CHAPTER THIRTEEN: Getting Childish and Immature for Love

CHAPTER THIRTEEN: Getting Childish and Immature for Love

DAMIEN'S POV

I was boiling with rage as I stared at the laptop screen in horror. What did she use such a huge amount of money for? I had given her access to my card but that was just for emergencies and whenever she needed something urgently.

But this? This should be considered as theft! Hundred of thousands of dollars gone just like that!

I got up from my seat, and the pain that seared through me threatened to take away my senses but I ignored it. My blood boiled in anger as I left my study and headed for her room before banging on the door.

“Elena!” I shouted the moment I got to the front of her room and she was out in a second, a look of worry and concern on her face as she approached me.

“What’s wrong? Where does it hurt?” She asked in worry as she tried to touch my arm but I swatted her hand away and held up my phone to her face.

“Wanna explain why you transferred such a huge amount of money from my account?” I asked, and I saw her eyes widen slightly as she glanced at the transaction before she let out a sigh.

“I had a reason.” She replied before pressing her lips into a thin line and a scoff of disbelief escaped my lips.

“You had a reason? Fine. Let me hear it..” I ordered and she avoided my eyes before crossing her arms as she took a step backward.

“I needed it for something important.” She replied, and my jaw clenched at her simple response. She was testing, and it took every bit of self-control not to lash out at her.

“For what?” I asked with an irritated tone because my patience was already running thin. She hesitated for a while as she glanced up at me before she turned to look away.

“It was for something important, Damien. You'll find out soon enough.” She replied curtly and my hand suddenly grabbed her chin as I made her look at me.

“That is not the answer I'm looking for, Elena. You had no right to spend such crazy amounts without my permission.” I said, my voice dropping to a very low and dangerous tone and I could see her clench her jaw at my words.

“It’s my money too, isn’t it? Whatever was yours also became mine the moment we signed that contract, did you forget that? Your money is also my money, isn't it?” She retorted and my grip on her chin tightened as I took a step forward.

“No. My money is not yours. You're not my real wife, remember? This is all a business deal, nothing more, nothing less. My business, my life’s work, everything belongs to me. And you have no right to use them anyhow. I'm beginning to realize my mistakes now.” I said in a flash of anger, and her expression changed into a dark one; it was unreadable.

“Your mistakes? The mistake is probably you trusting me right? You should have never asked me to marry you, Damien. All I wanted was revenge but you were the one who decided to bound me by your damn contract. Now you're complaining like a damn coward.” She said defiantly and my eyes narrowed at her words.

I was about to lash out at her again, but I hesitated. Elena wasn't one to spend money on unnecessary things unless it was very important. Since we got married, she has never used the card until today.

“Tell me, Elena, what did you use the money for? Who did you transfer the money to?”I asked again, my voice calmer than before as my grip on his chin loosened and she glanced up at me with an indifference I couldn't fathom.

“I told you, you'll find out soon. You either be patient or be patient. You have no choice.” She replied and I let out a sigh as I let her go.

“Why do you have a problem with me sending that amount of money when you literally spent a hundred million dollars on this ring?” She asked as she stretched her hand towards me and I stiffened at her question.

On a normal day, if I wasn't mad at her, I would never be mad at her for spending my money. However, this anger in me was suddenly making me act childish and immature and it was driving me insane.

“Hand me the ring, I'll sell it to get my money back,” I said, even though I didn't mean it, and I could see the hurt that flashed across her face as she looked up at me.

She then took off the ring and placed it on my hand before she stormed back into the room and shut the door.

Yep, I was definitely acting childish and immature and it was getting out of hand.

I inspected the ring as I returned to my study and sat down behind my desk. I had bought that ring to flaunt my love for her in front of everyone but… me getting on my knees to ask her to marry me wasn't a joke.

It was a real proposal but I knew that she was oblivious to it because she was so focused on getting her revenge.

Lucas was my brother, and I wanted revenge for him, but she was too impatient. If only she can be patient… After living with her for months, I realized that she couldn't have killed Lucas on her own.

Lucas was strong and he wouldn't let himself be killed by such a young girl. And the testimonies against her were so off-point. Lucas would never sexually harass anyone because he's always vowed to protect ladies from such men.

Putting all these points together, I knew that Elena was innocent.

I glanced at the laptop screen as I tried to think of what she was up to this time. Her ways of revenge were quick and sharp but if she wasn't careful, it could backfire at her in an instant.

My eyes caught sight of the name of the receiver and my brain suddenly froze in shock. What the fuck was she up to?

Why did she send such a huge amount of money to Charlotte and Adrian?
