Chapter 28 Date with Madonna 1
Chapter 28 Date with Madonna 1
"rrrrrrrr"
Walker opened an eye, squinting at the bright light streaming through the window. He blinked, trying to adjust to the sudden influx of brightness. He woke up because the phone rang.
He is already back in his universe.
"Morning, sleepyhead."
Walker picked his phone off the bedside table, groaning as he sat up.
"You're awake?"
Madonna sounded like she was grinning.
"The kids are asleep. You hungry?"
"Starving," Walker answered.
"I have breakfast for you and your uniform for your date with me today. Open the door now," Madonna said, sounding excited.
Walker swung his legs over the edge of the bed, running a hand through his messy hair. His heart was still pounding from the strange transition—one moment, he had been in Eldoria, fighting for his life alongside Kayla. The next, he was back in his universe, as if none of it had ever happened.
The phone in his hand felt unnervingly real. Madonna’s voice still echoed in his ears.
Was it all a dream?
Shaking off the lingering confusion, he pushed himself up and made his way to the door. As soon as he unlocked it, Madonna stepped inside, carrying a tray of food with a bright, expectant smile.
“Good morning, handsome.” She winked.
Walker stared at her—her dark, wavy hair cascaded down her back, and her brown eyes sparkled with warmth. She looked familiar, yet something about her presence felt… different.
She set the tray down on the table, gesturing to the steaming breakfast. "Eat up. I don’t want my date passing out on me."
Walker hesitated. "Madonna… when did we plan a date?"
She gave him a playful pout. "Don’t tell me you forgot! We talked about it last night. I said we should have a normal day together, just us."
Walker’s mind raced. Last night? But last night, I was in Eldoria… wasn’t I?
His pulse quickened. He sat down and took a deep breath, trying to ground himself. As he reached for the fork, he caught sight of his wrist—there, faint but unmistakable, was a tiny shimmering glow. A symbol.
The same symbol that marked his connection to Kayla.
His heart clenched.
So it wasn’t just a dream.
"Walker?" Madonna's voice softened as she sat beside him, her fingers brushing against his. "You look like you're a million miles away. Are you okay?"
Walker met her gaze. There was love in her eyes, concern—but for the first time, he wondered if she truly knew who he was. If this world was really the one he belonged to.
He forced a smile. "Yeah… I just need a minute."
Walker tries to reality check, he Snaps his fingers but no fire or smoke, he thinks about the hologram screen but didn't work.
"Ok, I'm back to my universe." Walker thinking.
Walker took a slow breath, his fingers curling into a fist. So, that’s it. No magic, no hologram screen. No Kayla.
He was home.
He reached for the breakfast tray Madonna had brought, trying to ground himself in reality. The scent of fresh coffee and buttered toast filled his nose. Real. The warmth of the mug in his hands. Real.
"I'm excited to date with you," Madonna said, leaning close to whisper in his ear. "I missed you so much."
Walker swallowed hard, forcing the words through a tight throat.
"Me too," he whispered back.
"hurry up to eat and take a bath now. My car is outside waiting for you." Madonna kissed his cheek.
Walker nodded, grabbing a slice of bacon.
"Hi, kitten." Madonna's greeting to Salad.
"mew." Salad tail wagging.
He hurries up to eat and then hops in the shower.
As he dressed, he glanced at his reflection in the mirror—the face staring back at him looked unfamiliar. He had never worn anything like this before.
Tight black pants hugged his slim hips, paired with a red button-down shirt, which left the top few buttons undone. He leaned forward to smooth his hair with a comb. It fell past his shoulders, a rich chestnut shade, perfectly framing his face. He had always thought of himself as plain, with a long, narrow nose and dark eyes.
He smiled to himself. Maybe this was how he appeared to others because he was seeing himself through someone else's eyes. Or maybe this was a new version of himself.
He went toward Madonna's car after the finish.
