Chapter 112 - Unreject Me
Natasha’s pov
I eagerly looked forward to meeting him during our break. It had been so long since I had a proper conversation with a wolf. I just knew talking to someone from my territory would hit differently. As we didn’t get a long break, we went to a nearby café and ordered a sandwich and a frappe. The café I usually found boring was suddenly not that bad. Perhaps it was because I was looking forward to spending this time with Chad.
“So, tell me. What are you doing here? Wolves tend to stick to the territory.” I asked him while we waited for the waiter to bring us coffee.
He snickered. “I can ask the same question of you, pretty lady.”
“Ah, I asked you first,” I said, smiling at him.
He let out a chuckle. “Okay. I will tell, but once I am done, you should tell me why you are here.”
I shrugged. “Okay. So what brought you here? And for how long have you been in the city? This is the first time I have come across someone like you here.” I asked him, making sure I avoided calling the human city monotonous because I saw the waiter approaching us from my peripheral vision.
“Well,” he paused as the waiter placed our food and drinks on the table. We gestured to the waiter that everything was perfect. To speak about our packs and reasons to move, we needed privacy.
“It was my family. They are all warriors, and once I reached the age, they expected me to join the army. I didn’t want that. Growing up, I was very passionate about sports. I loved soccer and enjoyed most of the sports I played with my friends. But my parents wanted me to leave all of that and pursue a career in the military. I didn’t agree. I even protested and tried to make them understand that this is my passion, but no one listened to me.”
“So you ran away?” I asked him. His reason for leaving the wolf's territory was so mild when compared to mine.
“Nah. I wouldn’t have left if they hadn’t signed me up to join the army without my knowledge. When I found out, it was too late. In our pack, once you get shortlisted, you don’t have a choice but to come to the training. So I ran, but not before setting the house on fire,” he said, a smirk curling on his lips.
Shocked, I almost dropped the sandwich. “What?”
“Well, I lived alone. I had recently moved to a new home, thinking it would help me get away from all the drama my family was causing. But that didn’t help, so the night before the training began, I killed a deer, placed it on my bed, and lit the whole house on fire before fleeing from my pack. I cut ties with everyone in the pack and ran for my life. I ended up here. These humans liked my stamina, and I quickly found a soccer team that was willing to let me try out. I haven’t looked back ever since that day. Yeah, life’s hard here, but I am happy. As for my wolf, I go for midnight runs and return home before dawn. All is good,” he said, studying my face with his pretty hazel eyes.
Awestruck, I stared at him for a while. Well, his story wasn’t too monotonous. That he started a fire just to mislead his family was hilarious. I wouldn’t have thought about that.
“That was over fifteen years ago. I think everyone must have moved on by now. To avoid them finding me, I moved from city to city. I have travelled the world, but now I am back where I started.”
“Wow. Fifteen years? How old are you?” I asked him, staring at him in disbelief. He looked so good and fit, but then he was a wolf and an athlete.
“I am in my late thirties. Not too old even for a human,” he said, snickering.
I smirked. “Not old at all. Do you still play soccer? Why are you working in an office?”
“Eh, human laws. They think a human is too old to play tournaments once they hit a certain age. I still play, but not professionally. I still have the same stamina, but I don’t want to be in the spotlight anymore. They might get suspicious. Even now, some of them call me a vampire because I don’t age much.” He laughed. “I have enough money saved. But doing nothing would bore me to death, so I thought I would work a little, then maybe start a business.”
I tried to hide the smile that was curling on my lips. I liked the way he was thinking and liked it even more that he had money saved. Perhaps hope wasn’t lost. I still had the chance to lead the life I wanted.
“Now it’s your turn. What are you doing in this world of mortals?” he asked me, interrupting my thoughts.
I sighed. “Well, my pack suspected that I was a traitor. They thought I leaked some information to someone who attacked the Alpha. I swear I didn’t, but I knew the evidence points towards me. So I fled. You know how they are. They will kill every traitor. I feared not getting a fair trial.”
He scoffed. “That is exactly what I hate about that system. At least I found someone who I can agree with. I am glad I moved back here. It is about time I found a mate,” he cast a glance at me. “Maybe this is fate’s way of leading me to the woman who would become my mate for life—if you don’t object, that is. And, of course, I am willing to take things slow if that’s what you want.”
I tilted my head, scruitnising his face. He wasn’t an Alpha, but I liked him. If I wanted to commit for life was unknown, but I sure wanted to get him into bed. Taking things slow wasn’t what I had in mind.
“I don’t mind,” I said. “We can meet up at my place tonight. I live alone…” Our gazes met. I cleared my throat. “I mean. We can go on a date.”
His gaze lingered on me for a while before his lips slowly curled into a sly grin.
