Chapter 191 Mr Davis takes Over
Ivan left the living room, holding the company document and smiling from ear to ear. He climbed the staircase to his bedroom floor and walked down the hallway toward the huge master bedroom door at the end of the hallway. Two guards stood on either side of the door. As he approached, they opened the door for him.
"Bryce, Bryce, by sunrise, you will lose everything. I am now the new owner of your company and also have the documents that make you the heir of the Moore family," Ivan said and smiled.
When Matilda Davis brought Bryce to the Davis family and presented him as the new Don, Ivan was worried because he thought he was being trained to become the new Don. When he asked his mother, she told him to focus on his training. He had someone run an investigation on Bryce. After finding out about who Bryce was, he started monitoring him. When he realised Bryce was onto his mother, he also made his men move. He wanted to be the one to bring Bryce to his knees, so he kept his findings to himself. Bryce was doing a lot of things because he had resources, even though Devon, his father, had taken over Diamond Corporation. He managed to bribe one of the guards of Bryce, and he got him the document that made Bryce heir of the Moore family. It was that guard who led the attack at Bryce's home inside the estate. He eliminated him afterwards because he didn't want any future witnesses, and the police were also investigating. Three days after his mother was arrested unexpectedly because he had thought his mother was in full control, he didn't expect the turn of events; he employed the service of Elorm, knowing he and Zora were very close. He had told Elorm about the death of his father and blamed it on Bryce, Zora and Angela. This was why Elorm stopped talking to Zora, but later became the eyes of Ivan, in monitoring Bryce.
Now he had both documents in hand. All he needed to do now was just walk into the company and claim the property, freeze Bryce's assets and have someone eliminate him and Angela at the hospital.
"Sir, shall we proceed with the plan?" a guard strode into Ivan's room and asked.
"We claim the company in the morning and announce the takeover in the process. I want all the press to be there to capture the moment. After we pay a visit to Bryce at the hospital. I want to personally tell him that I have taken everything from him. Get the doctor on standby, as soon as I leave, we'll give Bryce a little heart attack. It will look normal, and no one will suspect a murder," Ivan replied.
"And your mother?" the guard asked.
"Once everything is done. We get her out of prison," Ivan said. "Leave George in prison, I don't want the ugly bastard around my mother," he added with a frown, knowing George wanted to have an intimate relationship with his mother, and he didn't like it.
At Bryce's apartment, at 4 a.m., Martin drove into the compound and parked the car. He got down and walked toward the apartment. He unlocked the front door and went inside, locking the door behind him. He climbed the staircase and walked towards his bedroom. He stopped briefly at Zora's door. He realised her door was slightly ajar. He walked towards it and found Zora lying close to the edge of the bed, wearing a small black dress. Her legs were hanging from the side of the bed, and she still had shoes on. He drew closer to the bed and took the shoes off her feet. He carried her and properly laid her on the bed, supporting her head with a pillow. He pulled the blanket and covered her. He saw her open the drawer with the document sticking out at the small opening when he was about to leave. He stared at it and exited the room, closing the door behind him. He went into his room, freshened up and set his alarm for 6 am. It's been a long day, but his work continues at 6 a.m. He lay on the bed after putting on something comfortable.
At 5 a.m., Zora woke up and stretched her arms and her body. She removed the blanket and slipped her legs into her slippers. She stood up and realised she had slept in her outing dress. She tried to recollect why she had that dress on, but recalled nothing. Her eyes fell on the document sticking out from the open drawer. She walked towards it and pulled it out, wondering what document it was. She opened it and realised it was the company's document. Her mind quickly recalled her conversation with Elorm about finding out who owned the company.
"I might have picked this up to find out," Zora thought and opened the document.
Her eyes widened seeing the name Ivan Davis printed on the document as the owner.
"Oh my God, Bryce Moore doesn't own the company," Zora panicked. "What do I do?" she thought, pacing up and down her room, but remembered she didn't have the document in her room. "I can't do anything. Bryce will know I went through his things," she thought.
She went into the bathroom and freshened up. She quickly dressed up and exited the room with the document. She had already made a mental note to speak with Elorm about what she had found out. She managed to return the document to Bryce's study. Forgetting where she had picked it, she placed it inside the drawer of Bryce's desk.
She left the apartment immediately at 6 am, without having her breakfast, in an Uber, heading for the company. The name she had seen as the owner occasionally resurfaced in her memory. She arrived at the company at 6:30 a.m. and went up to her office. She noticed Elorm was not in yet.
Inside her office, she settled in and tried to call Elorm, but the call quickly went to voicemail.
"That is odd," Zora thought.
During the time she had known Elorm, she had never called him for her call to go to voicemail, except the time he blocked her. She tried again and got the same results.
"Is he okay?" Zora questioned, recalling he had cancer, but quickly remembered the report she had seen, which said Elorm was medically fine.
"Is he blocking me again?" Zora thought.
She decided she would look for him after work. She focuses her mind on work. A couple of hours went by, and she heard a knock on her door.
"Yes, come in," Zora invited, with her eyes fixated on her laptop screen.
"Ms Zora, you need to come with me asap. There are some people at the reception demanding to see you," Ariana informed Zora, and she frowned, seeing how anxious Ariana looked.
"Get Bernard, Evans, Britney and Martin," Zora said and stood up from behind her desk as Ariana left to get the people she had mentioned.
In a couple of minutes, Zora was at the reception with Britney, Evans and Bernard, but not Martin.
"I am Jay Gustavo, a lawyer for Ivan Davis of the Davis family. I am here to inform you that, effective today, Mr Davis has full control of this company. This means changes would be made to the company. It also means those of you who fail to meet Mr Davis's standard will leave the company," Jay informed them.
"This company belongs to the Moore family. I have been in this company that long to know this," Britney challenged.
"You are?" Jay asked, staring at Britney.
"It doesn't matter," Britney replied, hostilely. "You and your men should get out of this company before Mr Moore gets to know about this," she threatened, and Jay laughed.
"Yes, she is right, and you need to leave, or we will have to call our security," Evans added his voice, and Jay laughed some more.
Zora and Bernard, however, remained silent. There was a crowd forming around the place as the change went on.
"Does this tame your tongue?" Jay said and handed a document to Britney.
Britney accepted the document and looked at it; her eyes widened. She had worked in the company but had never seen the company document to know to whom the company belonged. She had just assumed it belonged to the Moore family because they had been running the business as far back as she could remember.
"I found out yesterday," Zora finally spoke in a sad tone. "I just didn't expect Mr Davis would come in today," she added, drawing the attention of Evans and Britney.
"Now that we are on the same page, I need you to gather all the employees for a special announcement," Jay said.
Zora had the receptionist call all the employees to the auditorium. Ivan Davis walked in a few minutes after all the employees were seated, flanked by three guards, his presence commanding authority. He mounted the stage to address them, and the press were already present in their numbers. Some stayed outside and reported the situation live on every channel, while some were inside the auditorium doing a live stream of the situation.
"I am Ivan Davis, the owner of this company. Starting today, you all work under me. Bryce Moore is a criminal who tried to take what doesn't belong to him. Those loyal to him will end up in prison with him," Ivan said.
