Chapter 41 JEEZ!

Chapter 41 JEEZ!

LILIAN POV
I woke up with a long, lazy yawn, stretching instinctively as if my body hadn’t spent the night fighting urges and bad decisions. My eyes were still half-closed when I blinked them open—slow, unfocused, then I saw a funny looking shadow and nearly screamed my soul out of my body.
“JESUS—”
The sound ripped out of me as I flung the nearest pillow with full force.
It hit Jonah square in the face and he barely flinched.
“What the hell, Lilian?” he laughed, catching the pillow before it slid down his chest.
I clutched my blanket to my chin, heart hammering so hard I could actually hear it in my ears. “Are you INSANE?” I yelled. “If you want to act in a horror movie, there’s a whole damn theater for that. You gave me a heart attack!”
Jonah smirked, totally unbothered, leaning against my bedpost like he hadn’t just hovered over me like a sleep-paralysis demon. “So my face ain’t cute enough to wake up to in the morning?”
I scoffed and shoved the pillow back at him. “Not even close. Seriously, don’t try that shit again. Wake me up like a normal human being. Say my name. Shake me. Don’t just stand there and stare.”
He shrugged and plopped himself down on the edge of my bed, stretching his arms over his head. “Relax. You’re dramatic.”
I narrowed my eyes at him. “Says the guy who almost got murdered by a pillow.”
Then something clicked.
“…Wait,” I said, sitting up properly. “Didn’t you have a runny stomach yesterday? You were literally dying on the couch, when I got back from work.”
Jonah waved it off. “Yeah. I’m fine now.”
“That’s it?” I pressed. “No groaning? No food poisoning shit?”
“Nope.”
“That’s uspicious,” I muttered.
“So,” he continued casually, “ did the boss ask about me yesterday?”
I froze not physically, just mentally cursing myself, that was the first thing I should have said.
“Yeah,” I admitted. “He did.”
“And?”
I sighed. “I told him you had a runny stomach.”
Jonah snorted and I continued. “First thing he asked was if you went partying, and I said?”
I stared at him. “…Yes.”
“No hard feeling, I mean i did,” he said proudly.
I groaned, rubbing my face. “You are exhausting.”
He grinned wider. “You love me.”
“That’s  starting to be debatable.”
I tilted my head, eyes narrowing playfully. “So why are you in my room, huh? You sleepwalk now? Or were you dreaming about coffee cups attacking you again?”
He opened my mouth to snap back to paused like he just remembered something.
“Oh,” he said, standing abruptly. “Right. That.”
I looked up at Jonah like he has gone nuts. “That what?”
He swallowed and said. “Miss. Vale is in our house.”
The silence that followed was loud.
My body reacted before my brain even caught up. I shot fully upright, whisper-shouting in a panic. “WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN MISS. VALE IS HERE?”
Jonah winced slightly. “Lower your voice.”
“You just sat here..” I jabbed a finger at him, “..acting like nothing was wrong while that woman is downstairs?”
He shrugged. “She said something about… training.”
I pressed my fingers to my forehead, rubbing hard. “Lord help me.”
Seraphine is seriously not going to be the end of me.
And the worst part?
Jonah had absolutely no clue.
Jonah stood, stretching again, completely relaxed. “Try to watch the drool next time.”
“What..?”
I touched the side of my mouth instinctively.
Damn it.
There was drool.
He smirked. “While I go down and make her wait.”
Before I could stop him, he walked out, tossing, “Take your time, Sleeping Beauty.”
I scrambled out of bed and took a fast shower with ice-cold water. Clothes thrown on without much thought—shorts, a top, hair tied up. I barely looked at myself before heading downstairs.
And there she was,Seraphine.
She was sitting relaxed. Cross-legged. Like she owned the damn house.
My jaw clenched as I walked closer. “You know I have work today, yeah?”
She glanced up lazily. “Good day to you too.”
I waved my hands in frustration. “Hello, you didn’t even call and you know clearly well that Jonah doesn't know that…!”
Before I could finish, I heard footsteps and paused but Jonah being a smart ass asked.
“That I don’t know what?”
Jonah’s voice cut in casually.
I stiffened and scratched the back of my neck. “I.. uh, I was just telling her you didn’t know I was planning on joining a… training.”
Jonah stared at me like I’d lost my mind. “Training for what exactly? Are you going to war?”
I opened my mouth and closed it back.
He rolled his eyes. “Whatever.”
And with that, he walked off into his room and shut the door.
There was silence again.
Seraphine spoke softly beside me. “He doesn’t know?”
I shot her a glare like she hasn't made me just lie. “He doesn’t know what?”
She shrugged lightly. “That I’m a vampire.”
My temper snapped and I lost it but made sure to whisper yell.
“Of course he doesn’t know,” I hissed. “And I’m surprised your ass is even here right now. You didn’t warn me, didn’t text, didn’t call, just got your black jacket ready and barged in !.”
She leaned forward, eyes hardening. “You need training.”
“I need peace,” I snapped back. “I’m not practicing anything to fight a bunch of elders and hunters. This is insane. This is annoying.”
She stood up and stepped closer to me while dropping her voice like a blade.
“Tell that to the silver bullet or knife when it pierces into you.”
