Chapter Sixty-seven
Chapter Sixty-seven
Harry and I got into his car, then we continued to the house of the tailors and dressmakers that he hired to make our wedding attire. It took us at least 30 minutes to get there. I remembered him taking my measurements a few weeks ago and my preferences.
I didn't really have any specific liking for what dress I wanted to wear, so I told him that I wanted to look like a princess, like Cinderella. I saw him suppressing his laughter. I know I have all these childlike dreams. I'm just trying to heal my inner child, the one that had experienced a lot of cruelties and abuse.
A fifty-something-year-old woman, who is the head tailor, showed us the clothes they have made. "They are almost done, and we only need to add the outer designs," she said. "It'll take us a few days to finish them."
"Woah..." I said in admiration. Looking at the wedding dress makes me wonder how I'd look while wearing it and walking down the aisle. "This dress is so beautiful."
"I'm glad you like it," Harry said, his hand on my shoulder. "You'll look like a princess with that dress."
I blushed. "Please don't embarrass me, Harry."
"I'm not. I'm just being honest. You said you want to look like a princess; that's what I told them, and of course, I'll be your prince," he said.
The old woman just smiled while looking at us. "We'll deliver these attires to your house once they are done," she said.
"Um. Thank you so much, ma'am," Harry said. "You and everyone who made these are very welcome to attend our wedding. We'll send you a proper invitation including the address of the venue. Please don't hesitate to come."
"We will," the old woman assured with a sweet smile on her face. She accompanied us to the door and waved her hand as she watched us get into the car.
Harry brought me next to the bar where our wedding would be held. It was a fancy place. Bigger than what I had expected. There's a wide ballroom with chandeliers on the ceiling, rows of pews you'll directly see from the entrance, and areas where drinks and food can be served and sold on the sides.
I've never been to a place like this before. No wonder why it took them quite some time to build this. I marveled around while Harry had a talk with his employees. I can imagine myself walking down the aisle while Harry's waiting for me at the altar. There'll be a lot of people around, and I'll try my best not to stumble, but my eyes will be focused on him, like we're the only ones around.
"Do you like it?" Harry asked, waking me up from my reverie.
"Yeah, yeah, I love it," I said. "I mean, this place is wonderful."
"I'm glad to hear that. I've already talked to my employees. There are only a few things left to be done, such as the wall designs. I know you're already tired, but we still have a lot of things to do, like going to the cake house, sending invitations, and most of all, choosing the priest who'll wed us."
"And the flowers," I added.
"Yeah. I'm sure we'll get very busy these days," he said.
Time flew by so fast. Harry and I had been very busy from Christmas to New Year. We are both so exhausted every time we get home, but it's a fulfilled kind of exhaustion.
"Finally," Harry sighed as he sat down on the couch. "I thought it'd be a little bit difficult to do all these things on holiday. I kind of feel guilty that we've caused a lot of inconvenience to others."
"You're right, but it's not your fault, Harry," I said, sitting down beside him. I know I'm the reason why he's doing this, because he wants us to get married as soon as possible so that my father can attend our wedding. "I should be the one to feel guilty."
"No, you don't have to feel that way, darling. I'm glad that those people are so kind and didn't really mind if we caused them an inconvenience," he said.
"Yeah. Everyone's so kind and understanding."
Harry leaned toward me. He wiped the hair out of my face. "I can't wait for our honeymoon," he whispered and brought his mouth to mine.
"Harry, stop..." I moaned, but he continued kissing me like a hungry lion. He pinned me down on the couch and pressed his body against mine, rubbing until we were both warm.
He stopped kissing and looked down into my eyes. Every time I see those cerulean blue eyes, I remember the first time we met, at Sir Simeon's bar, and the way he'd look at me. Now I understand. Perhaps he liked me the moment we met and became interested to get to know me more, aside from that burning passion that he wanted to share.
His gaze travelled down to my lips, neck, and breasts. "Don't tell me you don't like it..." he said.
"You know I do," I said, my hands on his neck. "But we can't do it. Our child will get hurt."
"Right." A sigh left his mouth. "Can I kiss you instead?"
"Yeah, sure."
Harry kissed me hard again. That kind of kiss that tells me how much he wants me, how much he wants to spend the rest of his life with me, and how much he can give up just to hold me. I've never expected once in my life to experience such a kind of love. I feel so lucky to have him.
"Now then." He pulled me close. "I think we should go to bed."
Harry carried me to our bedroom. He complained that I got a lot heavier. "Of course I do; I'm pregnant, Harry," I said, touching his nose.
"Right. It must be difficult for you to carry this child," he said, putting me down on the bed. He lay down beside me. "I feel guilty for letting you do this alone."
"Oh come on, don't say such a thing. We both like what we did. There's nothing to be sorry about," I said.
"Really?" He looked down on me. "You're such an angel."
"I know."
Harry kissed the crown of my head before lying down beside me. He cuddled me, making me feel warm in this cold weather. He's the only one who can make me feel this way: warm, comfortable, and safe.
