a cannibal”, Gold joked, laughing like he was intoxicated.
“I guess I have to introduce myself well now then, I’m Gold, a predator, I’m called Mr. money-because I’m money”, he smirked demonically.
“You’ll get to know me with time, I’m just… flattered at how you are not flattered…”, he added sarcastically with a laugh.
“I’m just a young lady in this city, looking for peace”, I replied sadly, my voice almost lost in the blasting noise.
Everyone should just leave me alone, the thing I desire most looks too simple, but I just can’t have it.
“What is the matter mi señorita?”, he asked, his calm and proud attitude changing to ultimate concern.
It felt true, I looked up to his face as he leaned in closer, those eyes… looked honest.
My head fell again in sadness, a tear burning to break free in my eye.