“Yeah. Does tonight sound good to you?” he asked.
“Uh, huh. Tonight is great. Pick me up?”
“Sure. Send me your address. I’ll be there at nine.”
I smiled to myself as I texted him the address. He wanted to pick me up at nine. That gave me enough time to dress up properly for him. Or perhaps dress in such a way he would want to rip the clothes off my body.
I couldn’t wait.

I didn’t own a lot of fancy clothes, but there was a pretty off-shoulder black top and a leopard-printed pencil skirt I loved. The outfit hugged my figure perfectly and revealed enough of my cleavage to tease his eyes.
When someone knocked on my door, I knew it was him.
“You look beautiful, Nat,” he said, giving me a bouquet of red roses.
I couldn’t help grinning from ear to ear. He was so thoughtful.
“Why, thank you. You look handsome in your suit,” I said, glancing at my attire. I suddenly started to wonder if I was underdressed, but when he picked my hand to kiss the back of it, I swallowed all the negative thoughts and offered a smile. He thought I looked good, right?
What I didn’t expect was him to arrive in a fancy Ferrari to take me out. My jaw dropped when he opened the door for me. Was Chad rich? When he said that he had some money saved, I didn’t think he had a lot of it already. Either way, he surely was a gentleman with a lot of manners.
I remained silent and relished the show of chivalry. However, when he drove to a five-star restaurant, I was convinced that he had enough money to keep me happy. He couldn’t have afforded an expensive suit, a Ferrari, and a fancy dinner if he wasn’t wealthy. When he got out of the car to open the door for me, I took a quick look at what I was wearing. I was definitely underdressed, but I was a very fortunate girl. Chad once mentioned that it was time for him to settle down. All I had to do was make sure he was completely absorbed in me and incapable of even considering looking at another woman.

He escorted me to my door. I happily let him follow me, determined to show him how well I could treat him in bed. I was determined to show him that no girl could love him like I did. I took my keys from my clutch and opened the door.
“I had fun. I hope you also enjoyed the date,” he said, standing by the door.
I glanced at him over my shoulder. Of course, he was a gentleman and wouldn’t follow me inside unless I ushered him in.
“Yes, I loved it. I am glad to hear that you liked my company,” I said, turning to face him. “Come inside?”
I gave him a hopeful glance. My desire to get intimate with him was more than it was when I first met him in the morning.
He raised an eyebrow, but the tiny grin that twisted his lips didn’t go unnoticed. “Are you sure? I thought ladies don’t want a guy to enter their homes on their first dates.”
I smirked. I stepped closer to him and seductively ran my fingertips over his chest. I made sure that his gaze was fixated on my lips as I slightly bit my lower lip and pulled him closer to me.
“Oh, I am not like those human females. Let me show you how sleeping with a she-wolf really is,” I said, as sensually as I could.
I could have sworn his breathing hitched. “Yeah? Show me.”
He didn’t have to ask me twice. I crashed my lips on his, attacking every inch of his body like a hungry lioness. I rejoiced when he responded with the same fervour. While still entangled in our passion, I pushed the door open and pulled ourselves inside the apartment.
It was dark inside the flat, but because of my night vision, I saw his demeanour. He looked exactly like I imagined—eyes darkened with lust and hungry for passion. I wanted him to tear my clothes off me, which he did as I led him into the bedroom. A mischievous snicker escaped his lips when he saw the setup. Handcuffs, whips, and other adult toys were already laid out on the side table.
“Looks like you have been prepared for this,” he said.
Of course, I was prepared for him. And after how he treated me, I was more than ready to make things more serious. I ripped his shirt, and the buttons went flying.
“Easy, little wolf. Let me do it my way,” he said, grabbing both my hands in one of his and dragging me to the bed.
Waves of excitement coursed through me when he cuffed me to the bed. Usually, it was I who cuffed the man, but this time, I was eager to discover what he would do to me. I thought his eyes clouded, as though he was mind linking another wolf, but I brushed it out of my mind. Who would he mind link? We were in the middle of the human world.
But when he relaxed on the floor once I was secured to the bed, I got confused. I was already aroused, and that alone should drive him nuts, but this man just sat there, staring at me with a blank expression.
“What are you waiting for? Come and get me,” I said.
He said nothing. An eerie silence filled the apartment, and a deep feeling of dread filled my entire being. My heart started to beat faster, and beads of perspiration rolled down my face.
“Chad?” I whispered. The only sound I heard was the sound of my breathing. Something was definitely wrong, but I was too scared to ask anything. My judgement of him was wrong, and I was reluctant to find out what was going to happen.
Who was Chad? I should have done some research. He could be a serial killer.
I gulped. To make things worse, he was a wolf, not a weak human I could easily overpower. My eyes went wide when I heard someone shutting the main door.
