Chapter 113 - Unreject Me

Natasha’s pov

Shit. In the excitement, I left the main door unlocked.

It was at that moment that I realised I had gotten myself into deep trouble. Chad wasn’t the guy I thought he was. The excitement I previously felt vanished, and it was replaced with angst. If Chad didn’t want to get intimate with me, why did he strip me naked? Was it all part of his pretence?

I glanced at the entrance to the room. It was opened a little, and the scent of another stranger diffused into the air. I knew that there was someone else in the living room. I always heard about the dangers of inviting strangers into your place, but I didn’t care about them. Being a werewolf, I was stronger than most of the males I brought back to my flame. However, that one wolf I met after such a long time ended up luring me into a trap, which I gladly walked into. I regretted getting too excited about getting into bed with Chad. Perhaps if I had taken the time to lock the door, they wouldn’t have been able to enter my flat.

I felt stupid for believing everything he told me. I started to think that everything he said was probably a lie. Perhaps the Ferrari, the suit, and the expensive restaurant were all part of his plan. Maybe the tale he told me about escaping his pack was also a fib. He probably wasn’t an athlete. I was a fool to hang on to every word he said.

What I couldn’t fathom was why he would do this to me. We barely knew each other. Nonetheless, it wasn’t the time to blame him for anything or demand answers. I knew better than to piss him off, as he was the one in control. My gaze drifted desperately between Chad and the door. I knew begging with him would be a waste of time and energy, but I couldn’t help it.

“Chad, what is going on? Who is outside?” He said nothing, and the silence was unnerving. “Why are you doing this? What did I do? I don’t understand.”

The way he stared petrified me. It was almost as though the kind, thoughtful man who dined with me a few hours ago was no longer there. He was replaced by someone cold, distant, and cruel. I squirmed on the bed, twisting my wrists, wishing I could somehow break free. But it was useless.

I started to hyperventilate. “Release me, please, Chad.”

My pleas fell on deaf ears. All he did was stare blankly at me, his countenance frozen in an icy-cold expression. Whoever was in the living room seemed to listen to my pathetic whimpers. They were probably enjoying it. I tried to think of why anyone would target me. I didn’t bother anyone. I was living a quiet life away from all the wolves. What satisfaction would they get by torturing me? It didn’t make any sense. Was it a mistake?

Although I never worked with warriors, I knew that they wouldn't target just a random wolf. Perhaps all of this wasn’t a mistake. Maybe someone I knew sent them to track me among the humans. Could it be Theo? Or Kaizen? I swallowed the lump in my throat and tried to speak. I was too scared to care about how pathetic I sounded. Getting out while I was still alive was all I wanted.

“Chad. Let me go, please. I will leave this city and never return. I will give you all the money I have. Just… just let me go. I will not bother anyone, I promise.”

Whoever was in the living room started to walk towards the door. Perhaps they were done listening to me and wanted to reveal themselves. The sound of the footsteps got louder. With each click of the heel, my heart’s palpitations increased. Although I wasn’t familiar with the scent, I knew that was a wolf and not a human.

Tears of fear rolled out of my eyes. Not knowing what to expect was worse than being actually chastised.

“Who is there?” I called loudly. Chad didn’t answer any of my questions anyway. I expected to see a female because of the heels, but that didn’t make it any less alarming. She-wolf warriors were ruthless.

The door opened, and a woman I absolutely loathed stood at the door. Chad averted his attention towards the woman and stood up, bowing his head slightly. Damn it, was he submitting to that bitch? Fuck! Because of the circumstances, I felt more fear than hate upon seeing her.

“You! I should have known!”

She chuckled and looked at Chad, completely ignoring me.

“Good work, Chad. I thought you were going down a rabbit hole at first.”

He sighed. “I almost did, Luna. Training to stay focused helped a lot.”

Luna? Was he from Wood Stone? I kept my thoughts to myself and watched them interact in silence.

She looked at me. “Well, thank you. You did it despite your reluctance to take on the task. You were the only unmated wolf on the team. That’s the reason we wanted you to do it.”

He sighed. “I understand, Luna, but I don’t want to remain unmated anymore. I think I should find a mate as soon as possible.”

She chuckled.

“Luna? Are you from Wood Stone? I thought you fled your pack after setting your house on fire.”

The frustration made me shout. With Nikita here, I wouldn’t be able to escape. At least before they took me away, I wanted to know the truth. If Chad was from Wood Stone, why didn’t we cross paths before?

“You lied, didn’t you?”

Clicking her tongue, she walked towards me and placed a finger on her lips. “Shh. Screaming won’t help.” Her eyes travelled towards the adult toys I had laid out on the table and picked up a gag. “Hmm. You have got quite a collection there. I bet this keeps you from screaming.”

