CHAPTER FOURTEEN: My Second Plan wasn't so Perfect

CHAPTER FOURTEEN: My Second Plan wasn't so Perfect.

ELENA'S POV

My mood was completely sour after Damien took the ring from me. I knew it wasn't a real ring but it still felt nice to be proposed to. I knew I wasn't supposed to see him as anything more than a revenge partner but that wasn't the case anymore.

When he was close to death, I prayed to everything out there that he made it out alive. I loved it when he acted all sweet and lovely with me in public. I loved the feeling of him getting worried about me.

But it was all a joke. We were just contract partners that had one main goal and that was to get revenge for Lucas and put his killers in prison. My hand unconsciously touched my left ring finger only for me to realize that it was no longer there.

“Who cares anyway? He can take his damn ring away, as long as I get my revenue, I'll get out of his life for good.” I mumbled to myself as I lay on the bed with a slight pout on my face.

Everything was going perfectly well… Why did his attitude suddenly change towards me? Was it because Adrian nearly killed him because of me?

I wished that I had someone to talk to. Taking on a new face and becoming the wife of the richest billionaire that everyone wanted meant that I had no friends to talk to. All the ladies out there wanted me dead so that they could get a taste of my husband.

“If only y'all knew how devious he was,” I muttered as I closed my eyes to try to fall asleep. I suddenly remembered the deal I had made with Charlotte a week ago and I shot out of bed immediately.

I had totally forgotten about it!

I opened my laptop, and just as I had expected, there were several messages from Charlotte pleading that there had been a mistake in the drafting of the contract.

I simply replied with a simple message that I sent as a reply to her that read:

“Good day, Miss Charlotte. You have officially given me 80% of your company's shares, which means I am now your biggest shareholder, and my rights in your company are now higher than yours. I'll be at your office tomorrow to discuss the company transfer. Have a great day.”

I punched the air in glee as I placed the laptop on the table and then laid back on the bed. Everything was finally going according to plan. Getting control of my company will give me the upper hand and it'll be easier to crush Adrian and Charlotte.

I couldn't sit still; I had to start preparing on how to regain the company back from them, so I got dressed and left the house without letting Damien know. I wanted to surprise him.

I headed to his company, where I worked as his personal assistant, and I locked all the important documents and files of the contract in Damien's computer. I wanted to see the look on his face when he found out what I did.

Would he be proud of me?

I sat on his chair and leaned back as I gazed at the scenery outside the window. Everything was finally falling into place. I was another step ahead of my enemies and it gave me a feeling of joy and excitement.

Adrian was in jail; Charlotte was busy begging for me to return the company shares, and their misery made me feel like I was on cloud nine. It was intoxicating.

What made it all better was that they had no idea who had bought out the company's shares, and that was the thrill of it! They were hopeless and helpless while also completely at my mercy.

Finally, what I had waited for for so long was finally mine again. I had waited ten years for this moment.

And now that the second step of my revenge was outlined perfectly and coming to reality, the satisfaction it brought me was almost overwhelming and exciting.

Those two had taken everything from me once by framing me, but now, the new me was returning the favor to them and enjoying their torture piece by piece.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, pulling me out of my thoughts, and I stood up from the chair.

"Come in," I said softly as I stepped closer to the window and a man in a black suit stepped in, his expression blank and unreadable.

"Mrs. Elena, we have a sudden problem." Carl, Damien's secretary, said, and my brows creased into a frown at his words.

"What problem?" I asked and he hesitated for a moment, as if he was not sure of how to explain what had happened.

"Regarding the 80% shares you bought from Charlotte and Adrian… well… they fought back." He replied and I froze instantly. What did he mean by they fought back?

"Explain it to me better."

"They started selling off portions of the company to their competitors and somehow it gave them the capital that they needed, and… somehow they were able to buy back the majority of their shares. They have regained full ownership of the company." He explained and my eyes widened in shock as I stumbled backward, his words making my head spin.

"What did you just say? How did they do that?" I asked in shock as I tried to get a grasp of a solution but my brain had gone blank.

"You told me about this transaction last week but due to Damien's absence, I had no time to work on it because I was busy with the company. I didn’t know that they’d act so quickly. The connections they had helped them secure the funds, and now…”

I didn’t hear the rest of his words because my mind was spinning wildly. None of this was supposed to happen.

I had planned everything perfectly well. I had struck when it was hot but how did they turn the tables so fast?

How?