"you make me wait too long." Madonna teased, giving him a quick kiss on the lips.
He blush, trying not to stare at her hot body in the tight dress.
The car sped off, and Walker stared out the window. He watched the scenery flash by, taking in the hustle and bustle of the city.
"First, we should shopping." Madonna pointing to a mall.
"Sure." Walker agreed.
"i think we should buy some clothes for you. You are so skinny, you look like a scarecrow." Madonna teased.
Walker chuckled. "I am a little thin."
Madonna laughed. "okay, maybe a lot thin. But your skin is perfect. You have nothing to worry about."
They drove to the mall, parking in a large garage. They entered the mall, walking side by side. Walker felt lighthearted and energized.
After a few minutes, they stopped in front of a clothing store. The racks inside were filled with all kinds of colorful clothes, and the sales clerk greeted them.
"don't worry I pay for you," Madonna said, flashing a thousand dollar bill.
Walker could hear his jaw drop. "Wow, that's—"
"Not my money," Madonna interrupted. "It's our money." She gave him a wink.
Walker shook his head, stunned. How was he going to walk around the mall with that kind of money?
"we should get you something nice," Madonna said, studying the rack of clothes in front of her.
"yes," he murmured, feeling excited at the prospect of buying new clothes.
She chose a simple white blouse, paired with a pair of blue jeans. Walker tried them on, admiring the way the fabric fit his body.
When he walked out of the dressing room, Madonna's eyes widened.
"wow, that looks great."
Walker stepped back into the fitting room, smiling at himself in the mirror.
"come here." Madonna pulled him closer. "let me see you from another angle."
Walker blush, feeling shy.
Madonna smiles. "you're so handsome. Just like a model."
Her praise made Walker feel special.
"Can I buy these?" he asked, holding up the outfit.
"yes." Madonna handed the clerk the money. "and I'm so hungry. Let's go get something to eat."
They ate lunch at a restaurant near the mall, laughing and enjoying each other's company.
"I'm happy to be here with you." Madonna said, resting her hand on his thigh. "you seem a bit more relaxed."
Walker grinned. "yeah, I am."
"Walker, do you know something?" Madonna asked, gazing at him with concerned eyes.
He paused, unsure how to answer. He didn't want to tell her about his visions. Instead, he gave a vague explanation.
"what's wrong?" he asked,
"I think you are changing, you are confident with women more than we met at campus's cafeteria," Madonna explains.
Walker felt his heart skip a beat. "I guess I am." He sighed, thinking about what she'd said.
"yeah. I can sense it." Madonna smiled. "But I love it, you are strong like the man you become. You not afraid of anything anymore."
Walker took a deep breath, letting Madonna’s words settle over him like a warm embrace. Stronger. More confident. Maybe she was right—he wasn’t the same awkward, unsure guy she had met back in the campus cafeteria. But was that a good thing?
He looked at her, the soft glow of the restaurant lights highlighting her features. She was stunning—her long dark hair cascading over her shoulders, lips curved into a knowing smile, her fingers still tracing small circles on his thigh.
“Do you think I’ve changed that much?” he asked, voice quiet.
Madonna nodded, tilting her head slightly. “I do.”
Walker exhaled, his fingers brushing over his cold water glass. “And… you’re okay with that?”
Madonna let out a soft chuckle. “Okay with it? I love it.” She leaned in closer, her perfume wrapping around him like a delicate spell. “I love this version of you. The one who doesn’t hesitate. The one who looks at me like he’s ready to take on the world.”
Walker swallowed hard. He hadn’t realized how much his time away—wherever away was—had changed him. Maybe it wasn’t just confidence with women. Maybe it was the way he carried himself, the way he thought, the way he felt about himself.
Before, he had always been in the background—content to let others lead, content to be uncertain. But now? He knew what he wanted. He understood what it meant to fight for something.
And right now, Madonna was sitting across from him, looking at him like he was the only man in the world.