I clenched my jaws shut, but she didn’t seem to care. She just laughed. “Oh, I don’t mind waiting. I have all the time in the whole world.” She looked at my bare body and rolled her eyes as she started to cover my body with the sheets. “Has it been that long since you got laid? Why were you so desperate? I can’t let them see you like this. I mean, they deserve better, don’t they? Who needs an eyesore?”

I knew she was mocking me, but who was she talking about? Were there more of them waiting for me? Was it Theo or Kaizen? I winced hard, knowing that it was the end for me. I had pursued a life in the human world hoping to find peace, but chaos had a way of finding its way back to me.

“And to answer your question, no, Chad isn’t from our pack. He is from the Howlers. He is one of the three trackers who helped us find you here. And yes, the tale he narrated was a made-up one. I must laud him on that one.” Her gaze drifted towards Chad. "Chad, have you ever thought about writing a story? Are you interested in story-telling? Maybe just for fun?”

He shrugged. “My work in the military takes up most of my time now, Luna. I doubt I would find time for that.”

“Of course. Your alpha will be proud of you and your team. Can you ask him to enter now? She looks presentable now… I think.”

Chad left the room. It could only be either Kaizen or Theodore. I sneered. It wasn’t like they hadn’t seen me naked.

“Well, if it's your mate, there isn’t an inch he hasn’t seen on this body. And let me tell you, he enjoyed every second of it.”

I hoped to get under her skin, but I failed miserably. She just laughed. “Maybe he hated every bit of it. That’s why he wouldn’t even cast a second glance at you now.”

I rolled my eyes, trying to keep my anger under control. When Theodore walked through the door, followed by two other strangers, I sneered. “Why can’t I smell your miserable scents? Huh? What sorcery have you cast on my sense of smell?”

He scoffed. Instead of answering my questions, he looked around, as though he were looking for something. A frown creased his forehead. I guess he couldn’t find whatever he was looking for. I stayed silent until his gaze found mine.

“Where is he?” he demanded.

“Who?”

“The baby! Where is my nephew?”

I blinked. His nephew? How did he… did they go through with the test?

“How did you… did you do that fucking test without my consent?”

He lunged at me, striding quickly, and strangled me. I could barely breathe when he squeezed my throat. His rage was seeping into his grasp, and I felt positive that I was going to lose my life. My life flashed before my eyes when suddenly he loosened his grip.

“You have the nerve to talk about consent. You took my nephew away from our lives. You helped Asher attack Kaizen. You even forged his death certificate so you could lure the humans into your trap, but thank God you failed at that. Consent, laws, being a good person… these things mean nothing to you. You don’t get to pretend you care, because we fucking know you don’t give two flying fucks.”

My heart rate escalated when he snarled into my face. Although I no longer bowed to him as my leader, he was still an Alpha, and his aura had a weird effect on my soul.

“Now just tell me where my nephew is. Or else I will squeeze the life out of you and enjoy every freaking second of it.”

I knew he meant what he said. I opened my mouth to speak. Despite not knowing the horrors that awaited me, I didn’t want to die. At least not like that.

“I… I…”

“Stop squeezing her throat, Theo. Maybe she is trying to talk.”

Theo sucked a deep breath in and slowly stepped away from the bed. I took deep breaths a couple of times.

“Where is the baby? I see you have gotten rid of all his belongings. I don’t suppose you killed him, did you?” Nikita asked me.

I shook my head. “I gave him up… I left him at an orphanage’s doorstep.”

Nikita’s face contorted in a sneer.

“Bitch. I wish you left him in the pack. I wouldn’t have come here to find you,” Theo growled.

My lips parted. Perhaps I should have done that, but back then, I was hoping that I would be able to get my hands on Asher’s business.

“If I lead you to him, would you let me live in peace?” I asked him, hopefully.

“I will leave you alone if you give up all your rights as his parent,” he said.

I fervently nodded my head. “Yes, yes! Anything you say. I will do anything!”

I quickly signed the papers he gave me. I guess they arrived prepared for everything. When he got what he wanted, he walked away, looking satisfied.

“Now, can you let me go? Please? I will lead you to the orphanage. Chad has the key.”

Nikita snickered as she picked up something from the fanny pack on her waist. My eyes widened. It was an injection.

“Our trackers can do that, and I am not done with you yet. You helped Asher plan the attack against Kaizen. Do you think we would let it go that easily?”

My heart raced. “No! Help!”

I screamed, hoping that my neighbours would hear my screams, but Nikita was ready for that. She plunged the gag into my mouth, making it impossible for me to yell.

“I was waiting for that. Chad, Nick, hold her down. I need her to lie still.”

I struggled hard, but against two trained wolves, I was nothing. Nikita injected that thing, and soon I was fighting against the drowsiness that kept overpowering my senses.

“See you soon at Wood Stone,” she said, just as my eyes closed shut.
