Chapter 105
Chapter 105
Ivonne's POV
Lora came to a halt before I did, my feet stopping their movement as I inhaled sharply. For seconds I stood there, not sure if I was breathing as I slowly observed the scene in front of me.
The two people who were seated closely hadn't noticed our presence or the fact we were ogling them. Tobias held Martha's arm, a white substance which I presumed to be toothpaste causing a relatively large patch on her skin.
Mother was sending them the stink eye, her fingers in a fist at her sides as she observed their positions. She was the first to notice us as and that made her clear her throat to jeer them apart.
It was only seconds but it felt like an hour with me standing there and observing them from the sidelines. Tobias blinked and sat up straight, returning to a respectable posture.
"It'll heal in no time and don't be scared if it scars, it'd just peel of later and your skin would be as clean as it was."
"Oh," Martha murmured, sounding lost as if she was not with us in that moment. I simply lifted a brow at her though she wasn't facing me in that moment.
'Bitch got dazed,' Ria my wolf said in my head as I watched her blank expression. 'Don't worry we understand.'
"I'm hoping everything is well?" I implored, making my presence known as I resumed my walk into the living room, Lora undoubtedly doing same.
"Yes," Martha said in a hurry, blinking in shock at my utterance and presence, as if she had momentarily forgotten I was in the mansion.
"Are you sure?" I quizzed, narrowing my eyes in her path as I approached the couch which sat a few feet away from the staircase. "You appear a bit dazed."
"I guess it's from the pain," she declared, crouching her arm, her face forming an expression of pain as she did so. "No need to worry yourself, I'm all good now."
"You just flinched," I pointed out her little display of dramatics.
"Don't worry Ivonne, I'm good," she murmured in an assuring manner, sending a smile my way.
One I didn't know how to react to for some moments as it held a hint of anger, frustration, jealousy and sincerity. I simply nodded at that gave her a small smile I could muster in return.
Tobias was silent through the conversation Martha and I had. I noticed his stare on me and directed the ends of the smile on my face to him as I turned my body in the direction of the stairs.
"Ivonne," Mother called from behind me, inciting my hand to pause on the stair rail.
I whirled to face her, one leg on the first flight of stairs, the other still in the living room. I sent her a questioning glance and she got up from her spot on the cushion to walk toward me. "A word please."
"Okay," I let out as she came to hold my hand and together we climbed the stairs.
We strolled into Tobias and I's room and she settled comfortably on the bed while I stood waiting for her to speak, deep down I was fuming.
There were many things I wanted to do in that moment, like laughing, screaming, punching the wall and last but not the least, drag Tobias up and give him a piece of my mind while we end up having angry sex later.
Yes I really wanted to do that and I didn't care my mother was sat across from me while I had such dirty and angry thoughts. Heck who am I kidding, if she knew she might have led me on and giving me the go ahead.
"Do you see what's happening Ivonne?" Mother questioned, going straight to the point as always.
"What is happening Mother?" I implored, playing dumb and she hissed, sending me a very hard glare that made me take a visible step backwards.
"Don't act like you are blind Ivonne," she cautioned, tapping her forefinger on her thigh which was covered by the red floor-length puffy armed dress she had on. "Because I for one know I didn't give birth to a blind child, neither will you ever go blind."
"I hear you mother," I bobbed my head, gulping at her no-nonsense tone.
"So now I ask again, do you see what is going on?" She repeated her question for the hundredth time
"Yes I do mother, I do," I answered in an exhale, wanting the conversation to be over with so I could clear my head.
"Good," she declared, eyes pinned on me as it had been since we walked into the room. "So tell me, what do you intend to do about it?"
"What do you want me to do mother?" I quizzed, knowing that hearing from her would be the best thing to do hence she appeared pissed and irritated at the situation more than me.
"I don't know," she lifted her palms in the air, "just do something."
"I too don't know mother and that explains the reason I asked you to," I revealed, folding my arms in front of me.
"Maybe we should think of something then," she murmured, her finger rubbing her jaw.
"Maybe we should," I mimicked in a teasing manner, which made me snort as she fired me another glare.

The week was gradually coming to an end and Friday was upon us. Mother and I hadn't come up with a way to handle Martha and Tobias's closeness and as the days went by, I simply took things as it seemed.
As for Tobias and I we had once again sorted our differences after he had explained nothing was ever going to happen even if I hadn't come in. The time on the clock in my office read 3:03 and I hastily jumped to my feet, muttering a "shit."
"Why didn't Tobias remind me about this?" I asked the quiet room as I circled my desk, grabbing my phone and bag at the same time.
My gaze lingered for a moment on the scattered pieces papers on it, the pain lying on one of the sheets scribbled with words and the files in a corner which were in a pile, slanting as if they would slide and fall at the slightest touch.
"Later," I murmured to myself with a nod and took steps to the door and halted, whirling around to stare at the desk one last time and shook my head in denial at the urge to do something.
"Later, Later," I chanted as I continued on my way, my black heels making clicky noises as they met the marble tiles.
The black chiffon skirt ruffled around and in between my legs as I exited the room and made my to Tobias office. I was dressed stylishly with a red wrap around long-sleeved blouse, the same shade as my heels.
My hair was done in a low ponytail with the edges of my front strands curled after I had done it perfectly with hair wax. My lips coated with red lipstick as I decided to go with a bold makeup to match my classy outfit.
Tobias and I were supposed to meet one of his investors by 5 pm for a fancy dinner. Which was why I was dressed that way. We were meant to leave the pack around 3 pm due to the distance but it appeared it had skipped both our minds.
