Chapter 44 Susan and Eva Restored
Bryce stared at his father and knew he could not take his threat lightly. I just needed to find a way to protect Angela from Susan's schemes for now.
"Fine, I will give them their job back, but I will punish them for the problem they caused. Two months suspension with no pay," Bryce said, staring at his father.
"Fair enough," Devon said and sat down on the couch. "So who is this secretary of yours that you have decided to suddenly protect?" he asked.
"She is at Don Entertainment, right now helping with the movie shoot. She is coming up with some great ideas that would help the company expand its operations," Bryce said and joined his father on the couch. "The idea of diving into the entertainment industry using Don Entertainment was her idea, and she put together good projects and has executed them perfectly so far," he added.
"Show me," Devon said, and Bryce was happy to hear his father's interest in Angela's work.
If he gets his father to like Angela, Susan and Eva will not be able to scheme against her anymore. Bryce picked up his laptop, plugged the projector cord into it and projected Angela's work on the projector screen. Bryce walked his father through the project plan and what was to be done at each phase, and brought him up to speed on where they were on the execution of the project.
"Impressive," Devon said.
"Yes, and this is the reason why I don't want to lose this secretary," Bryce said.
"Fine, I will speak with Susan. She would not trouble your secretary anymore. I know she means well for the company," Devon said and got up to leave.
He hardly visits the company, but anytime he does, it is for a very important reason. This time, he had come to ensure the restoration of Susan and Eva.
Once Bryce saw his father off, he returned to his office and called Bernard.
"Hello Bernard, call Susan and Eva. Tell them to return to the company and forget about finding a replacement for the HR position," Bryce said.
Bernard wanted to question what changed, but recalled seeing Devon around briefly.
"Yes, Mr President," Bernard acknowledged.
A couple of minutes to noon, Bryce tried to finish up so he could go to Don Entertainment to see how the shoot was going. Bryce was engrossed in some documents he was working on when he heard a knock on his door.
"Come in," he invited without bothering to lift his head to check who was entering his office.
"Hello, Bryce," came Susan's voice, and Eva was with her.
"It is Mr President to you," Bryce said, staring at Susan angrily.
"Sorry," Susan apologizes and Eva smiles. "Anyway, Bernard said you wanted to see us," she added, taking her sunshades off and making herself comfortable in the seat in front of Bryce's desk.
Eva joined her on the second seat, and they both stared at Bryce like some evil witches.
"I called you here because I have revoked your termination," Bryce said, and Susan smiled. "However, you will be on a two-month suspension without pay," he added, and Susan and Eva gasped.
"Suspension?" Susan said angrily.
"Two months?" Eva asked, surprised.
"Yes," Bryce said and relaxed in his seat. "You two did things that almost cost the company, and for that, you need to be punished. Termination of your contracts was the ideal punishment, but a reconsideration was done based on certain things, and that is why you have been called back. This two-month suspension is a punishment for what you did," he said. "Once you resume, you will sign an undertaking and will also be under close monitoring," he added.
"No, two months' suspension is too much," Susan protested.
"If that is what you feel. I will give you two options to choose from since you have to be punished. The first option is the termination of your contracts, and the second option is two months suspension without pay. Chose one," Bryce said and stared at the two.
"Fine, we will go on the two-month suspension," Susan said and stood on her feet.
Eva followed her, and the two exited the office. Bryce finished his work and packed his stuff. He was soon out of his office, heading for the garage. Two cars drove out of the company heading for Don Entertainment Industry.
On the other hand, Susan and Eva, after leaving Bryce's office, went to sit in the restaurant across the street.
"Two months' suspension is a lot of days," Eva complained.
"I know, but I called Bryce's father, and it looked like he was not going to do anything about it. He said we erred and that is our punishment," Susan said.
"So what would we be doing for two months sitting at home?" Eva said.
"Gather more information about Angela," Susan said, and Eva's eyes widened.
"Are we still going after Angela?" Eva asked, and Susan smiled.
"Yes," Susan replied. "Look, I have a feeling Angela is living with Bryce. Get your man to confirm that, and we can use that to get her out of the company for good. I will have my man bag, and I will help you get Bernard," she added.
"You know, getting information from that Estate is not easy. I am trying, but I am not getting anything," Eva complained.
"I have a plan," Susan said and whispered her plan into Eva's ear.
"That will work. We just have to wait for her to close," Eva said, smiling.
"Yes, but not today. Let's do this at another time. Now, Bryce would be watching," Susan said.
