Chapter 477 James Followed Again

Emily was jolted awake by Isabella.

She groggily opened her eyes and saw Isabella sitting by her bed. "Mom, what time is it?"

"Time? It's already 1 PM! Emmy, were you out all night? How can you sleep this long?" Isabella scolded.

At first, she thought Emily was just tired and needed more sleep, but when she saw it was already noon and Emily was still asleep, she got worried and came upstairs to wake her.

Emily stayed silent.

Out all night?

She hadn't been out all night, just talking to James for a bit. But Emily felt that what she did was almost as bad as being out all night.

She stretched and sat up in bed.

Seeing her like this, Isabella continued to complain, "Do you remember the big party on the yacht tonight? If you don't hurry up, you'll be late."

"The party doesn't start until 8 PM, and it's only 1 PM now. How could I possibly be late?"

Isabella tapped her forehead in exasperation. "Look at the news. Everyone else is getting their hair and makeup done and trying on dresses. All the guests for the yacht party are getting ready, and here you are, still sleeping."

"Alright, I'll get up now. Mom, I won't be late for the party tonight. You go ahead and do your thing."

Emily got out of bed barefoot and gently pushed Isabella out of the bedroom.

After freshening up, Emily picked up her phone to check the time. When she pressed the screen and it didn't light up, she realized she had turned it off last night.

When she turned it on, dozens of messages came flooding in. Half were notifications from her carrier that James had called, and the other half were messages from James.

Emily didn't even look at them and deleted them all.

Just as she put her phone down, it rang again. Seeing it was James, she immediately hung up.

James persistently called back, and Emily, annoyed, finally answered, "James, what do you want? Doesn't the Smith Group have enough work for you to handle?"

"Emily, what really happened during the earthquake five years ago? What were you trying to tell me?" James's voice was urgent.

Emily's expression grew serious.

If James had asked her this question so persistently when they were still married, she would have answered. But now, she found it pointless and didn't want to talk about it anymore.

"James, didn't I already tell you? I just mentioned it casually. What more do you want me to say?" Emily laughed. "Do you want me to say that during the earthquake, I was willing to risk my life to save you? James, do you think you're worth that kind of sacrifice?"

With that, Emily hung up the phone.

For some reason, Emily had a feeling that James might have sensed something or remembered something. But whatever it was, the events of five years ago were in the past.

Since it was in the past, it shouldn't be brought up again.

She didn't want to bring it up again.

That was how it should be. She and James should go their separate ways.

Maybe her words were too harsh, because James didn't call back.

Emily smirked, thinking, 'This is for the best.'

Because of this, Emily felt much lighter when she went to the yacht party that evening.

At the port.

A massive cruise ship was docked, illuminated by countless dazzling lights.

The parking lot near the port was filled with luxury cars, and countless beautiful women stepped out, their dresses shimmering with elegance.

Emily's car followed the flow of traffic into the parking lot.

Unlike the others, she wore a simple black cocktail dress and no jewelry.

While the socialites and celebrities walked the red carpet, posing for the media, Emily quietly boarded the yacht unnoticed.

She was here to have fun, not to perform for the media.

Once on the yacht, Emily wandered around. When all the guests had boarded and the yacht set sail, the three-day party began. With no media around, everyone let loose and started to enjoy themselves.

After grabbing a bite to eat and dancing for a bit, Emily stepped out onto the deck to enjoy the night view.

She was happily taking in the scenery when she noticed a figure approaching from behind.

At first, Emily ignored it, but as the person got closer, she realized they were heading straight for her. She turned to look.

Her brows furrowed.

It was James.
